“If a mosque were put up for sale anywhere in the world, the whole of Turkey would probably revolt.”
There it is.
“Several Christian churches put up for sale in Turkey,” Union of Orthodox Journalists, December 7, 2021:
There are two Christian churches for sale in Turkey, reports the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung.
Presumably, the temples are being sold to replenish the state budget of Turkey, which is suffering from an acute economic crisis.
The fact was made public in the request of the deputy of the opposition Democratic Party of Peoples Garo Paylan to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Temples of the Greek Orthodox Church in Bursa and the Syrian Orthodox Church in Mardin are on sale for 441 thousand euros and 507.5 thousand euros, respectively. Pailan was outraged by this fact and asked Ersoy a question: “Doesn’t it bother you, Mr Minister? If a mosque were put up for sale anywhere in the world, the whole of Turkey would probably revolt.”…

There is no low to which mozlums will not sink. It would seem they couldn’t sink any in the beginning because they are at the very bottom. but, if they can add insult to injury upon injury, they will find a way.
The door of a barracks in another country is damaged by an angry mozlum, an unnecessary adjective, I am aware; and the turkeys go berserk and want retaliation. If one was put up for sale….er snake wan would have to get personally involved.
How about selling the one in Maryland, USA for a few bucks to handle some of the illegal *immigrants* expenses?
eduardo odraude says
Why does the government of Turkey own those churches? If they are the government’s legitimate property (which somehow I doubt), then the government has every right to sell them, I guess. How did the government get ownership of those churches?

the turks after they exterminated the majority of million and a half at least greeks assyrian and armenian of turkey exaclty 99 years ago and continued the genocide up to the second world war and after that, periodically confiscated the properties that were not very poor properties in many cases to the state…. so endless property of the murdered greek armanians and assyrians fell to the turkish state….
somehistory says
How did they get anything they *own*? They murder the true owners and take the property. And many churches have been turned into barracks for the mozlums to go and plan warfare, talk to satan and bang their ugly heads on dirty carpets.

Eduardo, after the Armenian Genocide–actually a genocide against all Christians in Turkey–many dioceses had no surviving parishioners. Over a milion Christians were murderedand the number may be twice that–and many also fled. The Turkish government simply siezed these churches, Most were razed, but some were kept as tourist attractions.
The surviving Christian population has eroded even further over the past hundred years as more and more Christians have left. Even optimistic estimates put the entire Christian population of Turkey at just a little over 300,000–less than the population of my medium-sized American city.

The French Govt owns all Christian Churches in France,so yes the Turkish Govt does own the Churches..

Why don’t they sell Hagia Sofia to, say, Greece and pocket that cash?
gravenimage says
Because they have turned this great Cathedral into a Mosque.

Thanks for that link, Somehistory. This seems to be the only source for this story. I thought the pontiff looked pretty vigorous on nis last trip, but one never knows…

I recall that some few months ago, he had surgery and spent nearly two weeks in the hospital. Some people thought that would be the end for him. Guess time will tell.
He said he thought some wanted him dead. Probably very true and more than he realizes feel that way.
gravenimage says
Thanks, Somehistory. I do know that he had colon surgery not long ago.
somehistory says
According to this latest, he may have cancer…which is fairly often fatal when in the intestinal tract. Surgery often makes cancer spread to other organs.
Anyway I can’t say I’m sad, but I’m not rooting for his death, either. I leave that up to his doctors and God Almighty.

Lets hear more about Turkey’s dams on the Tigris and Euphrates, cutting the water flowing to Syria and Iraq by 40 and 70% respectively, and driving people from their farms and villages.

Even often clueless Western toruists are getting the message that Turkey is increasingly dangerous and unfriendly to visitors.

The only two cases where I have seen tourism as really supportive of an economy is
‣ Fantastic locales like Tahiti or Hawaii
‣ Pilgrim tourism
Turkey happens to fall in neither: it’s not a pilgrimage spot for muslims, and from what I know, it doesn’t have scenery worth dying for

Turkey–Anatolia–has a fascinating non-Islamic history. If it were not an Islamic country I would love to see Hagia Sophia, Cappadocia, the Bosphorus, Ararat, and the site of Troy.

Me too, GI!
I would love to see from whence we came—
But it won’t happen as long as the Turks are in charge
Susan Stavros says
No country or nation that continually kills and steals for its personal gain can have the benefits of hard-working, God-fearing nations. Muslims think they got away with their way of life persecuting people, for their devil god is cunning and mowes down nations and pilferage goods. Seems they never learn from others, they just play the game of war calling it religion, when, really it is only political intimidation against their neighbors for gain, they have no shame when they hide behind their totally evil ideologies. God Almighty is patient with them, however, the day of reckoning is nigh, such dumb, stupid nations, for to lie, to kill, and to steal is their mantra in life.
gravenimage says
All true, Susan.
And if you are new to Jihad Watch–I don’t think I’ve seen your name here before–welcome!

I have Stavros cousins—maybe we’re related!!!! ?
OLD GUY says
Ok where is Christianophobia it should be being yelled loud and clear. But NO only Islam has a phobia, which is vary different from the jihad that islam has against Christians. The phobia against islam is a joke, but the Jihad against Christians is violence and death. So just why is Islamophobia such a concern in the media and political arena? You would think our media and politicians would be condemning Muslims/islamics for their violence and murder of others rather than defending them as a persecuted group.
