This resolution outrages history and insults a sovereign state. Defund the UN!
“UN resolution only calls Temple Mount by Muslim name,” i24 News, December 2, 2021:
The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday adopted a resolution on Jerusalem that only refers to the Temple Mount by its Muslim name.
The text calls the holiest site in Judaism and the third holiest site in Islam solely by its Arabic name of al-Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary). The Hebrew name for the Temple Mount is Har HaBayit (Mount of the House).
A total of 129 countries supported the resolution and 11 voted against it, with 31 abstentions.
The United States opposed the text, saying that it is “morally, historically and politically wrong” for the UNGA to support language that denies Jewish ties to the site.
In a statement explaining why it abstained, the United Kingdom said it is important to recognize the connection to Jerusalem of all three monotheistic religions — Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
“The resolution adopted today refers to the holy sites in Jerusalem in purely Islamic terms, without recognizing the Jewish terminology of ‘Temple Mount.’ The UK has made clear for many years that we disagree with this approach, and while we welcome the removal of the majority of these references, we are disappointed that we were unable to find a solution to the final instance,” the statement said….
Westman says
If there was ever a sign that the UN is a waste on US shores and an actual enemy of the US and Israel, this was it.
For Israel, this is a clear sign that if they intend to stop Iran, time is running out.

Wellington says
The League of Nations “merely” proved ineffective and somewhat cowardly. The UN goes beyond this and is actually in league with evil—and why the time is way overdue for this decrepit organization to find another headquarters, say Tehran, Beijing, perhaps Pyongyang, maybe Mogadishu, Moscow, Riyadh, Islamabad—ah, so many choices. But the UN still in NYC is an insult to freedom, equality under the law, democracy, women’s rights, rights overall, and to truth and decency in general.
Time is way overdue for America to kick the UN out of America and cease being a member of it. Ditto for Western nations en masse, that is assuming they still have leaders with guts and which itself is looking bleaker and bleaker by the year with most Western nations, Eastern Europe to its great credit being the major exception here.
Westman says
It’s hard to imagine the Lion of England lying down for the slaughter, Wellington. That is, until you look at London. The UK is now a shackled slave to the results of its own colonial past and recent immigration policies.
The US is on the same path, bringing incompatible, demanding, ideologies to its heartland which will ultimately muzzle its ability for action and truthful leadership.
Wellington says
Reminded here, Westman, of Enoch Powell’s “River of Blood” speech back in 1968.
Though I always ultimately judge a person, a la Martin Luther King, on the content of their character, I also see nothing wrong with a civilization wanting to preserve their traditions, their own culture, even their own ethnicity or race (e.g., the Japanese).
I remember back in 1976 when Jimmy Carter, running for President (successfully of course against Ford) and who had and has many faults but is certainly no racist, got into trouble when he stated that he understood why Irish American neighborhoods, Polish American neighborhoods, black American neighborhoods, Chinese American neighborhoods, et al. wanted to remain in tact as such neighborhoods by having marriage occur within these ethnic/racial groups. I agree and with due exceptions allowed when love and other good things prevail in certain instances—as with my brother marrying a Korean or my nephew, a graduate of West Point, marrying a fellow graduate of West Point, who herself is black.
The idea that questioning any attempt to preserve cultural identity is itself a negative is itself a giant arrogance masquerading as something wise and noble—yes indeed, no questioning of this allowed. Which in and of itself is extremely narrow-minded—but then you can invariably count on the narrow-minded to assume a posture of self-righteousness which is obnoxious and erroneous to its core all the while such deficient people are the very last to realize how limited in thinking they really are.
Westman says
My own close relatives include Chinese, Mexican, and Spaniard, all supporters of a free US. Each retains some of the old culture and appreciate that their parents came here to be Americans; having a love for it and the opportunities they gained. This kind of diversity works.
When I see sustained adolescents “demonstrating” in the streets, damaging, burning, and looting I am saddened that these are not people who will serve in the military or in any other capacity that sacrifices for our nation. It is my hope that, when more mature, these same people will realize the great opportunity that was always available to them, seize it, and make their future.
James Lincoln says
Westman says,
“This kind of diversity works.”
That is absolutely true, as long as different ethnic groups put the culture of the host country first.
Different ethnic groups in the United States make up our “melting pot.” Dance, music, cuisine, art, etc., add richness to a society – as long as the different ethnic groups assimilate into the host country’s culture – as far as putting *that* culture first. Learning the language, obeying all laws, etc., of the host culture.
Very very different from multiculturalism with no-go zones – which never works.
But you knew that already…

I agree–this kind of diversity can work, and work well.

Good exchange. Yes, the UN should not be headquartered in the US. President Trump questioned this–Biden certainly will not.
Infidel says
President Trump gave too much respect to the UN – nominating Nikki Haley there, taking his own sweet time in pulling out of the Paris accords, etc. His real achilles heel was Jared/Ivanka. I do hope that if he returns, they’re not re-hired in the corridors of power, but do their own thing, and that he builds his team from those who’ve been battling Biden unapologetically
gravenimage says
Agreed, Infidel–but at least he questioned the UN, which is more than most American presidents have ever bothered to do.

There is nothing…nada, zip…”holy” about islam. islam is pure demonic filth.
However, the devil is pretty much in control of the language today…Truth is silenced, words and meanings misused…and since the u.n. is under the control of the mozlums…so many of them with such demanding, loud, threatening voices, they get what they want and what they want is islam everywhere with mozlums sitting on the life and breath of humankind.
But, change is coming and soon. Swift as on the wings of eagles or a Cheetah running after its dinner. Judgment will catch these evil ones by complete surprise in its suddenness.
Fitna says
Indeed SH, we need to get center-right, conservative parties in power and this is coming from someone who holds true Liberal values. Everything has moved too far to the Left and that’s why we’re in this mess.
France now has 2 very good candidates to save itself from Islamification, Marine Le Pen and Eric Zemmour, who has turned out to the stronger, smarter and bolder of the two. He knows his nation is in danger from Muslims and he’s not shy about saying it openly.
So there’s a real ray of hope for France, so long as elections are honest and fair and assuming the French smarten up and vote for that man, but Marine is ok too….either of them will save their nation.
If we can get such leaders in other western nations then they can save themselves also. I think for the US, Ted Cruz would be a stronger candidate than Trump but either is ok.
Jim says
Most of the UN members are afraid of Islamic reprisals, including the UK.
Fitna says
Yup, the path of least resistance, it’s easier to go along with the herd than to fight against it.
Muslims keenly understand the value of numbers, being the mob, bullies, strength in numbers and that is how they’ve pushed their values on non-Muslim nations.
The UN has been a joke from the start-democratic nations allowed dictatorships and fascist totalitarian states like Communist and Islamic to be treated as equals, when they themselves abhor equality and deny it to their citizens.
John McCain was right about creating a League of Democracies, that only free, democratic nations should be allowed to join. Communism and Islam are enemies and they shouldn’t be a seat at our table, until they adopt democratic values like our own.
mgoldberg says
Israel should insist that with the naming of their holiest site, Har ha Bayit- the Temple Mount- now stripped of its actual 3000 yr old name, they should respond in kind. The UN is now given it’s proper name by Israel-
UnWelcome…… and should be kindly escorted out of the land of Israel unto they, the UN, change their name on their own papers to ‘UnWelcome’

UN adopts resolution that calls Temple Mount only by its Muslim name
………..
Just grotesque–the only reason “Al Aqsa Mosque: is where it is is because of the Temple Mount, and a desire to assert Muslim supremacy over Jews. And now the appalling UN is enabling this ugliness. Given the nature of the UN, with Muslim and other unfree nations in the majority, this does not much surprise.
Westman says
Does anyone find it strange that al(the)-Haram(forbidden) is the designation of a “holy” place? Al-Haram al-Sharif would mean “the protector of the forbidden” which sounds a bit weird as a reference to a place. It certainly reads like a place intended to protect the forbidden from the people rather the reverse.
Is Arabic so full of connotations that it might be useless for science?
maria says
UN are a dhimmi of the muslim terrorists. Dissolve that terrorist organization and choose a new democratic organization where all the muslim states are forbidden.
It is possible because the previous organization League of Nations was dissolved.
And the only Democratic nation that sides with Israel The Czech Republic . A small, brave nation whom we should admire

The United Nations has become a den of inequity where he highest bidder gets to be “chosen” to the Human Rights Committee. Therefore countries like Saudi Arabia is chosen to said committee. What a joke!

Eva says
And this is why Israel should trust no-one.
No-one will ever truly have her back, they will lie and use her, then throw her under the bus, just as they’ve been doing all along.
Wellington says
I essentially agree, Eva, but I would also note one exception, i.e., the single greatest friend of Israel in all the world, to the extent that Israel actually has a friend, to wit, the Republican Party of the USA. As long as Republicans are in power, Israel can pretty much depend on having a stalwart ally.
As for the Democratic Party of the USA, forget it. But then where the Democratic Party of the USA is concerned it is so pathetic across the board only fools or worse should depend upon it to ensure common sense and moral intelligence prevail where any issue is concerned.
If I’m not mistaken, Benjamin Netanyahu called President Trump the greatest ally Israel has ever had. Yes, I know Trump is a maverick more than he is a Republican, but many, many Republicans backed Trump with all his dealings with Israel. For the record.
James Lincoln says
Wellington,
100% agree.
Due to the fraudulent Harris / Biden “illegal occupiers” of the White House, Israel should, at the present time, not count on the United States as an ally.

Dov Berrol says
We who support Yisrael need to stop using the English versions of the place names in Erets Yisrael. The Arab sees the use of English as proof that the Zionist movement is a European colonial enterprise. Jerusalem needs to be referred to as Yerushalayim, Samaria as Shomron, Judea as Yehuda, The Temple Mount as Har HaBayit, the Western Wall as the Kotel, etc. Using the original Hebrew terminology for all the Jewish places in Erets Yisrael would go a long way to reaffirm the historical “Hebrew” identity that these places have had for centuries….and well before the Arab colonizers forcefully occupied the land and ethnically cleansed it of any Hebrew connection or identity.
Wellington says
No, I respectfully disagree. Using the English version of these names is not the problem. Being submissive to Islamic demands is the problem.
Besides, there is no way that Jerusalem is going to start being referred to as Yerushalayim—not in English geographical dictionaries, in English language encyclopedias, etc. This is simply unrealistic and actually defensive to the point that the damn Arab/Muslim world achieves another stupid victory. When Netanyahu was Prime Minister of Israel (and so many other PM’s of Israel who spoke English) when did they not refer to Jerusalem as Jerusalem?
The right policy, accompanied by common sense and moral intelligence, is what matters, not nomenclature. What? Should we all start referring to Rome as Roma and Germany as Deutschland and The Netherlands as Nederland?
Never bend to ignorance or iniquity. Keep a steady course. Even with language.
gravenimage says
Dov–with all respect–this is silly. All over the world people largely use native language versions of cities and place names, includig foreign ones–here the “eternal city” is referred to as “Rome” rather than “Roma”, and “Cologne” rather than “Koln”. But this is neither disrespectful nor indicative of either city being secretly English.
Muslims will lie about anything if they think it will aid the spread of Islam. Believing that the reason Muslims hate Jews is because English-speaking peoples use Anglisized spellings of Israeli place names is mistaken. Hatred of Jews, alas, is a core part of Islam.
Alfredo says
Dov Berrol is correct in his assertion that the real colonizers are the Arabs, who under Umar arrived in the Holy Land in 641 AD.
When compared to the long history of Mount Moriah, that is recent history. What the Arabs now call Marwan which is as usual with them, it is Mount Moriah renamed Marwan; where that temple was built in Byzantine style by Abdel Malek in 685. With one purpose in mind, to declare the supremacy of the Umayyad dynasty.
Now it’s called the Temple Mount, where that temple sits on same place known for over thousand years as Har Habayet in Hebrew. The cradle of Jewish civilization. Furthermore that land was purchased by King David with good money, even though it was offered to him for free.
But of course the UN has become a den of inequity where Communist and Islamic dictatorships are the bullying mob who openly declare their emnity to what they hatefuly call “the Zionist Entity”
Because just like bullies, they pervert every thing they touch with their dirty hands and vile mendacity.
