The Israel National News article title is Radical cleric: Selling land to Jews is a betrayal of Islam. While Westerners often choose to call such clerics “radical,” Sheikh Ikrima Sabri is in fact a mainstream, highly influential Islamic leader. He is head of the Supreme Islamic Council and former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (from 1994 – 2006). He has condemned what he referred to as the “Judaization” of Jerusalem.
Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, attended by 50,000 people, served this week as a platform to encourage the public to mobilize for the “resistance” against Israel.
50,000 people is a significant number, and suggests that Sabri is more mainstream than radical. Westerners frequently dub the likes of Sheikh Sabri “radical” to fit a popular template of Islam as a “religion of peace.”
Islamic antisemitism is engrained in Islam, and the Palestinian “resistance” is a jihad against Israel.
“Radical cleric: Selling land to Jews is a betrayal of Islam,” Israel National News, January 2, 2022:
Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, attended by 50,000 people, served this week as a platform to encourage the public to mobilize for the “resistance” against Israel.
Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, spoke in his sermon about the importance of holding on to the land and protecting it by praising the course of action of the residents of Wadi Joz, Silwan, Burkin, Beita, Jenin and Palestinian Arab residents in the rest of Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem.
Sabri called the Palestinians the “keepers of the faith and the lands” and stressed the ban on selling land to Jews or giving it up.
“The mediation and transfer of land and real estate (to the Jews) are a betrayal and an exit from the entire Muslim group and an exit from the entire community,” he stated.
Harun Nasser, a member of Hamas’ political bureau, called on Muslims to mobilize to defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque and take action against the “desecration” of the site by the settlers in order to keep the place of the Prophet Muhammad’s ascent to heaven “pure from all impurity.”
Sabri regularly accuses Israel of trying to “Judaize” the Temple Mount area. Several years ago, he accused “extremist” Jewish organizations of waging a legal battle aimed at achieving Israeli sovereignty in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In 2014, he declared that Al-Aqsa was a “red line” for Arabs, adding, “We will not give up even one grain of earth (at the Al-Aqsa Mosque), since the Jews have no connection to it whatsoever.”
Arabs continuously accuse Israel of “Judaizing” the Temple Mount, sometimes resorting to ridiculous propaganda such as accusing Israel of using chemicals to erode the foundations of the mosque in order to cause it to collapse.
Under Palestinian Authority (PA) law, the selling of land to Jews is illegal and punishable by death. However, such sentences must be approved by the PA chairman, and current chairman Mahmoud Abbas has preferred to authorize life sentences for such offenses, possibly due to fear of an international backlash……

He says it as if betraying Islam was a bad thing ?
Westman says
Why do assaults on the Temple Mount and the existence of Israel seem like a modern Punch & Judy stage in which partial puppet control is in the hands of elite audiences who may not want peaceful solutions?
There would be betting in Las Vegas, predicting body counts, if it wasn’t prohibited. Too cynical?

Just wondering what he means by ‘exit’. Does Islam have a form of excommunication for practitioners? Id the penalty the same for those who leave the religion and those who retain their faith but ‘betray’ the community by doing business with non-Muslims?
Westman says
It certainly sounds like he means every possible method of “excommunication” from Islam society. Iran and Pakistan would handle it differently than Egypt or SA.

We know what this *exit* looks like–it doesn’t mean shunning or excommunication, but “exiting” in a pine box, with help from a homicidal Muslim mob…

He is condemning a large percentage of the Arab muslim population of Palestine in the 1920s, since that was when they sold land to Jewish settlers at inflated prices. In fact, that’s how these days muslims are trying to islamize places, such as Fort Horn. In fact, whenever I turn on an YouTube video, I frequently get hit w/ an ad from a muslim promising to buy a church area in Tampa to turn it into a ‘masjid’ (his word, not mine: even though he’s clearly a Black muslim, not an Arab or Paki, he doesn’t use the word ‘mosque’)

Islam is mainly 1400 years of aggressive Arab conquest ideology pretending to be a religion. It is obviously attempting to be a political and religious replacement in the vacuum of post-Christian societies. Islam’s 1400 year behavior is similar to the hungry, sly fox convincing the gingerbread man (non-Islamic host nations) to climb closer to his nose, where he will be safe, as he swims toward the riverbank.
“Then the gingerbread man reached a wide river , but he didn’t know how to swim. A sly and hungry fox saw the gingerbread man and said, “Jump on my tail, and I’ll take you across the river !”
The gingerbread man thought to himself, “I’ll be safe on his tail.” So he jumped on the fox’s tail and they started across the river .
Halfway across the river , the fox barked, “You’re too heavy for my tail, jump on my back.” So the gingerbread man jumped on the fox’s back.
Soon, the fox said, You’re too heavy for my back, jump onto my nose.” So the gingerbread man jumped on the fox’s nose. But as soon as they reached the riverbank, the fox flipped the gingerbread man into the air, snapped his mouth shut, and ate the gingerbread man .
And that was the end of the gingerbread man .”

“Al-Aqsa Mosque, attended by 50,000 people”.
There would be repercussions if they did NOT attend.

No such thing as a moderate muslim. They all support the jihad through either violence , financial assistance to those who do jihad and their silence about those violence criminal acts on non-muslims.
