Ted Cruz: If Republicans Take Back the House, Biden Could Be Impeached

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said on Friday’s episode of his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz,” that there would be “multiple grounds” to impeach Old Joe Biden if the Republicans take back the House in 2022.

“If we take the House,” Cruz said, “if we take the House, which I said is overwhelmingly likely, then I think we will see serious investigations of the Biden administration.” Those investigations could lead to impeachment: “whether it’s justified or not, the Democrats weaponized impeachment. They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. One of the real disadvantages of doing that is the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel, you know what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”

That’s true. The Constitution states that “the President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” It is unwise and a sign of the degeneration of our political system into a cesspool of corruption and influence-peddling that the Democrats have weaponized impeachment proceedings against Republican presidents who have not remotely committed treason, bribery, or any other high crimes and misdemeanors. If the Republicans descend to the same level instead of continuing their usual spinelessness and me-tooism, on one level it would be refreshing to see them fight back against the authoritarian Left, but it would also indicate a further erosion of the mutual respect upon which our political system has been based up until recent decades.

Cruz, however, sees grounds to impeach Old Joe that aren’t just partisan vindictiveness. “I think there will be enormous pressure on a Republican House to begin impeachment proceedings,” he observed correctly, adding: “I think there are potentially multiple grounds to consider for impeachment. Probably the most compelling is the utter lawlessness is President Biden to enforce the border. His decision to just defy immigration laws. That’s probably the strongest grounds right now for impeachment but there may be others.”

Cruz has a good point. Leaving the Southern border open for all manner of criminals, including jihad terrorists, can easily be seen as treason, which is generally defined as giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no denying the fact that the enemies of the United States are gaining aid and comfort from our essentially nonexistent Southern border, as it gives them easy entrée into the country with little worry that their activities to subvert and ultimately destroy the United States will be impeded.

The same could be said of Biden’s handlers’ policy toward Iran, particularly its willingness to remove sanctions on the Islamic Republic and reenter the Iranian nuclear deal. Obama sent billions in cash to the Iranians while they were chanting “Death to America”; was that not giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Wouldn’t Biden’s friendly and generous posture toward a rogue state that has made no secret of its determination to destroy both the United States and Israel also count as treason? Would the Republicans dare to explore that territory?

  1. Cruz is not much more than another carnival barker trying to get attention and votes.
    He and Trey Gowdy always make these great arguments against injustice (and then never back it up)
    He has his angle and works it well. But still just a political parasite. IMO

    • Nice of him to take a break from condemning as insurgents every American who took part in the 1/6/21 “riot” though. Must have broken his concentration.

  2. Of course – that depends on the 2022 mid-terms not also being incredibly obviously rigged.

    Since there has been nothing done about 2020 why should we expect any different, anyone who gets excited about “november” is being stupid

    • If Trump supporters show 70% of votes I find it hard to believe establishment can steal that

      • Establishment shouldn’t be able to steal even if Trump supporters show 1% , but that’s the state we are in nowadays in the US .

      • It’s not hard to steal votes when you have algorithms in voting machines moving votes from Trump to Biden, as happened in the last election. That’s the only way to explain how certain cities, like Detroit, Philly, Atlanta, Phoenix, Biden got more votes than Obama even though everywhere else (as would be expected), such as New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angleles, he under-performed Obama. Only voting chicanery can account for that

  3. It only makes sense to impeach Biden if

    – The GOP gets a real senate majority of 60, as opposed to an imaginary one that includes RINOs like Collins, Murkowski, Romney, Sasse, et al, that can pull off a vote to convict
    – A thorough investigation of the behind-the-scenes activity and who exactly was behind all those decisions, like pulling out of Afghanistan, opening up the borders, which directly affected national security
    – The plan also gets rid of Que Mala, who’s been just as bad

    I doubt that that will happen, which is why Cruz’s idea is more a pipe dream

  7. One mayor problem that this plan of Ted Cruz that no matter how well meaning for America this idea of Senator Cruz and his friends are ,there is still something called “the law of untended consequences.’

    That is something could go terribly wrong.Which is no matter how awful and destructive to America Joe Biden really is. There is the horrendous possibility that if heinous “President” Biden is impeached and removed from Office , regarding of how many safeguards are followed there still be a chance that Biden would than be replaced as President by that hideous ,obnoxious rude, abrasive self-centered narcissist and dangerous subversive Communist , Kamala Harris.

    If Harris would obtain the Office of Presidency of the United States then to say that she would be a disaster for America would be a great understatement .

    To it this in another way , things in this country under Biden are bad. Nevertheless if Kamala Harris would become President things in America would not go from “bad to worse” but the condition of the United States would skip the word “worse” go from “bad to the very worst possible. ”

    With Harris acting as the Chief Executive the US the horrible damage and unspeakable harm she and her Marxist crew, with their Red /Green alliance, would do to America would be completely and totally irreversible. As Abraham Lincoln had said ” You can’t unscramble eggs.”

    • You may not be able to unscramble eggs, but you can throw them out with the trash. And there is a lot of trash in Washington that needs throwing out.

  8. I should have thought that the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and the loss of billions of dollars in equipment tot he Tban was grounds enough by itself for impeachment

  10. He is losing it. Today there was his statement calling January 6th a terrorist attack. Good luck ever in future primaries: I doubt that his opponents will ever allow him to live it down
