Malaysia is often referenced as “moderate,” but it isn’t. In recent years, it has steadily moved toward stricter adherence to Islamic doctrine.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) demanded that Twitter remove political analyst James Chin’s Tweet that was critical of Muslim sympathizers of the Taliban, but there are other concerning implications as Chin stated:
“Normally MCMC takes action against people who criticise the royalty, government leaders or institutions. If you look at my tweet, it doesn’t fall in any of the categories. I was only talking about the Muslim community or Muslim civil society in Malaysia in general. I didn’t name anybody or any Islamic groups in Malaysia.”
Chin’s tweet was posted in September. Most significant is Chin’s focus the Muslim community which supports the Taliban. Chin’s analysis points out a worrying trend in Malaysia: that the country has moved away from a moderate application of Islamic law, to applying Sharia more stringently.
The Taliban’s chief priority is to advance the Sharia. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared: “As the Taliban held some talks with the US, it should hold these talks with Turkey much more comfortably. Because Turkey has nothing that contradicts their beliefs.”
The Taliban isn’t seen as a radical group by Sharia-supporting countries, no matter what Westerners fool themselves into believing. The Taliban shares common ground with Islamic states on its strict adherence to the Sharia.
“MCMC asks Twitter to take down analyst’s tweet critical of Taliban sympathisers,” by Hariz Mohd, Malaysiakini, January 31, 2022:
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has lodged a complaint to Twitter and requested the social media platform to remove political analyst James Chin’s tweet, where he criticised several Muslim groups for asking the global community to give the Taliban a chance.
It came to light two days ago when Chin (above) shared an email from Twitter informing him of the authority’s request.
According to a snapshot of Twitter’s email to him, the company has not taken any action based on the report.
“Can you believe this? #Malaysia government complained to Twitter about me. How many of think this is crazy? So Taliban (is) off-limits?
“Are they going to complain about this Tweet as well? Are they trying to ban me from the public? Is this harassment? How do I complain back?” Chin tweeted on Saturday.
He also attached snapshots of the email from Twitter and the tweet that got reported by MCMC.
The tweet in question was made in September last year, where the University of Tasmania’s professor of Asian Studies expressed his strong disagreement over the call made by several groups – that Taliban should be given a chance to prove itself as a government.
His tweet was made in response to an article by The Malaysian Insight, titled: “Give Taliban a chance, say Malay-Muslim groups”.
Taliban had taken over Afghanistan in August last year, days after the US withdrew its troops from the war-torn country.
Request raises several questions
Speaking to Malaysiakini, Chin said the request made by MCMC has raised several questions.
“For one, who actually asked MCMC to complain? Was it the individual officer who has a quota to meet to report social media postings that they don’t like?
“It is weird because MCMC is highlighting something from a long time ago. The tweet is from last year. Are they trying to bring back old issues?” he said.
According to the analyst, he also found the authority’s interest in his tweet as somewhat bizarre, as it did not touch on sensitive topics like royalty, government leaders or the government.
The tweet also attracted minimal interactions only and had only gotten 50 likes, Chin said.
“Normally MCMC takes action against people who criticise the royalty, government leaders or institutions. If you look at my tweet, it doesn’t fall in any of the categories.
“I was only talking about the Muslim community or Muslim civil society in Malaysia in general. I didn’t name anybody or any Islamic groups in Malaysia.”….

Because Islam is an honor culture inside a Death Cult, Muslims feel that any perceived slight to the ‘honor’ of Islam must be punished, if not by execution, at least by imprisonment and torture while in detention.
Muslims are not aware that the rest of the world has left the Bronze Age to which Islam still obstinately adheres, and they don’t care for modern human rights codes if those codes don’t give an advantage to the advance of Sharia supremacism.
Christine Douglass-Williams shows how Western elites delude themselves into thinking that a ‘moderate’ form of Islam exists, when, in fact, there is only Islam, and there are Muslims who follow Sharia law sometimes loosely and sometimes strictly. Discriminatory, misogynistic Sharia law is what it is.
Most Muslims living in lax Muslim regions (or in the West) appear to feel that strict Sharia law is ‘ideal’, but it is not for them personally … strict Sharia is ok for other Muslims.
Muslims are voting against Sharia law with their feet whenever they choose to live in free Western countries.
PMK says
“Muslims are voting against Sharia law with their feet whenever they choose to live in free Western countries.”
Are you sure? If this is true, then why are Western countries replete with ‘no-go’ zones which Muslims dominate? Those that migrate individually and not as ‘refugees’ may think they don’t want sharia, but what are they doing to oppose it in the West? Will they stand against sharia when the Muslim community reaches critical mass? How many honor killings have we seen in the West? Did those Muslim parents stand against sharia when their daughters wished to assimilate?
If any Muslim, lax or otherwise, feels sharia law is ‘ideal’ then they should choose to live in an OIC country.

PMK,
To your point, a YouTube video posted on 2015 when Jesse Waters heads to Dearborn, Michigan and asks local muslims about their feelings regarding sharia law:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNHnwthp9FE
PMK says
James,
That video proves nothing. Islam sanctions lying to non-Muslims. If, as Mortimer said, Muslims are voting against sharia by migrating to Muslim countries, then why are Muslim girls not allowed to associate with non-Muslim boys? Most of these immigrants are not turning away from sharia. They’re bringing it here. Search Jihad Watch for Dearborn. Over one thousand articles will appear.

Yes, if mozlums actually wanted to escape the barbarity, the evil, the demonic commands of their “religion,” when they come to a country not ruled by islam, they wouldn’t make such demands on the rest of us to conform to their demands for
bloody meat, in and out of prisons and schools,
scarves everywhere, even in places of danger for the wearer and places like hospitals where they carry extra germs
wouldn’t raise such an outcry if they are served pork,
wouldn’t raise such a stink over someone telling the Truth, about islam
etc.
they would just allow themselves to fade into the fabric of society and not call attention to their mozlumness
But, they don’t want to leave any of that behind. They want to carry every last filthy dreg along and impose it on the rest of us.
James Lincoln says
PMK,
Perhaps you are misunderstanding the intent of my post – I am actually agreeing with you.
In the video, many muslims in Dearborn, Michigan stated to Jesse that they preferred sharia law over US law.
I would think that muslims lying (agree, yes they do this all the time) about this would only hurt their cause.

…………….
Mortimer, if this were true, then why do more than half of Muslims in Western countries openly say they want to see Sharia imposed? Why do they have “religious police” enforcing these laws by violence in the streets? Why do so many of them wage violent Jihad here, whose whole purpose is to force submission to Islamic law?

I gotta go with PMK on this one. If muslims were coming to Western countries to embrace freedom and reject Sharia they would not be creating ever expanding no-go zones where Sharia rules above the laws of the country they are in.
Taqiyya is a tough nut to crack for us in the West. Reasonable honesty is expected in Western nations, but muslims have no issues with lying through their teeth when in comes to defending the religion of peace.

You need to do a bit of research regarding the desire for Sharia law with the Muslim Liberal Cabinet members in Canada. Islamists are disproportionally represented in the Canadian Government, and that is NOT an accident, it is quite deliberate. Trudeau has done this intentionally.

Malaysia has rarely been moderate, as has been noticed here over the years of posthumous conversions of non-muslims, the refusal to allow Malays to declare anything other than islam as their religion, the Bhumiputra system which discriminates against non-muslims, not non-Malays, and so on But their current government is an ally of Turkey and Pakistan, and in terms of global geopolitics, is allied to China
However, how did it even get this far? I thought that Twitter already has in its payroll an army of jihadis ready to take down any posts critical of muslims or islam
Keith O says
This sounds like the work of some insignificant desk jockey trying to make a name for himself by showing his bosses how devout he is in bringing to the attention of twitter this enemy of islam.
Problem is, people have been given a death sentence for doing far less, or simply being accused of doing less.
It’s a bit like the good old days of the witch hunts the christians had, when people could be eliminated for whatever reason with a mere accusation of being a witch etc.

Malaysia demands Twitter to take down comment critical of Muslim sympathizers of Taliban
………….
Yeah, so much for Malaysia being “moderate”. Now even criticizing the bloody Taliban is “Islamophobic”.
If Twitter has any integrity, they will tell them to take a long walk off a short pier. Not sure I’d count on that, though…

Once upon a time, a business could conduct business and if one didn’t like the business, they took their business elsewhere.
In the present climate, demands come from every corner, as though no one has a business any longer…as if all businesses are considered the property of all and all who oppose Truth, Justice, and what’s Right, will insist that all others must give in and allow themselves to be ordered about and dictated to
the twitter people have silenced a lot of people recently because these ones wrote things with which twitter didn’t agree…silencing free speech on their site.
Now, will they go along with this demand by mozlums to not tell the Truth about a terrorist group?
If they stand behind the guy, it will be a big surprise.
