New in PJ Media:
How inevitable was this? Senators Susan Collins (R-D) and Joe Manchin (D-Mostly) are enraged at Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, claiming that both misled them as to where they stood on Roe v. Wade. And because of these alleged “lies,” wunderkind Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Double Martini) is howling for their impeachment. Of course! It’s straightforward from here: impeach Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Thomas for good measure; get a few spineless Republicans to vote with the Dems and put a few Leftist ideologues on the Court; and vote 6-3 to reinstate the federal prohibition on states outlawing abortion. In today’s hyper-politicized political environment, with the Justice Department branding outraged parents terrorists and the Department of Homeland Security abortively (!) planning to stamp out “disinformation,” this scenario is not as farfetched as it should be.
Collins asserted that the Dobbs v. Jackson decision overturning Roe v. Wade was “inconsistent with what Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh said in their testimony and their meetings with me, where they both were insistent on the importance of supporting long-standing precedents that the country has relied upon.” This is likely to be a simplistic and reductionist characterization of what Kavanaugh and Gorsuch actually said to her, as it doesn’t take a legal eagle to realize that respect for precedent is one thing, but some decisions are wrong and must be set aside no matter how old they are. If long-standing precedents are to be kept in place in any and all circumstances, then the Dred Scott decision striking down anti-slavery laws would have been unassailable, as well as the pro-segregation Plessy v. Ferguson, which was in place for 58 years, longer than Roe v. Wade.
As heedless as Collins was to all that, Manchin prattled on in a similar vein, saying that he was “deeply disappointed” in Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, and adding: “I trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was settled legal precedent and I am alarmed they chose to reject the stability the ruling has provided for two generations of Americans.” A stability based on 63 million murdered children may not be the best foundation for a healthy, well-ordered society, but on that, Manchin was silent.
Kavanaugh did say during his confirmation hearings that Roe was “important precedent of the Supreme Court that has been reaffirmed many times.” At his hearings, Gorsuch said of Roe that “a good judge will consider it as precedent of the U.S. Supreme Court.” Neither statement amounts to an affirmation that they wouldn’t vote to overturn it, but that’s what Collins and Manchin would have you believe.

Andrew Blackadder says
Just imagine the reaction of these so called feminists if the Supreme Court actually made abortion illegal across the 50 States.
mortimer says
Agree … they are pretending that abortion is now 100% banned in the USA. Nothing could be further from the truth. Abortion may be even more available in states that want POST-PREGNANCY abortion (i.e. infanticide).
Does the US constitution also contain a woman’s right to commit infanticide?
Rod says
It is curious that the worthy judges are so deeply concerned about the plight of unborn children, while they flatly refuse to take the most obvious measures to protect the lives of living children, murdered in their classrooms and elsewhere, every day, every week, year after year after year.
Just another of those oddities that characterise the loopy brain-functions of the extreme right.
Phil Copson says
It’s curious that the worthy Left are so deeply unconcerned about the plight of the thousands of innocent people gunned down by criminals each year in Dem-run cities such as Chicago and Baltimore, that they concentrate on taking guns from the law-abiding instead.
Just another of those oddities that characterise the Lefty brain functions of the extreme Rod.
mortimer says
The Dems rationalize their plan to create a one-party state with full censorship of opposing views by every sort of gaslighting argument they can muster. They switch their arguments (‘control of my own body’) when it becomes OPPORTUNISTIC to do so … as with involuntary vaccination.
The Dems reveal their amorality almost every time they speak.
They claim to defend women while killing babies intentionally. Let it be noted that legal, surgical abortion is NOT without risks, and that women die every year from it.
mortimer says
Agree with Phil. LEGAL gun owners who have all their marbles are NOT the problem.
The PROBLEM is CRIMINALS … and the Dems are releasing them from jails and they are IMPORTING CRIMINALS with open borders.
SUCH GASLIGHTING! No wonder one MILLION sensible people have left the Dems this year and joined the Republican Party.
The Dems now only support a tiny minority of extremists … not the mainstream.
Rod says

I’ve heard that to stop a bad guy with a gun, you need a good guy with a gun. So when are these good guys going to show up?
In my country (very primitive, obviously), almost nobody has a gun, and almost nobody gets shot.
gravenimage says
“Rod” has claimed many times before that his country has no problem with guns, or Jihad terror attacks, or any other issues.
And then he consistently refuses to name this paradise…
somehistory says
thanks, Phil Copson, for your “worthy” comment. Really “worthy.”
Wellington says
Strongly seconded.
Rarely says
Phil.
Everyone is law-abiding — until they’re not.
gravenimage says
Spot on, Phil.
And this is just a twist on “Rod’s” usual shtick–that no one should be allowed to condemn Jihad murder because the US hasn’t rendered all gun ownership illegal.
Rod says
Phil, the “worthy Left” as you call them, (as well as the right and the centre), are not “unconcerned”, but are horrified and incredulous, all over the world, by the continuing carnage (in Chicago and Baltimore if you say so), and in hundreds or perhaps thousands of other places throughout the USA. Haven’t you noticed? Really? Have a quick look at the world’s view of the mighty USA and its murder rates which are many times higher than the rates in so many other countries.
Perhaps you’re so ill-informed because you’re so obsessed with your hatred of other people far less violent than the Americans who kill and maim each other (including children) with such sickening frequency.
My point about the murders of living children remains valid. What’s wrong with those judges?
gravenimage says
Most of the violence comes from *illegal* ownership of guns–and yet those who want to criminalize gun ownership are so often the same people who condemn prosecuting crime.
And then, this from “Rod” is claiming the murderous Jihadists are actually non-violent. Not long ago he was sneering at condemnation here of a Jihadist beheading his victim. He considers opposing this “hate”. Just sickening, but not surprising given the source.
Wellington says
Rod:
Can you name me one NRA member who has ever committed a mass shooting?
As for the murder rate in cities like Chicago and Baltimore, these are overwhelmingly committed by young black males, often against other young black males. And do you think these young barbarians would honor any gun control legislation at all? Gee, we outlawed lots of drugs and, gosh, you don’t see them anywhere, now do you?
Bad guys always find ways to get what they want and then do bad things. Wake the Hell up.
BTW, why not tell us what country you are from?
Rod says
Folks, a horrific number of people in the USA are killing each other and getting killed – every single day. Blathering about who is doing it, or where their guns come from is a pathetic and laughable attempt to pretend it’s not a problem. It is a problem. It’s appalling!
It doesn’t happen in Sweden, Germany, Canada, Australia, England, Finland, Poland, Slovakia, etc. etc, etc.
Americans are very very very violent. They have more guns than they have children. And they think that’s normal behaviour.
And you, carefully looking elsewhere, obsess about a Muslim who threw a stone at somebody?
This is clear and unmistakeable evidence of a serious mental disorder.
Wellington says
Rod: No one or sense pretends that violence in America is not a problem. You set up a straw man and then knocked it down. Got to do better next time.
And who is doing the killing and where they are getting the guns (overwhelmingly illegally) are both legitimate matters. Minus young black males who engage in gun violence, yes just this one exception, and America would have a far lower murder rate. This is important because the breakdown of the black family (e.g., 77% of black babies are born out of wedlock and this is a prescription for many, many fatherless homes) has been a true tragedy. Did you know that young black males in Chicago alone kill each other more than twice over yearly than American police kill young black males nationally on an annual basis? Did you also know that a policeman in America is 18.5 more likely to be killed by a young black male than the other way around?
As for obsessing about a Muslim throwing a stone, you really now are being disingenuous. Just since 9/11 there have been over 41,000 documented Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide with death and maiming a voluminous feature in these attacks. You either know all this or should know this. Islam is not just another religion but the spiritual predecessor of Nazism—master faith v. master race. To this day, every major school of Islamic theology, Sunni or Shiite, teaches that a Muslim who leaves Islam must be killed. No other major religion has this rot in its theological blueprint. Islam also disallows true freedom of speech and, once again, you either know this or should know it. Islam also requires the entire world to eventually be under Islamic domination and jihad has been a major instrument in ensuring this. There are 109 verses in the Koran requiring Muslims to wage war upon humanity to make all the world subject to Islam. By contrast, and as just one example from other religions, the New Testament has 0 verses requiring Christians to wage war to bring all the world under Christian domination. When Christians sometimes did so in the past, they were violating the tenets of their faith. When Muslims do this, they are fulfilling a major tenet of their creed. Huge difference. Again, wake up.
And, once again, why don’t you tell us what country you live in? Why are you hiding this? There is no reason to do so.
Rod says
So reassuring to know that no NRA member has committed a mass shooting. So, it must be somebody else. So reassuring to know that “most” of the violence comes from “illegal” guns. Where do the illegal guns come from – could it be from American gun factories and American gun shops and the American gun culture?
It’s not reassuring to know that an 18 year old college boy can walk into a shop and buy a shotgun with which he intends to kill children. And that such purchases can and do happen every day, perfectly legally, in your country. (Not in many others). It’s not reassuring to know that your “worthy” highest judges in the land can’t or won’t see how insane this is.
It’s not reassuring to know that there are more deadly weapons in the USA than there are citizens.
It’s not reassuring to know that the murder rate in the USA is eight or more times the rate in Spain, Italy, Norway, and other western countries – yes eight (8) times. Why is it relevant to talk about illegal guns or criminals, or “a straw man”, when these facts are facts?
I want to know how you people have the unbelievable arrogance to condemn another culture for violence, as if you have some moral authority to do so. As if your culture is superior to theirs, despite its ever more obvious failings. You have none. Your lovingly nurtured hatred of others blinds your minds to reality. As if hatred will achieve anything but more violence. To sane people, your obsessions are disgusting as well as idiotic.
Since 9/11 there have been over 41000 Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide – thank you Wellington. And by my admittedly approximate calculations, there have been, since 9/11, about 300,000 murders in the USA, give or take say 25,000. These are not religious fanatics killing infidels or heretics. They are American citizens killing each other.
But perhaps this is just another “straw man”. We gotta remember – always – Muslims are violent! And we gotta hate them.
Infidel says
Interesting how someone who’s silent on all the jihad activity worldwide is just as silent on violence against Pregnancy Counseling Centers, churches and the like. A wacko of the first order!
E T says
Yes Rod, whatever you say Rod, people here on Jihad watch understand where you are coming from.
Albert Einstein may have been referring to your peoplekind Rod, when he said, “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.”
Rod says
I’d be surprised if Einstein ever thought an insult was an argument.
CogitoErgoSum says
AOC, Collins and Manchin are lawmakers. Why don’t they come up with a law on abortion? They should concern themselves with doing their own jobs.
CogitoErgoSum says
I will admit that I do sometimes forget things. I just remembered that I forgot that maybe these people are not smart enough to figure out how to write an abortion law that will be in line with the Constitution so they were relying on the justices at the Supreme Court to keep them from having to do that. I see why they are so upset.
somehistory says
aoc was a bartender. She knows about as much law as a bottle of vodka a turnip knows more law.
As a guy named Webb said to FOX news, she hasn’t written a law, got one passed…and should “do her job.”
Her tweets show she doesn’t understand beans about how things work.
she should just go back to her previous employment and allow someone with a working brain to take her seat. any vegetable would do better….and look better too.
CogitoErgoSum says
Yes, she would have to know something about the Constitution and, well, it would take away from her Twitter time to read it, not to mention how long it might take her to look up the meaning of some of the big words in it.
somehistory says
Yes, as in the word Law, and “life, and liberty and pursuit of happiness’ and “progeny” and “due process.”
she knows less than nothing, but shoots her mouth off often enough that everyone should know what she doesn’t…that she’s an idiot.
Infidel says
Correction, SH – she did author the ‘Green-New-Deal’ (it’s amazing how original these millennials are – Green New Deal, Blexit, et al). It’s another thing that Mitch put it to an immediate vote on the Senate Floor and got it mowed down, forcing several Dems to go on record as voting this way. 10 years from now, when they vote for it, it could come back to haunt them
somehistory says
thank you, Infidel. If I ever speak to the guy, Mr. Webb, I’ll mention that.
I’m glad it was shot down. Perhaps it not going through and becoming law is why he said she never did.
Rod says
I hate to alarm you, but AOC’s “Green New Deal” and similar ideas and policies are sweeping the world. From today’s news (from the real world) –
Reuters
Wed 29 Jun 2022
“EU countries clinched deals on proposed laws to combat the climate crisis in the early hours of Wednesday, backing a 2035 phase-out of new fossil-fuel car sales and a multibillion-euro fund to shield poorer citizens from the costs of carbon dioxide emissions.
After more than 16 hours of negotiations, environment ministers from the 27 member states agreed their joint positions on five laws, part of a broader package of measures to slash planet-heating emissions this decade.”
That train left the station a year or two ago, en route to places you can’t even imagine, and you folk didn’t even notice, too busy with your tiny-minded obsessions with Islam and hatred.
Time to wake up and look around you? Or do you prefer life in fantasyworld?
somehistory says
From where I sit, and I have thought a lot about this: Justices are just as free to listen and consider good and/or new arguments from lawyers who present before the Supreme Court as those judges in lower courts who set convicted…convicted by a jury of their peers…criminals free on technicalities or arguments of law or new evidence not previously presented.
Even the old prune and pro-baby killer, rbg, said that this prior ruling that said women were free to kill the unborn and face no penalty was a bad one.
So these guys on the bench listened and agreed with the arguments made by Justice Alito and Justice Thomas…who have not hidden how they viewed the prior ruling and they decided the “precedent” they may have talked to collins and the senate about, was less important than the arguments made by the older and more experienced Justices.
colliins, esp, thinks she won’t be reelected because she was saying she thought the two she now is backbiting would go with the flow and keep the baby-killers mollified…they are never happy…but can be mollified…somewhat.
Infidel says
Collins was just reelected 2 years ago. I recall having a big online battle on Breitbart w/ someone who argued about the importance of the GOP having the majority, and glossing over the fact that she (and Murkowski and increasingly even “Mitt-happens” Romney) vote w/ the Dems on any issue which is marginal and critical. Such as the gun vote last week
I really wish Maine Republicans would just skip the Senate vote whenever her name is up, or primary her. I’d rather see that seat occupied by an authentic communist than a fake conservative
somehistory says
after the “leak” and before the final ruling, people were all over collins to make sure she did what she promised and were condemning and blaming her for confirming the two men for Justices. She kept saying that they had come to her and spoken ‘privately’ with her and assured her that they would not vote to undo the ruling. Evidently, she couldn’t cause the roe travesty to be voted into codified law.
so, she has two years to get those voters back on her side by whining that they “lied” to her. that should make it all hunkydory.
Infidel says
Given the sort of liars these New England RINOs have been, it is a tad funny to watch them being paid back in full! Hopefully, Collins gets primaried in 4 years and Murkowski this year itself
somehistory says
Pretending is the same as lying, in the *Book* I read. they pretend so people will vote them in and then keep lying and saying they are trying…just not always what they said they would try.
somehistory says
satan calling someone a liar
““It’s not enough to tell people to vote”: Omar calls to investigate justices who “lied under oath””
i. elim, pretending to be i. omar, lied to Congress about her knowledge of her husband/brother’s whereabouts.
the Justices did not “lie.” They said how they felt at the time. Unlike i. elmi, who knew all along where her husband/brother was and that she had helped him enter the country illegally.
So, while Congress is fiddling around with the jan 6 thingy, they have no time to impeach this ugly, lying snake and fraud. And, as another Dem running for her seat says, she’s not even a citizen.
her sowing is about to be ready for reaping. (Revelation “put your sickle in and reap.” Revelation 14:15
“Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, “Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” NIV)

Wellington says
No misleading. This itself is a lie. Respecting judicial precedents, even having a deep respect for them, does not equate to never overturning them, as Robert Spencer himself mentioned above.
A related matter: the Dobbs decision, by turning over the Roe decision, accomplished something very democratic, to wit, instead of having nine people decide about a most controversial issue, i.e., abortion, the Dobbs decision will now allow about 150 million people in 50 states to make this decision. Can’t get much more democratic than this.
Infidel says
Yeah, whatever happened to ‘Stare Decisis’ in cases like ‘Brown vs Board of Education’ or ‘Dred Scott’ or others like them?
Wellington says
Well, Infidel, revered precedent for Supreme Court decisions for a Leftist or a RINO involves a very selective, highly selective, “honoring”—and thus is exhibited once again the hypocritical nature of a multitude of compromised “thinkers” about this interesting judicial issue.
But you already know all this though it is my wont to state the obvious at times nonetheless. So, mea culpa.

“‘Night of Age’: Grannies Storm Kavanaugh’s Home
By Joseph Simonson and Aaron Sibarium
If the leak of Roe v. Wade’s demise was a bang, the left’s commitment to terrorizing Supreme Court justices in their homes went out with a whimper.
The Washington Free Beacon on Friday visited the homes of several conservative justices. Although an armed man had attempted to assassinate Brett Kavanaugh weeks prior, the mood on his Chevy Chase street was tranquil absent an elderly protester and her followers. Police watched as a group of half a dozen protesters, many of them wearing surgical masks, chalked pro-choice slogans on the sidewalk and marched back and forth with signs. The most militant of the bunch was an elderly woman brandishing a coat hanger—plastic, not metal—who led the protesters in chants of “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”
At one point, the cops ordered Chinese food.
The protests outside Justice Clarence Thomas’s Virginia home were not much different. Rather than acting enraged, most of the attendees—overwhelmingly white—banged on drums and sang what sounded like African-American spirituals. A mustachioed neighbor of Thomas’s observed nearby, cigar in mouth.
Members of the media appeared to outnumber the protesters at both justices’ homes.”
