Price condemned the statements because the U.S. under Biden’s handlers is following a policy of appeasement of Islamic supremacists and jihadis. What Nupur Sharma said was accurate. Hadiths that Muslims consider authentic record that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage:
“The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).
Another tradition has Aisha herself recount the scene:
The Prophet engaged me when I was a girl of six (years). We went to Medina and stayed at the home of Bani-al-Harith bin Khazraj. Then I got ill and my hair fell down. Later on my hair grew (again) and my mother, Um Ruman, came to me while I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends. She called me, and I went to her, not knowing what she wanted to do to me. She caught me by the hand and made me stand at the door of the house. I was breathless then, and when my breathing became all right, she took some water and rubbed my face and head with it. Then she took me into the house. There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, “Best wishes and Allah’s Blessing and a good luck.” Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. (Bukhari 5.58.234).
Muhammad was at this time fifty-four years old.
“US condemns offensive comments made by expelled BJP officials Nupur Sharma, Naveen Jindal,” Press Trust of India, June 16, 2022:
Washington: The United States encourages India to promote respect for human rights, the Biden Administration said here.
“We’ve condemned the offensive comments made by two BJP functionaries, and we were glad to see that the party publicly condemned their statements,” State department spokesperson Ned Price told reporters at his daily news conference on Thursday.
“We regularly engage with the Indian government at senior levels on human rights concerns, including freedom of religion or belief,” he said.
“We encourage India to promote respect for human rights. The Secretary (of State) said, when he was in New Delhi last year, that the Indian people and the American people believe in the same values: human dignity, human respect, equality of opportunity, and the freedom of religion or belief,” Price said in response to a question….
mgoldberg says
appeasement is not respect for human rights, nor cognizant of why that is so.
By denying the right to speak facts, and then to have them understood in context and content, the reality of human rights is gossamer and worse…. it is erased.
Those who deny the rights of ALL, and that would be not merely Jihadists, but… all their enablers, leftists too… who deny the right to speak create the vacuum and emptiness where human rights are denied.

Islam is an HONOR/SHAME culture and so, even if a statement is factual, accurate and true in every particular, it is not ‘permissible’ (halal) if the statement EMBARRASSES Muslims and if they DO NOT WISH NON-MUSLIMS to know it.
The marriage of 54-year-old Mohammed to 6-year-old Aisha is provable from Islam’s primary source texts as well as RECOMMENDED by Islamic scholars over the centuries. There are few Islamic facts that are so well established.
MUSLIMS SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO THE WORLD FOR PROMOTING PEDOPHILIA !
somehistory says
“We encourage India to promote respect for human rights.”
This must not include freedom of speech/expression, to speak Truth or even just to ask a question that borders on a statement of Truth.
why not make a statement about mozlums should be willing to allow others to speak the Truth about their disgusting, depraved, despicable, demonic death-dealing demands?
Mr. Wimpy….apologies to the Wimpy of Popeye days….and crew don’t want to anger those they know will chop, dice and slice and whine and lie and bomb and attack to destroy…a.k.a. the cult followers of a miserable, disgusting, demented son of satan the devil, raper of small children and women slaves, lying sack of slime.
So no one other than mozlums are allowed the “human rights” to tell the Truth about the feculent matter known as a “prophet” to mozlums everywhere. Only the slaves to the cult of submission to satan are allowed to say what evils their hero was doing and lusted to do.

Infidel says
How exactly was Nupur Sharma violating anyone’s human rights? She’s about as guilty as any of the January 6th conspirators were of plotting a coup
When this is the moral stance of the US, it’s hard to take seriously its claims of being morally superior to the likes of Russia, even if that’s true
gravenimage says
This creep does *not* speak for all Americans.
Infidel says
He does speak for the US government though – the same government that’s lecturing other countries about the moral need to ostracize Russia
somehistory says
the same *self-righteous* government wants to have an executive order that declares a “public health emergency” if roe is shot down by the Supreme Court.
From one of those lusting to continue murdering and dismembering tiny babies, ““We are at a crisis moment for abortion access in this country, and officials at all levels of government must respond “…says a female who is in charge of “policy development” in the planned …continuing….genocide misnamed ”parenthood.” per Boston Globe.
so, the unborn don’t get to have any Human right to life extended to them, being called a “public health emergency,” but mozlums have plenty of *right* to riot, lie and call for the death of someone telling the Truth.
The government is a beast.
Infidel says
Not surprising that a government which is okay w/ judges being threatened would chose to condemn a person receiving death threats in another country, as opposed to the mobs issuing the threats. Turning this country for the first time in history into an active force for evil
somehistory says
Yes, Infidel, it is no surprise, but it is disgusting…on both counts; regarding the judges here and the poor woman in India.
Being an American used to mean something. Now it’s beginning to mean something with which I don’t wish to identify.

State department condemns
Sharma, but not a word from anybody in the administration about the churches and pregnancy centers being vandalized and firebombed.
Hypocrisy at its finest.

GE,
some repubs have written to garland and told him he needs to charge the perps with “domestic extremism terrorism” and said they need to be prosecuted. The fbi says they are investigating the crimes.
Not likely that garland will do that, and the fbi might find something, but they may not follow through from the top where they could.
somehistory says
this is really getting out of hand….this reprisals from those with some *authority* because someone says or won’t say something another *protected* class wants said or not said.
“The changes in the Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook, approved by a vote of 8-4, make it possible for students as young as fourth grade to be suspended for “malicious misgendering” or “deadnaming” their peers. “Deadnaming” is a word used to describe the act of referring to someone by a name they used prior to transitioning. The changes would also bar elementary and middle school students from using cellphones during the school day, and prohibit high school students from using their cellphones in classrooms, bathrooms and locker rooms.”
Completely ignoring the **freedom of speech** guarantees speech that may offend is protected.

Infidel says
‘Deadnaming’ is one thing, and the idea that minors have the right to rename themselves is novel in its own right. But most ridiculous is the trend of kids (and adults) picking their own pronouns, and forcing others to use it when referring to them. Particularly the usage of ‘they’ or ‘them’ or ‘their’ as a singular pronoun
I am fine w/ calling Caitlyn Jenner or Chelsea Manning by their chosen names, but neither of them gets to be called a ‘she’, whether they like it or not. Most cells in their body would still have XY chromosomes
somehistory says
I’ve seen reports that the kid can change their “preferred” whatever from one day to the next and to expect other people to just keep going along or be punished by the school is just too far.
If a girl wants to be called Tony one day and Jim the next, she should expect that people aren’t going to keep up and she should respect the rights of others to be as they are. But they are not being taught to respect the normal.
James Lincoln says
Yes, Infidel.
I will call a so-called “trans” by their chosen name, but never by a medically inaccurate pronoun.
James Lincoln says
According to the feature article, the Secretary of State believes in “the freedom of religion or belief…”
But, apparently, not any *criticism* of religion or belief…
somehistory says
Unless one is non mozlum. these can be criticized….anywhere a mouse can go, like a preposition…inside and outside the U.S.
Infidel says
Not just that, he believes that it’s okay to issue death threats to someone, but that recipient of the death threats should still be condemned for whatever she’s done
James Lincoln says
Tragically true, Infidel.

US condemns allegedly blasphemous but accurate remarks by Nupur Sharma
…………..
Just repulsive.
Not only was what Sharma said perfectly accurate by Islamic texts themselves, but she and her family are now in hiding over riots and death threats against her.
Is this *really* something my own nation wants to support? Well, maybe Biden does…
Infidel says
I would not be surprised if Ned Price checked w/ Ilhan Omar before issuing that statement
Devasur says
As I always said USA and India can never be allies and people wonder why India is getting closer to Russia.
Infidel says
Uh, things were fine when Trump was in power. Aside from the USCIRF, due to it being staffed by washed-up Christian Coalition ex leaders, US and India got along very well, be it Quad or most other things. Only differences were trade, and that you’ll see even b/w the best of allies. You saw it in the press conference in Delhi when Trump was goaded by the BBC to criticize Modi and simply declined
As for Russia, they too don’t believe in friends, just interests. In the weeks before the invasion of Ukraine, Russia was warming up to Pakistan, probably for the first time in history. India is right to keep buying oil from Russia: in fact, they should max out on that and ramp down what they are buying from the likes of Iraq and Saudi Arabia, not to mention Qatar. However, India should withdraw from all groups that China or Pakistan are members of – BRICS, SCO, SAARC and so on
OLD GUY says
When you have to lie to keep someone or group happy, you are lying to your self about the value of their friendship. Islam can stand up to criticism about itself or their prophet Mohammad who was a man and therefore a sinner.
Infidel says
Actually, it can’t, which is why muslims rage whenever they perceive any slight to islam
