Ilhan Omar Loudly Booed by Somali Crowd in Minneapolis

Amid all the division and strife in America today, there are a few bright spots. The Somali singer Suldaan Seeraar was making his first appearance in North America on Saturday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis, and the place was packed with his expatriate countrymen, eager to see the show. But then who should show up to spoil the moment but the ardently patriotic and notably charming Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mogadishu), who was treated to a remarkable display of how unpopular she has become with her core constituency. Is Ilhan Omar headed for a lucrative commentator job on MSNBC? Hey, America is the land of hope.

According to the Daily Wire, “as Omar was introduced on stage with her husband, the crowd began to boo loudly. Some other performers on stage told the audience, ‘don’t do this,’ as they continued to boo Omar. ‘Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, we don’t have all night,’ Omar said as the crowd kept booing.”

The husband in question was not Omar’s famous brother, but her latest better half (who doubles as her political strategist), Tim Mynett. That in itself may have been part of the reason why the crowd was so unhappy to see her. The marriage raised eyebrows in Muslim communities, as Islamic law forbids Muslim women to marry non-Muslim men. The controversy over this largely died down when Mynett reportedly converted to Islam, but clearly some ill will and suspicion linger. Strikingly, Omar has never received blowback from within the Muslim community for her notorious marriage to her brother, as it is generally understood to have been a fiction for immigration purposes, so as far as the guardians of Islamic morals were concerned, no harm was done.

Another aspect of Omar’s tumultuous time in the House of Representatives that isn’t likely to have angered the Somalis in the land of Harmon Killebrew and Lou Grant is her relentless anti-Semitism. Most recently, Omar rushed to judgment over the killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, tweeting: “She was killed by the Israeli military, after making her presence as a journalist clearly known. We provide Israel with $3.8 billion in military aid annually with no restrictions. What will it take for accountability for these human rights violations?” In reality, it is much more likely that a bullet fired by a Palestinian killed Abu Akleh.

The Somalis of Minneapolis are much more likely to have been still angry at Omar for tweeting on June 1: “Happy Pride Month! We won’t stop fighting until all LGBTQ+ Americans can live free from discrimination.”

    Since she so admires Shara instead of the US Constitution then after Omar is put out of Office as she should be., then she can leave the US and go to live in some islamic nation where the law of the land is

          In a post of his from today on this thread since removed he wrote: “All LGBT and other Americans should be caught, raped etc and shipped to Africa as slaves”.

          Then, in another removed post he accused Somehistory of being a member of the KKK and threatened to shoot her multiple times. (Actually, the post is far more vicious than this–it goes into grotesque and very disturbing detail).

While you’re at it, why don’t the Indo-Aryans move out and leave everything south of the Himalayas and Hindu Kush to the Dravidians and mundari peoples? Why not have the Arabs move out of the Fertile Crescent and North Africa to leave them to the Amazigh, Copts, Aramaeans, Jews, and Samaritans?

        • Kepha, Shyam Mehta has claimed to have been living in the United States but that he has now moved back to India. He has said that India will soon be violently depopulated (he hasn’t said exactly how that would happen, but that only 100,000 will survive–himself included).

          Glad he’s decamped from here–but hope he doesn’t do any damage in India.

  6. August 9th is the primary in Minnesota. Comrade Ilhan will have 4 challengers. Since that district is unlikely to go red, I just hope that the people who jeered her for whatever reason turn out to vote for one of her challengers

      Luckily, he is really, really bad at it–I am not a man living in Southport, North Carolina, but a woman living in Oakland, California.

      But this ineptitude does not make the intent here any less vicious.

      But then, this poster has, just today, advocated for raping and enslaving gay people, the genocide of all Camaroonians, said that the victims of child rape in England because the were all supposedly themselves child rapists in past lives, and threatened to torture another poster here (that comment also removed).

      So I suppose I should not be all that surprised. Hideous stuff, though.

      • When I saw those postings where he thought he was listing your residence, g, I was glad he was wrong, but wondered if Marc would toss them, anyway. Even being wrong, he was attempting to terrorize you into leaving him alone. I’m glad they have been removed.

        • Thanks, Somehistory. I don’t know who this guy in North Carolina is or why Shyam Mehta thought he was me–and I *certainly* hope that he hasn’t endangered this guy.

          But Shyam Mehta kept doubling down–exposing the town he thought I lived in, then the street, and then threatened to list the address. Who does that? He is just trying to silence anyone who says anything critical about his claptrap.

          I also noted Shyam Mehta’s threats against you–twisted stuff. I don’t know what this thug hopes to accomplish here.

        • He seemed intent on making trouble…just as mozlums do wherever they are.

          I wondered whose address he had, glad for you, but if it’s a real address of someone ..that makes them vulnerable.
          I read a little of what he wrote to me, but I didn’t see all of it, evidently, and just as glad I didn’t. I chose to ignore what I did see because I didn’t want to give him satisfaction.
          Hopefully, he’ll not be back.

        • Yes, Somehistory–I am concerned about this person’s safety as well–but hopefully few saw these posts. Doxing is ugly stuff in any case.

          And Infidel, I think that Shyam Mehta is likely gone for good–although some of these ugly trolls do sneak back under other usernames. Marc is definitely still here, but I know there are others involved in moderating, too, including Robert Spencer himself at times.

      • I don’t think that her ‘pride month’ posturing was the reason. I think it was her offering her most valuable real estate to an infidel, even if he did embrace islam: muslims who convert to islam are a status below those who were born into islam who in turn are a status below those who claim, or can claim that their earliest known ancestors were muslim

        • Could be–hard to tell. Certainly, Ilhan Omar, despite her enabling of Islam, is hardly living as a subservient Muslimah.

    Well, I’d *like* to cheer this, but these Somali Muslims are likely booing Ilhan Omar because she hasn’t said that she wants all gay people murdered. I doubt that this is any indication of their disapproving of her antisemitism or hatred of America.

    • More likely, they were celebrating Somali culture, and here was an aurat who had just discarded one of their own and married an American. That’s more likely the reason that they jeered, even if she hasn’t adapted the name ‘Ilhan Mynette’

  11. Just my opinion.
    They were booing her due to her gay support. But who knows maybe there is something more. Maybe she is much more corrupt than she appears to be and the Somali community knows something.

    • I think it’s more likely that she was jeered for having divorced a Somalian and married an American, even if he converted to islam
