Islamic law forbids the construction of new churches. Christians are “forbidden to ring church bells or display crosses, recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals and feastdays, and are forbidden to build new churches” – Reliance of the Traveller o.11.5 (6,7)
“Casualties reported in missile attack on Syria church opening ceremony,” The New Arab, July 24, 2022:
Deaths and injuries were reported after an attack on a church opening ceremony in central Syria on Sunday.
At least two people were killed and more than 10 others wounded when a missile targeted a mass gathering in the Al-Suqaylabiyah in the Hama governorate, reported state-run SANA.
The ceremony marked the opening of the Hagia Sophia church, the construction of which began in 2020.
SANA accused Turkey-linked “terrorist groups” of firing the missile, a label given by the Syrian regime to most opposition groups in the war-torn country.
It did not provide further information.
Videos on social media showed moments the attack happened as well as the aftermath.
Other pro-regime reports said drones spotted flying over Al-Suqaylabiyah were “being dealt with by the Syrian army and national defence units,” adding that one armed drone crashed near the site of the official attack.
It was not immediately made clear who was responsible….

Peaceful islam at work again. I’ve always thought that all this bullshit about how islam is peaceful is, is all about how once everybody has submitted and joined islam, then, and only then there will be peace. But maybe this is what islam’s peace is all about. No non-Muslim anything is allowed. What’s this, a church. No way, so they fire weapons at it. It is a bit like the peace you find in a loathsome place like China, with its thuggish regime. Anyone that steps out of line is destroyed, like that female tennis player a while ago, and so many others. Islam is nothing but endless violence, never about peace and tolerance..It never has been and it never will be.

Pretty much Tim, There can be zero chance of peace with an ideology that has no concept of the term.
If Islam took over the world we would then have more of the same barbarism as one faction tries to take out another faction for not being Islamic enough.
We already see this in some of the perfect Islamic paradises, only have to look at Yemin.

No doubt about that, Keith O. Muslims will always find some reason to go on killing people. As you say, if certain Muslims are not seen as devout enough, then they will be killed. Peace and islam just never go together. Never have and they never will. Violence seems to be the essence of islam. I know when I read parts of the Koran, I was mainly struck by all those calls for violence against the hated non-believers which is all of us non-Muslims.

Good exchange, Tim and Keith.

Thanks, gravenimage. I think one of the safest bets that anyone could ever make would be to say that peace and islam will never ever be seen together. Muslims will always find something to fight and kill people over. It is one of life’s certainties. It’s funny how many muddle headed people seem to consider islam to be peaceful.

Just more Islamic mental illness, nothing to see here.
Veracious_one says
notice how every Muslim country is in turmoil, there cannot be peace with Islam because peace is un-Islamic

I find it interesting that this church is named after the same historic church in Istanbul/Constantinople, which the Turks transformed into a mosque. In that context, Syria accusing Turkey and their stooges of being behind this seems credible. Is Hama under the control of the Assad regime, or is it under the control of pro-Turkey sunni rebels, be it the FSA or others?
