Recently republished by Sophia Institute Press, the 1971 book The Gods of Atheism by Catholic priest and commentator Vincent P. Miceli offers a comprehensive examination of the errors of leading atheist thinkers such as Friedrich Nietzsche and Karl Marx. Sophia Institute Press spokesperson Kristen Van Uden joined Conservative Casual Friday show host Andrew E. Harrod to discuss the malevolent theological and political influence of these individuals across history up to the present day.

I dont know if God exists or not as I just go about my life doing what I can, for myself and for others.
However a year or so back I was speaking with this British guy who told me he hated Fundamentalist Christians as they are all so 100% sure that God exists, so I asked him if he was 100% sure that God does not exist and answered a big… Well yeah,of course…
So I responded, does that make you a Fundamentalist Atheist?.
He FLIPPED out screaming thats not the same thing…
Seems to me its the exact same thing I replied, they are 100% and you are 100% sure, you call them Fundamentalists for their opinion so you are also a Fundamentalist…
He never spoke to me after and died last year so perhaps he found out one way or the other..

Thank you Scotsman48,
Thank you for your comment, refreshing to say the least.
Yesterday, I was speaking with someone about the troubling times we are in, and I asked him, isn’t it better to be prepared, i.e., food, water, etc., for the long term… and nothing happens, then to not be prepared, and… the worst happens? What have you lost?
The oldest person in the Bible was Methuselah, he lived to 969 years of age. What is that… compared to eternity? Can anyone get their mind wrapped around… eternity?
In the end, there either is, or there isn’t, life after death. There either is, or there isn’t, a Heaven and a Hell.
Wasn’t it Christianity that changed the world for the better?
When a person dies, someone who has lived their life according to the teaching of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, and has accepted Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, as his/her Lord and Savior… has that person lost anything when they die? Hopefully, while here on Planet Earth, that person made life better for those around him/her.
As the Apostle Paul said:
“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:” 2 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV)
“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
History is replete with people who were sincere in what they believed; however, history has shown that people are fallible and, prone to make mistakes. History has shown that some of these people were sincerely wrong in what they believed.
One such person was Albert Einstein, one of the most intelligent people to have lived on planet earth. While he was working on his General Theory of Relativity, he sincerely bought into the “group think” of his time, that our galaxy, the Milky Way, was the entire universe, and that it had always existed and was static, not expanding or contracting.
History has added Albert Einstein to the list of those who were sincerely wrong.

Yes, if there is “nothing”…No God, no eternal life, no hope for something better than mankind has today, then why do they get so angry at people who do believe when they can’t prove their theory? Probably because they can’t prove their theory and perhaps, some have serious doubts about being ‘right.’
thanks for the anecdote. Anger is their weapon against Christians….and those who question them about their belief in a lack of Divine Persons.

The difference being that religious fundamentalists on both sides of the main divide do seek to impose their beliefs on others. Those in Islam to the extent of murdering non believers. Atheists do not usually impose their views on others, leaving aside CCP and USSR, and Christianity and Islam have survived both of them. There are many Christians in China today. I arrived at atheism through my own thinking long before I had ever heard of the leading atheist writers, whom I have read since. They confirm my views..
As for Nietzsche and Marx I have never considered them atheist ‘gods’ or whatever Miceli labels them as. I read Marx on my degree course and barely know much about Nietzsche apart from quotes that I have heard. Neither of them have any influence on my thinking..

Same here.

While I’m not an atheist, there are, to be fair, 2 sects of Atheism: the Marxist school, which has Marx/Engels/Lenin/Mao substitute the gods, as well as the Ayn Rand school, which being Libertarian, has nothing. Granted that the former is far bigger than the latter, but the latter is not so insignificant so as to hand over the entire religion to the Marxists. Then there are also innumerable muslims who’ve switched to Atheism, but not to any other mainstream religion, and they too are not necessarily Marxist, even if they’ve never heard of Ayn Rand
gravenimage says
Actually, Infidel, Ayn Rand was *not* a libertarian. And Objectivism does have reason on its side–that isn’t “nothing”, I don’t think.
But you are definitely right that *not* all Atheists are Marxists or other thugs.
Hank says
Sadly, Atheists or Marxists never find out the truth as other religions do. If Atheists hold the truth and are right about what they believe in, or put their faith in during their lifetime, then they never will know that they were right as they cease to exist. However, they will know that they got it wrong if they (soul) still exist in an afterlife. A one sided coin.
While as in other mainstream religions the faithful find out if they were right about where they placed their faith and lifestyle in when they find themselves (soul) either in Heaven or in Hell.
Jesus instructed that you will know whether the Tree (in this life) is good or bad by its fruit. That should avoid lots of pitfalls today.
PRCS says
“If Atheists hold the truth and are right about what they believe in”
atheism
Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.
The doctrine that there is no God; denial of the existence of God.
The denial of theism, that is, of the doctrine that the great first cause is a supreme, intelligent, righteous person.
It’s what we don’t believe in.

since trying to live a life of following Christ, Who exhibited every good quality….kindness, gentleness, love of Right, preaching the Golden Rule, preaching morality, ethics, honesty, etc. is a good thing, there are no downsides to following Him.
If one is willing to suffer the condemnation and persecution from others, from the enemies of Christ, for the promise of a future reward, there is no downside to being Christian. There is hope in receiving better things.
for the atheist, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to hope for something better. Unless it’s just a better tomorrow, as in a literal next day, and not for some future time when their life will have come to an end.
Christins hope for both…a better next day and a better future which may be years away, but for which they will be around to live it.

I’m trying my best, too.
But sometimes I fall short…
somehistory says
We all do, but God only expects us to do *our* best, not the best of another, nor perfection. We do our best and He carries us the rest of the way.
Like the ‘footsteps in the sand on the beach.’ that is why Jesus said, “Get under my yoke with me.”

Muslims use the phrase “the enemies of Allah”.
Same idiotic thinking.

g, it seems to escape the notice of some that mozlums with their fake god came long after the God of the Bible, Who spoke to His Son, Who became Christ, when He created mankind in Their “image.” ‘Let us make man in *our* image, according to *our* likeness.”
when satan rebelled, he became an *enemy* of both God and Christ.
mozlums have tried…in vain…to wipe it all away by making similar claims, using similar wording…per the directions of satan
In this way, and others. mozlums harm everyone.
PRCS says
Not the point.
While followers of both refer to others as ‘enemies’ of their particular deity, I don’t recall JW posts by Jains, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, or others doing the same here.
Those who do not believe gods–any gods–have ever existed cannot be said ‘enemies’, making that notion idiotic.
Proselytizing for Christianity at Jihadwatch, as out of place as calling others to Islam here, does nothing to promote this website’s purpose.
Notes:
(1) neither Christianity nor Islam’s timelines have escaped this atheist’s notice
(2) assertions like “the God of the Bible, Who spoke to His Son, Who became Christ”–are not statements of fact

Walter Sieruk says
Karl Marx with his COMMUNIST MANIFESTO an long with his three volume THE CAPITAL in which he explained his economic political/philosophical scheme for a “classless and stateless society “in which “Everyone works according to his ability and receives according to his needs.’’ has many times over by refuted and discredited by genuine economists, sociologists and historians. These scholars have thoroughly exposed the many economic fallacies and flaws of Marxism way before the collapse of Communism in Russia and the Eastern bloc nations in 1992.
Therefore, even the recent history of the early 1990’s disproves Marxism as extremely erroneous. So, it’s Adam Smith with his THE WEALTH OF NATIONS that is valid and in contrast Karl Marx with his written nonsensical a full of folly and invalid.
So, it’s highly unlikely that Communist rulers [dictators] really believe in the obvious flawed economic fallacies of Karl Marx. Nevertheless, they all still need to publicly stand firm on the teachings, principles and precepts of Communism as laid down in the many writing of Marx. This is because evil is always looking for an excuse.
Therefore, Marxism is the excuse to set up and uphold tyrannical red regimes. As if those Communist dictators actually believe that in the future a “pure perfect Communist society “will come from their tyranny. As in the saying “Being cruel, brutal and deadly for the greater good” What nonsense! Thus, to uphold the ideals of Marxism, Communist tyrants as Kim Jong Un of North Korea cruelly persecute Christians.
For Christians believe in the Bible and Marxism is so very weak and fragile in its nature and because it lacks sound logic and rational arguments based on reason to uphold it, the whole Marxist system collapse down to the ground In the light in information of the Bible. Since Communists don’t have a firm foot based on reality and reason to base Marxism on in which is the foundation for the heinous rule. They resort to extremely harsh severe, malicious and murderous persecution against Christians and burn their Bibles.
