If you read Jihad Watch, the chances are excellent that you know about the Council on American-Islamic Relations and their connections to Hamas. However, leading off with this is not the most effective way to communicate to the uninitiated about the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
What you can do instead is show people news reports such as this one, which is a classic of its kind.
Someone vandalized the Beth Israel Sinai Synagogue in Racine, Wisconsin. The suspect smashed several windows wide open, and police have arrested that person. But the fact that police are not releasing the identity of the vandal and saying it is not a hate crime seems to suggest that this may be the act of a mentally ill person.
Then as Adam Rife of Racine’s WDJT continues to report on the details of the incident, Corey Saylor of CAIR suddenly makes a gratuitous appearance. Saylor contributes no additional information to help our understanding of the vandalism. And then he is gone as quickly as he appeared.
Notice the use of the plural “groups” when referring only to CAIR. TV stations will also use the term “some,” or “people,” or “activists” when referring to CAIR. TV reporters will also try to justify the inclusion of CAIR in a story by saying such and such is “receiving national attention,” although the organization CAIR may comprise as few as 3,000 people.
In fact, this very station WDJT ran a story that began with CAIR and ended with a statement from CAIR, but had nothing to do with CAIR at all outside of its obsessive hatred of white people.
Of the 115 people CAIR has attacked on TV, only four are not white. CAIR attacks white people on TV 97% of the time.
But CAIR also attacks black people and Muslims. There simply is no other group in the entire world that gets on TV as often as CAIR in order to push someone out of a job.
CAIR will publicize any transgressions by a white person, no matter how petty or ridiculous. When they were gunning for Dan Leonard because he mocked Ilhan Omar on his Facebook page, the school board he worked for was beset with phone calls and emails (many of which were later found to be from phony accounts).
We should be doing the same.
“They have nothing to do with this” should be a common refrain among the counter-jihad community. TV stations should experience an intifada of complaints about promoting CAIR, as well as demands for balanced coverage of this rogue group.
It is a completely realistic and achievable goal to stop CAIR from promoting itself and attacking people on TV.
If we can stop CAIR from weaponizing the TV news, we will have effectively defanged the snake.
“Police: no hate crime, but suspect facing charges for smashing synagogue windows,” by Adam Rife, WDJT, October 13, 2022:
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) — A suspect is facing charges for vandalizing Racine’s only synagogue.
Earlier this week someone allegedly threw bricks through several windows. The windows are still boarded up at the Beth Israel Sinai Synagogue.
The Racine Police Department is not investigating the vandalism as a hate crime, but one of the synagogue’s board members says this certainly was not done out of love….
Islamic organizations also spoke out against the incident.
Corey Saylor is the Research & Advocacy Director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He said, “An attack on one place of worship is an attack on all places where people go to interact with god.”…

“CAIR may comprise as few as 3,000 people.”
Follow the link and you will find that this number is from 15 years ago, and no source of information is given. I have repeatedly asked CAIR about its claim to be America’s biggest Muslim civil-rights organization: How many members? How big a budget? Who finances CAIR? What is America’s second-biggest Muslim civil-rights organization? But my inquiries have invariably been ignored. Maybe someone reading these words will have better luck in eliciting this basic information about CAIR.
Larry Estavan says
Hi Mark,
Much respect to you for sticking to this point about CAIR’s claims of being “large”.
I just want to clarify that the link about CAIR being only 3,000 people comes from Reed Rubinstein who came into procession of some of CAIR’s internal records while he defended Andrew Whitehead against CAIR’s lawsuit. Admittedly it is not enough, and we need to know much more about this very secretive group.
Some other indications that CAIR is about 3,000 people include:
CAIR and 130 other organizations held a march for Palestine in Washington D.C.. – https://www.meforum.org/islamist-watch/62450/an-islamist-flop
But, only about 1,000 people showed up. This is just a stunning rejection of and failure for them.
The revelation of CAIR’s misogyny is another indication that CAIR is not popular. – https://www.npr.org/2021/04/15/984572867/muslim-civil-rights-leader-accused-of-harassment-misconduct
We all know how particular Muslims are about their women, and this kind of thing is not going to ingratiate them with anybody.
The Shibly case leads to Lori Soraya and CAIR’s defamation suit against her. As a former board member of CAIR, she had access to many internal communications which she used in her counter suit against CAIR. – https://wecairblog.files.wordpress.com/2021/06/cairlawsuit62021-2.pdf
She absolutely body slammed them, and they turned tail and ran. – https://www.cair.com/press_releases/community-update-on-cyberstalking-by-lori-saroya-ex-staffer/
She is only one of several Muslim individuals, and groups that despise CAIR.
And, speaking of Shibly, here he is saying that in his experience he either knows someone on the TSDB watch list, or knows someone who knows someone on the watchlist. – https://youtu.be/4_ry24UY4jk?t=180
Considering there are less than 5,000 Americans on the watchlist it is entirely reasonable to believe he knows a good percentage of this percentage of the American Muslim community.
There are many other signs that CAIR is not popular. In fact, it seems the only people who think CAIR represents the Muslim community are credulous politicians and hack journalists.
But, the situation with CAIR isn’t going to collapse under the weight of its own absurdity, and injustice. Only we can stop it. That is why anyone reading this must take it upon themselves, like Andrew Whitehead, Lori Soraya, Pamela Geller, Robert Spencer, and Mark Spahn, to phone the TV stations, write e-mails, form groups, help friends find jobs, whatever it may be, or in a few short years CAIR will be so far up our fundament you won’t believe it. – https://youtu.be/ihaRx7MLTq8?t=1368

Hello, Larry Estavan. Thank you for your information-rich reply. I am presently plowing my way through one of the documents you cited,
https://wecairblog.files.wordpress.com/2021/06/cairlawsuit62021-2.pdf .
In reading it, I am surprised to learn that CAIR’s Executive Director Nihad Awad has the superpower of knowing the future; he told CAIR employee Ms. Saroya, that she was “the best Chapter Development Director that we have ever had and WILL EVER have” (emphasis added). Why is he so pessimistic about CAIR’s future?
How can I join CAIR? I asked their National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper — politely, I thought — but I got no reply at all. Can kafirs, Shiites, and atheists join? Is there a membership fee, or are CAIR’s expenses covered by generous overseas donors?
As a matter of history, I wonder how the organization’s name “Council on American-Islamic Relations” was chosen. An organization with a name of this type, such as the “Council on American-Irish Relations”, implies that Americans and Irish are two separate groups, with very little overlap. CAIR’s name implies that it is odd to be both an American and Islamic, which seems a dawah-unfriendly assertion.

The psychopath says, “It’s all about Me!” IMO, The members of c.a.i.rats org are psychopaths….everything is all about them. They have a need to stay in the spotlight. When others are the True victims, mozlums must insist that they are the victims.

One reason there are so many *ex’s*…and why these rats at that so-called “civil-rights” org are so pushy and demanding. And they never denounce those who are found to be rapists and murderers…like that creep in Florida.

CAIR is pure evil. As evil as Nazism though without the power. But imagine if CAIR acquired in America the same power that Nazism did as of January 1933. Chilling prospect, no?
There is nothing wrong with America that CAIR could ever fix. Actually, it’s a certainty that the more power CAIR might obtain the worse off America will be—directly proportional. CAIR benefits America in no way whatsoever. It is filled with giant negatives.
Additionally, I would note that CAIR is very much in keeping with what Islam is truly all about. In this respect, CAIR is indeed devout, accurate and loyal to the core.
Nazism—master race. Islam—master faith. Both totalitarian ideologies inimical to liberty and many other fine things. Conclude accordingly.

May I submit that it may actually be exponentially proportional.

It seems that every member of CAIR has an official job title. This may have something to do with how people are paid when they work for non-profit organizations. Their Wikipedia page is not at all flattering and is full of criminal charges, criminal accustations and criminal implications against their employees.

Why are these organisations receiving state funds? If they want to have their own religions, cliques and organisations let them fund it themselves but not with taxpayers money through government hand outs.
