New in PJ Media:
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Fang Fang) on Monday unveiled a demagogic new campaign video that is designed to heighten Leftist hysteria about the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the prospect of some states outlawing abortion. Swalwell captioned the video: “MAGA Republicans want women arrested for having an abortion. This is what that looks like. #LockHerUp”
This plays into the Left’s most paranoid fantasies about the “radical right” and the rise of “fascism,” but as Daily Signal reporter Mary Margaret Olohan pointed out, “This has never happened. But this is what it looks like when the Biden DOJ shows up at the home of a pro-life activist and arrests him in front of his screaming children. That has happened multiple times now.” Exactly. The Swalwell abortion appeal is the exact obverse of what’s really happening in America today and ignores the real source of contemporary fascism: Swalwell and his colleagues.
Swalwell’s video is the very definition of psychological manipulation. It begins with a father feeding a baby at the dinner table as a piano meanders sentimentally in the background. As Dad makes num-num-num sounds to encourage the happy baby to eat, the baby’s older sister, who looks to be about eight, says exasperatedly, “You’re weird.” Mom, brimming with affection, agrees happily: “He is weird. But cute.” Husband looks up from his baby-feeding duties, says, “Awww,” and the couple kisses, as the girl, clearly pleased and fascinated, keeps up her act by exclaiming, “Gross!”
Subtext: women who have had abortions are as American as apple pie, benign, normal, un-green-haired, un-tattooed, un-enraged, un-screaming, un-hateful. Why, they’re just like you and me, or rather, just like Ozzie and Harriet: benign, loving, kind, and above all, family-oriented. All those morbidly obese women with hair dyed unnatural colors and obscene slogans on their t-shirts? Forget ’em. The true face of abortion is just like your face.
This is, in other words, pure propaganda, and it gets worse. For at that moment, this idyllic scene is interrupted by blue-and-red flashing lights shining through the curtains and loud, insistent knocks on the door. Hubby asks, “What the hell?” which is a bit out of sync with the Father-Knows-Best vibe, but after all, it is a crisis moment. Wife opens the door to reveal two solemn cops, who might as well be holding “Defund the Police” signs.
One of them says: “Mary Anderson? I have a warrant for your arrest.” Stunned and baffled hubby asks: “Arrest for what?” Po-faced cop continues: “Penal Code 243 violation: unlawful termination of a pregnancy.” Husband recoils: “You gotta be kidding me!” Wife stammers: “That is, that is my personal business.” The officer says: “That’s for the courts to decide, ma’am. Your medical records have been subpoenaed, and Dr. Lander’s already in custody.” As she says, “You can’t just—” the cop continues unperturbed: “You will have to submit to a physical examination.”

E Swalwel projects of course. This is the playbook of the ‘progressives’ which is to say, the Democratic party. There doesn’t seem to be any discourse by anyone in that party denouncing the ever projecting propaganda from them.

Of course Eric Swalwell sleeping with a Chinese call girl spy does not get anyone in the FBI or any other law enforcement agency knocking at his front door or get him kick off any congress committees ?

Lying ghouls. They make up stuff to get people all heated up, and those who are easily heated, but who have trouble forming a rational thought, will not see this for what it is.
Lies to get elected. And many real moms are against the murder of unborn babies.
And many women who had a baby put down, got married and had a child or two, don’t want their family to know. At least, it was that way in the past. Because it was something shameful to admit.
In the past, before those like warren came along, and her followers listened to her screech, and became loud and proud of having killed a baby or two…or more…and died their hair blue, pink and green, gained excessive weight and learned to spew their own lies.
And quite a large number of those screeching for access to murder clinics, are of the alphabet crowd…such as the lawyer who took the “roe” woman all the way to the SC nearly fifty years ago…so she could make a name for herself and some extra big bucks, too. They can’t have babies…due to their practices…and don’t want others to give life to little children…until they find that they want to adopt.
This swalwell is a lying ghoul. Justice will seek him out.

I suppose that it is reasonable to assume that if having an abortion or providing one is illegal then people will be arrested and charged. It’s amazing how heated the discussion has become. In fact, as far as I can see, there never has been a discussion.
For various non-religious reasons, I do not favour abortion on demand but I have to wonder if it is desirable to return to days of the old coat hanger method. There is almost always a better alternative — almost always.
However, I can’t imagine opposing an abortion where the prospective mother’s health is at serious risk or in the case of a 12 year old rape victim.

Do you favor any limits on when an abortion can happen? After 12 weeks? 16? 24? 40? What’s the law in Canada?
Even in states like Florida and Virginia, lawmakers have proposed going to something like 14 weeks, which is about what it is in most European countries. Before the repeal of Roe v Wade, it was allowed right upto the point of delivery, and the only 2 countries that allow that, aside from the US, are China and North Korea. I doubt that even your country is that relaxed about it
I support it being legal in the first trimester at least, and beyond that, anything from 12-20 weeks is fine by me. However, beyond that, I am against abortion. For those rape/incest cases, I expect the victim, no matter what her age, to make a decision within that legally allowed window. Like if it is 14 weeks in one state and she refuses to have an abortion within that timeframe, she does not get to change her mind on week 15 just b’cos she had been raped. That reason was there previously as well
Nobody is proposing a return to coat hangers. What the repeal of Roe meant was that each state gets to make its own decision. California and New York can, for instance, allow it right upto birth, Maryland allows it up to 28 days after delivery. So let’s say Alabama or South Dakota outlawed all abortion, pregnant women can still travel to those states where abortion is still legal and get their abortions done. Even the issue of affordability doesn’t arise: most woke companies – which sadly is the majority today – have announced that they will fund the travel and abortion for employees who wish to have one. Those who are pro-Life have an uphill battle in every state, some more than others

I am no expert but your position sounds reasonable. I suspect it would cover the vast majority of cases. It seems that you and I are close enough that we could come to an understanding without much difficulty.
BTW. I prefer to call “pro-Lifers” anti-abortionists because all too often many of them aren’t quite so entrenched against lethal violence.

Projection – the one thing that both the Left and the Jihadists have in common
James Lincoln says
Yes, Infidel. You are right about projection:
“Projection can be made on an unconscious level, but other times, it’s done deliberately as a defense tactic. A politician, for example, will use projection to distract from their flaws and shift the blame.”
