Meanwhile, Iranian women are being killed fighting for the right not to wear hijab. Could the EU be more tone-deaf? Could it be more unmistakably on the path to submission and Islamization?
“Islamic veil: for the European Union, ‘freedom is in the hijab,'” translated from “Voile islamique : pour l’Union européenne, « la liberté est dans le hijab »,” Valeurs Actuelles, September 28, 2022 (thanks to Medforth):
A controversial campaign. Recently launched by the Council of Europe, via its program for inclusion and the fight against discrimination, a promotional campaign celebrating diversity and “freedom in the hijab” has been denounced by several politicians in France, leading some to request the removal of the posters. These feature portraits of several young veiled women with a message in English “Beauty is in diversity as freedom is in hijab” (“Beauty is in diversity as freedom is in the hijab”)
Passing relatively unnoticed at first, the campaign, co-financed by the European Union, ended up provoking the ire of Internet users and many political figures such as Nadine Morano, who challenged Ursula von der Leyen. “Madam President of the European Commission, I ask you to immediately put an end to this scandal of the use of European funds for scandalous Islamist propaganda. This campaign is an insult to Iranian women who are dying for their freedom,” she tweeted on Wednesday, September 28.
The acting president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, also reacted on social networks, denouncing the attitude of the European Union, which “takes a new step in submission by promoting the Islamic veil worn by a little girl.” “Let us all be well aware that this relativism and this cowardice are preparing the ground for a victory of obscurantism on our continent,” he added. This campaign shows in particular that religious freedom should not be confused with the promotion of a religious sign.

It would be appropriate to show all the women who’ve been murdered, maimed, had acid thrown in their faces and disfigured for now being ‘properly’ hijabed. Indeed their should be posters of all that put up along with those murdered in Iran of late. Also the history of those who died because they were not properly covered. Diversity.
PRCS says
Yes, within limits, there is beauty in diversity.
But there is no freedom in hijab, as there is no freedom in Islam.
Iranian women are protesting the Islamic Republic of Iran’s sharia enforcement (yes, Qur’an 33:59 does require Muslim women to wear ‘the veil”). While a brave and noteworthy protest, what other aspects of their “complete way of life” do they reject?
Of course, this issue is not exclusive to Iran.
Remember Afghanistan?
And how about our Saudi pals?
somehistory says
Ah, yes: freedom not to be beaten to death for not wearing it; freedom to not be arrested and beaten to death for not wearing it appropriately; freedom to walk out in the street and not be arrested for not wearing it;
so much *freedom* in the rag of slavery to the ideas brought forward from the supposed mouth of a mass-murdering raper of children, slave-trading thief and lying son of satan the devil.
mozlum females have freedom to not wear it or wear it in some nations….the U.S., U.K., Canada, and a few others…if their husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles, grandfathers, fathers-in-law, allow the woman to make a choice for herself.
The question is “Why are all of these people who aren’t being forced to wear the ugly rag telling everyone else how much *Freedom” is in it?

the so far corrupt, treacherous, bribed (from turkish money that are either funneled through katar or income from the state run smuggling or international prostitution networks of turkey), politicians that represent the union so far, and many thanks to germany for that condition, they have led europe to multiple suicide…..
the european union has commited suicide by importing the neomarxist american open borders policy and receiving million of young muslims who are here to conquer and enslave, in other words islamize…
the union also commited economic suicide, many thanks to germany, by accepting and imposing the same policies with the neomarxists in usa in energy production and by turning to the green energy, while countries like china continue to produce the most of the greenhouse gasses and continue therefore to economically develop on our expense….
it also commited energy suicide by imposing sanction on russia to which it is energy depended by 40% at least with natural gas….
the neomarxists of the usa have managed to drag and drug europe into many types of suicide and considering the outcry against the happy tramp parenthesis in the usa did not move an inch away from those steps it has taken ever….
it is a fascist oppressive and authoritarean ruling of the constitutions of so many countries that it is dragging to destruction with its policies and has been fascist and extremely strict with any country that does not accept its suicidal policies within members of the union….
this achieved by bribes on the main political figures of the union and the rest of the head of state…
just like some write on this website which expresses me, the neomarxists worldwide in an alliance with the islamic invasion have achieved the suicide of europe….

Yeah, right. “Freedom is in Hijab”. What a load of absolute bullshit. This is propaganda for barbaric, misogynistic islam. And this crap comes at the same time as the women are demonstrating against having to wear the primitive, hideous hijab in iran, because they want the Freedom to not wear the stinking hijab. Oppression is in the hijab. Freedom is in being able to choose freely whether you want to wear the shitty garment or not wear it. islam is always the opposite of freedom in all areas of life. Islam is always about bullying and intimidating people into toeing the barbaric line. I will say that I do believe that here in Australia there are plenty of Muslim women who do choose to wear the head garment and it is because they want to make a statement to all non-Muslims that they are Muslims and they don’t want to actually fit in with the non-Muslims in our society. The usual them or us mentality of muslims who don’t want to assimilate with non-Muslims. Total incompatibility as usual.
somehistory says
there are many in the U.S. who wear it also. There are probably some who would rather not, but due to being married or under another male’s thumb, they go with the safety rather than the boldness. Some who have thrown it off, have paid with their lives.
Then, there are some, like i elmi, and sarsour, and many I have personally seen whom one can tell are making the stupid attempt to ‘lord it over” those of us who don’t feel the need or desire to bend the back and knee and bow the head to satan
I have to wonder just how much they perspire under those awful rags….how much shampoo is needed to wash away the foul odors.
tim gallagher says
Yes, it is hard to know , somehistory, whether the women and teenage Muslim girls are scared not to wear the head covering or not. I can’t tell of course, but, from the Muslims I see, I do often think that many of these Muslim women and teenagers are proclaiming to us infidels that they aren’t going to assimilate with dirty infidels like us. There are Muslims who don’t wear the head gear as well, so I guess that they must be either married to, or are daughters of, fairly mellow types of Muslim men. It is annoying to read this nonsense in this report saying that “Hijab is freedom” at the same time as those courageous demonstrators in Iran are showing clearly that being forced to wear the head gear is oppression. But islam is all about tyranny and intimidation in all aspects of life. It is a disgusting religion. I mean that death for apostasy rule says it all.
somehistory says
It can be difficult, tim, except when they look at you as if you are vermin, shove you aside as if you don’t exist except to be mistreated and if it rains, they drown with their noses in the air.
and you are right. the scarf proclaims that they are all about taking over, not learning to live and let live. How anyone can embrace that mentality, is disturbing. that is why I think the devout among them are psychopaths.
tim gallagher says
I had a few extremely dirty looks from Muslims over the years, somehistory, but most of the time not. I do tend to ignore them altogether probably because I have no time at all for islam and also I don’t really believe that they should be allowed into any non-Muslim country. But I get what you mean about the nasty looks, as if we are vermin, you sometimes get from them
somehistory says
Well, tim, I’m glad that you don’t get the looks or shoving. One day I had gone to the doctor and as I was leaving the building, one was pushing her way inside, and if I had not gotten out of her way, she would have pushed me. And another worked at one of the local stores. I was waiting to get checked out, but there was a problem with a price tag, and while I waited, the mozlum pushed her way ahead of me to get the other clerk to do something for her, as if I didn’t exist.
Neither one said so much as an “excuse me,” as many ordinary people would.
I generally give way, but sometimes, it’s really difficult to do.
As a general rule, I believe they don’t try to get along, and really enjoy making the rest of us move over.
tim gallagher says
I did have a Muslim maniac come after me chasing me while I was driving and raving and ranting a few years back. He was an absolute loony, but mostly I don’t get anything beyond a dirty look from some. What you mentioned about pushing in reminded me of what occurred a while back when I went to a post office not far from where I live and which is run by Muslims. A couple of Muslim women did try to barge in ahead of people, including me, who were in a queue. A man standing in the queue told them very forcefully to go back to the end of the queue. He was excellent, didn’t even raise his voice but just very forcefully told them that that is not how we behave. I think that the Muslims must have thought that their fellow Muslims running the post office would let them go to the front of the queue. I was impressed. The man was a big guy and no one was going to mess with him. He did the right thing and put them in their place. I wasn’t going to do anything but I was impressed by what he did..

“I think we both have good bullshit detectors.”
Absolutely true.
I’m still working on mine…
tim gallagher says
No, James, I think that your bullshit detector is working perfectly. You seem to see things very clearly and in a very realistic manner. It made me think, now where did I first hear that term, bullshit detector. Probably one of the commentators here in Australia that I liked. Anyway, it impressed me as a good description of people who can see through the sort of nonsense that gets around these days.
James Lincoln says
Thanks, tim.
PRCS says
“because they want the Freedom to not wear the stinking hijab”
It’s a whack-a-mole situation.
Given that most of the world’s Muslims believe Qur’an mandates “the veil”, what other aspects of that “complete way of life” do they oppose? If given the opportunity–in Iran–how many would renounce Islam? Or in your country and mine?
Afghan ‘refugees’–fleeing Afghanistan’s Muslim paradise–didn’t cast theirs off upon arrival in western countries and most, I believe, never will.
tim gallagher says
Yeah, I’m sure either, PRCS. I do hope that there are huge numbers of Muslims, in Iran and elsewhere, who do want to ditch islam and all its backward, primitive crap completely and want to join the more modern and enlightened members of the human race. As you say, not many Muslims do seem to leave it behind when they reach western countries, but I guess that there is a lot of intimidation and fear they have to overcome to exit islam. Islam is full of thuggish bullies who would be pretty scary for would be apostates to go up against.
PRCS says
One of the greatest problems in all this: most–in the west–know next to nothing about Islam.
Although the Islamic Republic of Iran government’s enforcement of Islamic law (hijab in this case) is what Iranian women are protesting, politicians, pundits, so-called reporters–and therefore so many of our friends and fellow citizens–seem to have forgotten or never did understand, that the absolute reversal of women’s fortunes in Afghanistan resulted from the Taliban enforcing the very same Islamic law.
I’ve seen several news stories over the last few days claiming that Iranian women have been harassed, brutalized, and even murdered not for violating Islamic law, but for not complying with “Iranian dress codes”.
tim gallagher says
I agree, PRCS. There are so many people who, amazingly to me, know absolutely nothing about islam. I keep thinking that almost everyone should have woken up by now. Over 40,000 terrorist attacks since 9/11 and people still don’t seem to have woken up to this violent, evil ideology. As you say, the media and many politicians keep the average citizens in the dark. I used to write to some of our politicians and include those quotes from the Koran (which I first came across at JIhad Watch) that called for Muslims to go out and kill non-believers because I was sure that they didn’t know them. There is so much ignorance of islam’s barbaric nature. On the Iran protests, you are spot on about the way it is reported. Years ago, I remember telling one of my left wing sisters that Muhammad married an 8 year old girl when he was 50, (I don’t believe he ever actually existed) and she was amazed. People know nothing about islam.
PRCS says
Robert Spencer’s original book (concludes, inconclusively) that his existence may never be known.
I’m with you on that–could have been one or more good storytellers.
Truth be known, of course—much of Qur’an was plagiarized from other religious beliefs and embellished.
Disgusting to read/hear so many non-Muslims refer to him as “the prophet Muhammad”.
PRCS says
Ooops. His book “Did Muhammad Exist”.
tim gallagher says
I suspect that Muhammad didn’t exist and that islam is based on a complete lie, PRCS. Anyway, it is an evil religion with an evil concept of what god is like, a vicious, savage type of god, that is for sure.

And girls have been “Honor Killed” by their families for refusing to wear Hijab. How indicative of “freedom” is that? And European taxpayers are funding this vicious stupidity.
Suicidal insanity.
PRCS says
“fighting for the right not to wear hijab”
No, like their ‘sisters’ in Afghanistan, Aceh, Saudi Arabia, and other nations/areas ruled in accordance with Islamic law—they have no such right.
They’re stuck and the Islamic Republic of Iran’s government–which has the guns–isn’t going to relent.
Eleanor says
One could almost be forgiven for thinking they (the EU) are preparing for the great take-over.
Hank says
More like “willfully” tone-deaf, blind and in submission.
It wouldn’t surprise me if this nonsensical poster and cliché is originating from some Swedish left-wing feminists in the EU. It fits the pattern of their word games in order to deceive people.
