New in PJ Media:
The numbers are as shocking as they are undeniable: American high school students are more ignorant and ill-equipped than they have been in decades or more; in fact, it’s likely that their abilities are at their lowest level ever. The Washington Free Beacon reported Thursday that “average scores on the ACT [American College Testing] college admissions test dropped to their lowest in 30 years, revealing more evidence of the pandemic’s alarming impact on American education.” But it’s not just the pandemic. This is the result of the wokeification of the American public school system. Far too many teachers are spending their time filling their students’ heads with trans and Critical Race Theory nonsense instead of giving them an education. It’s dereliction of duty on a grand scale.
The Free Beacon added that “the average composite score for the class of 2022 was a 19.8 out of 36, according to a report released Wednesday, falling under 20 points for the first time since 1991. This year’s graduates endured the effects of the pandemic for three of their four high school years.”
The pandemic wasn’t even close to being the only thing they endured. In Georgia, PJM’s Chris Queen reported in August, “Gwinnett Schools are now adding gender propaganda to the mix with what one group calls ‘inappropriate gender lessons’ on school-issued Chromebooks that parents can’t access when logging into their children’s accounts on other devices.” In San Juan Hills High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., teacher Danielle “Flint” Serio has an entire “queer library” in her classroom. And down the road at Madison High School in San Diego, a teacher has defined “fascist” with words including “Trump,” “white,” “Christian,” and “heterosexual.” The Republican Party, this sage wrote on his classroom whiteboard, “is a fascist organization that no longer fits the category of a conventional Democratic Party.” In a rural, conservative school district in Minnesota, the ninth-grade curriculum includes a book that features explicit rape scenes.
The same kind of indoctrination is taking place in public schools all over the country. And so it is no coincidence at all that “of the ACT-tested graduates, 42 percent failed to meet any of the four ACT College Readiness Benchmarks (English, reading, math, science). Last year, 38 percent of students did not meet any of the benchmarks.” English, reading, math and science? Come on, man! That’s so 2005. Students today have to learn about far more important matters, such as how they can change sexes, and how they’re inherently racist (if they’re white) or perpetual victims (if they’re black). They have to learn about how the Founding Fathers were racist slave owners who deserve only to be execrated and despised.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Yes, you do indeed have a problem in the USA. But relax, you are not alone. Feel free to have a look at the UK’s Indoctrination – sorry. ‘Education’ – system that’s now celebrating ‘Black History Month’ by telling all their students that the British Isles has always had a ‘rainbow’ population from Roman times and before, with numerous citizens of darker hue playing vital roles creating what many believe to have been one of the greatest nations on the planet – despite shedloads of written, statistical, photographic and cinematic evidence showing the exact opposite. And, by the way, if you have a paler complexion, you’re automatically ‘privileged’ and ‘guilty’, but for some reason hey don’t seem to want people to see all the old Victorian photos of impoverished East End slum dwellers and Lancashire mill workers, and agricultural workers in Norfolk fields almost starving to death; and we never quite understand what paler people are supposed to have done to make them ‘guilty’ that ‘darker’ people have not also done, but probably even worse. Is your system in the USA equally insane?
Wellington says
Yes, Jayell1, equally insane here in America. To wit, Western Civilization bad, all other civilizations more or less good, never mind that “all other civilizations” engaged in just as many wrongdoings as the West did (often more) and served up no correcting measures as the West did to rectify these wrongs.

Yes, Jayell–the insanity is not confined to the US (or just to English speaking nations, either). And this about POCs having a big influence in Britain historically is just more revisionist history.

Any non white people in the British Isles in Roamn times would have been either soldiers or slaves, possibly a tiny minority might have stayed after the Romans left and blended into the native population; but to claim that it was ever a ‘rainbow nation’ is quite idiotic, In colonial times there were also quite a few slaves in UK (of the wealthy class of course) who also may have integated into the population after being freed, and there were also foreign seamen who got taken on as crew and then settled in UK, mainly in the port areas, but the above comment apllies to them also. The simple fact that the greater population of British are conspicuously very pale skinned makes nonsense of the rainbow claim. I thought the rainbow thing was about deviant sex anyway!

Yeah…. Here’s another correlation for you… This decline started in the 1960’s…. Guess what else started then??? School integration… Having taught both mathematics and Chemistry in an ‘inner city’ district, I can tell you ‘Diversity’ is an absolute nightmare and is at the root of the decline of this nation. Schools are no longer beacons of learning and growth. Instead, they’ve morphed into day care with the primary goal being the prevention of violence and limiting vandalism.
Liberals sicken me…….
Wellington says
BruceRobert: Having been a high school teacher in the late 1970’s before I moved on to college teaching, I second what you have stated.
So called “diversity” allowed for deficient students to no longer be labelled as such and this was the start of the dumbing down of American education. After all, a hierarchy, including in intellect, exists in nature just as athletic ability does. Even back in the late 1970’s, far more was spent on educating the slow learning rather than on the gifted, the latter being those I taught for two years at the high school level–and even then over forty years ago I saw that the gifted were not a priority at all; the opposite of the gifted were.
Such as this is no “recipe” for an optimally functioning society. Yes, be compassionate with those who are less fortunate but when you no longer advance the best then emotion, not reason, has taken over and this is never something that adds up to something good or productive—as we see in our era over and over and over again. Indeed, it is major cause of the dumbing down of American education, complicated all the more in our time by very young children being taught about sexual matters when they should be instructed almost exclusively in such subjects as reading and arithmetic. Parents, not schools, should be the educators of children in virtually all sexual subjects.
There is so much wrong with education in the West nowadays. Terribly wrong—and it is part and parcel of why Western society is disintegrating before our very eyes.

Sometimes, a website or two will feature a “test” to see how much one might know, and will give a come on of “if you can answer …number of these questions, you are a genius. ”
The really ignorant ones, have questions about hip-hop and other *modern* stuff; but nothing that is of any real importance in getting along in life. They are more like some category of Jeopardy that only those engaged in such nonsense as they are being taught in public school would know.
I personally have noticed when reading news articles from some of the largest, and once-respected, companies, word-usage errors, one after another. missing connecting words, and sentences poorly written. And some of the people doing this, have multiple “degrees,” or say they have written for more than one publication. Recently, one had written “tussled hair”..as a description of a person being profiled; and the author was said to have written books.
Not surprised at the low grades kids are getting; esp considering that some students are allowed to get professors fired for making tough assignments.

I agree. I have noticed that also.
Disclaimer: I’m notorious for typos’s, missing words, etc. My defense, albeit a poor one… I’m not a professional, I don’t make a living doing this.
It seems that we have allowed ourselves to become a slave to technology vs the other way around.

I make many typos too. My eyesight is not the best, I suffer from tremors, and like you, milo, I’m not making any money writing here. I have made money writing in the past, and if I made some now, I would go slower and proofread much more carefully before submitting.

All too common, Somehistory. And one expects more casual writing commenting on blogs–but newspapers and magazine used to actually have proofreaders and hands-on editors, as well as educated reporters and op ed writers.

High School Test Scores Are Plummeting, and It’s Not Just Because of the Pandemic
………………………………………….
No, it’s not just the pandemic. Schools have been deliberately dumbing down for years now, often refusing to teach basic academics like reading and mathematics–this isn’t just about potentially controversial subjects, either.
My alma mater, UC Berkeley, just dropped the SAT *and* the ACT, the test used here to indicate how bad the education levels of these high school students are. Ad they are not the only ones.
That just leaves school grades, that are not only far more subjective, but also fare more apt to fall along lines of ‘political correctness’ than actual academic achievement. Many don’t want *any* objective standards at all.
Chilling stuff.

I recently asked a young white American SJW ”female” who was spewing words out as if they made any sense and so I asked her if she could tell me which Race and which Gender of humanity built the modern world she lives in today, she asked me if I was a Trump supporter and suggested I was a racist, but didnt answer my question but she said Trump was a criminal, a racist, a sexist and should be in Prison before he throws all the Gay people out of America or puts them all in prison…
I really laughed as I thought she must be joking…. she wasnt….So I asked her which crimes has Trump committed, this was in 2018, and if she thinks Trump is a sexist then what did she call Bill Clinton and what did she call Mrs Clinton who publicly denigrated all the women her husband had sex with and did she know that Trump actually accepted Gay Marriage and even had such a couple for Dinner at the White House… Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson handed Trump an Award in thanks for all he did for the black American Community, Snoop Doggie Crap has been photographed with his arm around Trumps shoulder calling him… Ma Main Man…Inside Trump Tower in NYC.
She stood up and walked away rolling her eyes at my lack of knowledge on such subjects…
THIS is the youth of America today, no knowledge of what they speak of and no possibility of discussing their point of view because they are unable to do so.
