New in PJ Media:
For the first time in 1,400 years, England and Wales are no longer majority Christian. The UK’s Telegraph reported Tuesday that “Christians now account for less than half of England and Wales’ population for the first time in census history, government figures reveal.” This is an indication of what happens when the Left attains cultural dominance in a society and is likely a harbinger of things to come for the U.S. as well unless there is some massive cultural shift in the next few years. And there could be.
Right now, however, the trends are unmistakable. “The Office for National Statistics (ONS),” says the Telegraph, “results show that 46.2 per cent of the population (27.5 million people) described themselves as ‘Christian’ in 2021. This marks a 13.1 percentage point decrease from 59.3 per cent (33.3 million people) in 2011.” The trend is the same in the United States, although the numbers are higher: in 2019, according to the Pew Research Center, 65% of Americans identified themselves as Christian, down 10% from 2009. The number of those who said they were “nothing in particular” grew by 4%, to 16% of the total population.
In England and Wales, this was not just a matter of religiosity declining across the board: “The census data also shows that every major religion increased over the ten-year period, except for Christianity.” The Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, tried to put a good face on this fiasco, saying that the new figures were “not a great surprise,” but insisted that Christianity still remained “the largest movement on Earth.”
That’s great, but what happened in England and Wales? What is happening in the United States? The decline is the result of a number of factors. Journalist Daniel Greenfield observed that “What you’re seeing is the result of cultural programming that has all but eliminated Judeo-Christian religiosity as a source of values and identity among the young and replaced it with pop culture and politics.”
That’s certainly true. The elimination of Judeo-Christian religiosity, however, has not been solely a matter of cultural programming by exterior forces. The very people who were supposed to be the guardians of Judeo-Christian religiosity are in all too many cases the very ones responsible for the decline of its influence. This is a result of the fact that the Left’s Long March Through the Institutions didn’t just take over and destroy our colleges and universities, as well as the entertainment industry and the establishment media; the churches and other religious institutions were targeted as well.
This targeting was extraordinarily successful, to the extent that in the U.S., virtually all of the old mainline Protestant denominations have become what has been summed up in one indelible quip: “the Democrat Party at prayer.”

Decline in religiosity is simply that as science advances, religion can’t promote it’s irrational ideas any more; better educated people see right through it’s nonsense.

In addition, religious organisations are being exposed like never before as protecting clergy who use their positions to abuse those they supposedly protect.
“Religion poisons everything” The great Christopher Hitchens.
Wellington says
While Christopher Hitchens made some interesting points at times, he wasn’t always right. For instance, he asserted that Thomas Jefferson was an atheist. This is 100% false. Jefferson believed in God and thought that the teleological argument for God’s existence was a very sound one. In his private letters to such people as Benjamin Rush, Joseph Priestly and John Adams, Jefferson revealed his beliefs about existence and they included his conviction that God existed.
Moreover, the statement that “religion poisons everything” is patently absurd. I don’t see the work of Michelangelo as evidence of religion poisoning everything. Nor other great art like Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Religion for huge numbers of people touches something deep inside them that neither science nor philosophy can.
As for your claim that better educated people see right through the nonsense of religion, how do you explain people like Pope Benedict XVI and Alexander Solzhenitsyn, about as well educated as a person can get? The talk show host I most admire is Dennis Prager and he is a devout Orthodox Jew who has not only a great deal of knowledge but also heaps of wisdom. Be careful you don’t make a religion out of not having one because it would be both ironic and wrong.

Don’t fool yourself.
The majority are not “better educated.”
They simply believe in even more irrational things like ufos, ghosts, mermaids and a flat earth.
Finally, I bet you wouldn’t have the cojones to spout that same vitriol against muhammaden clerics who abuse children with impunity.
Show us on the doll were the rogue priest touched you.

The sad and tragic reality is that The United Kingdom is falling more and more into the realm of spiritual darkness. Especially with the advancement of Islam into the UK.
Even King Charles has an attraction and admiration towards Islam is very revealing about his religious education he received in the Church of England, which in the United Kingdom is also called “The Anglican Church.”
The King with is favorable spirit to Islam reveals that the Anglican church didn’t teach and ingrain the Bible doctrines about the Nature of Jesus into his mind and heart when he was still a prince.
Likewise, back then he was a prince his “higher education “didn’t cover the many different aspects of how the religion of Islam rejects the many clear Bible teaching about the nature of Jesus.
For Islam denies the Bible doctrines about of and about the actual natural of Jesus which is blasphemous.
For Islam denies that Jesus is the Son of God. Meaning that Jesus of the only Son of God the Father. That is in blatant contradiction to the information revealed in the Bible. As found, for example, Matthew 3:16, 17, First John 2:22, 23. Likewise, Jesus is God the Son, as seen in Hebrews 1:8. First John 5:20.
The Deity of the Son taught in the Bible. For in Colossians 2:9 It reads “For In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. ” [N.I.V.]
That Jesus is God is further revealed in the Bible in John 1-1-3. Colossians 1:15-17. Romans 9:5 Second Peter 1:1. Titus 2:13 First John 5:20.
Furthermore, the Bible in First Kings 8:89 teaches that “Only God Knows that thoughts of men” in the Gospel of Mark 2:8 reveals that Jesus knows the thoughts of men.”
In conclusion the Bible does reveal to that Jesus is God and that exposes Islam’s false teaching about Jesus and therefore Islam is a false religion of demonic darkness.
As Isaiah 8:20 reads” To the law and to the Testimony ! If they do not speak according to the word, it is because there is no light in them.”

The “global elite,” will be pleased to see statistics like these as it’s further proof that their plan to destroy the Western World, and specifically, Christianity and the Bible, is working better than they anticipated.
The “global elite” have infiltrated the Church and, more importantly, the seminaries. They have watered down the Gospel and produced “Pastors” who are nothing more than “social workers.”
These 10 Guidelines or principles were on the former Georgia Guidestone:
• Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
• Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity.
• Unite humanity with a living new language.
• Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
• Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
• Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
• Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
• Balance personal rights with social duties.
• Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
• Be not a cancer on the Earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.
And these are COP27’s Ten Commandments
• We are stewards of this world
• Creation manifests divinity
• Everything in life is interconnected
• Do no harm
• Look after tomorrow
• Rise above ego for our world
• Change our inner climate
• Repent and return
• Every action matters
• Use mind, open heart

The quote by C.S. Lewis, milo, reminded me of what Teddy Roosevelt said and that is to educate a person in the mind but not in morals is to create a menace to society.

Not just a menace but a danger to society. Teddy Roosevelt was spot on regarding todays immoral left-wing elite who trash Judeo-Christian values and faith, then go on to import Islam by the tens of millions and destabilize their own nation by creating a 5th column in their midst.

When this is what the leading clergy of England’s official religion is saying, how does one expect Christianity to remain the majority faith even of Englishmen, let alone people who immigrate to the UK? Hence the story you have above. RS is right: the infiltration into major Christian institutions by the Left has made them very unattractive to believers who don’t share any of the Left’s ethics. In such an environment, it only makes sense either to switch to Agnosticism/Atheism, or shop around for other faiths. Just hope that the other faiths adapted are good ones like Buddhism or Hinduism, and not evil ones like islam

Amen. All this arguing about whether Christianity is relevant or not in the 21st was prophesied over two thousand years ago. We are seeing the answer to Jesus’ question, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)

As the former late leader of the PLO, Yasser Arafat said, “Most wars are fought by people believing they have an imaginary friend.” That “friend” being a God or, Gods.
so, with all the cr*p being dished out by Muslims, all over the World, for decades now, why hasn’t the Christian God, JC, the angels, Saint etc not stepped in & stopped it all?
In the Old Testament, God was a vengeful, spiteful god. Then in the New Testament, he was this Hippy type through his “Son”, Jesus Christ.
What should happen is the West wakes up & severely deals with all this cr*p!!

Alex, I’ve seen that quote attributed to Napoleon–unlikely–but far more plausible than that Yasser Arafat would say it. Arafat regularly waged Jihad war, and would have been in trouble with the “Palestinian” Muslims if he had denied Allah.
The quote is most likely from American author Larry Beinhart.
By the way, under Christianity humans have free will–to do good or ill.
Hank says
If the Living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just stops it all and applies His eternal moral (and physical) standards we would all find ourselves in Hell because none of us are capable of living according to those standards. So, the next best thing is Gods calendar combined with your freewill to choose and join the rogue Cherubim Angel Lucifer or Jesus.

absolutely right. I believe it was the Apostle Peter who wrote that “God is patient with you…because He desires that all attain to repentance.”
But His patience is not without a limit.
My recall was accurate:
“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9”

I say that there’s such a thing as a cultural Christian. When people remind me that I’m an atheist (when, for instance, I fly the Jerusalem Cross on September 11 or listen to Mozart’s Requiem or sneak into Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve) I reply, yes but I’m a Catholic atheist. The rituals and trappings of Catholicism are a part of me and I won’t let go of them. Likewise I’m comfortable with the moral code. I deplore the loss of the Latin mass. I ignore and disregard anyone who would deprive me of the comfort of Christian culture and say I somehow don’t deserve it because I’m not a theist. They can go to their church and I’ll sit in the back row of mine.
