“Narrated `Aisha and `Abdullah bin `Abbas: When the disease of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) got aggravated, he covered his face with a Khamisa, but when he became short of breath, he would remove it from his face and say, ‘It is like that! May Allah curse the Jews Christians because they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship.’ By that he warned his follower of imitating them, by doing that which they did.” (Bukhari 7.77.5815, 5816)
“‘Muslims imitating Christians will be punished on judgment day’: Deoband Maulana Abdul Qasmi calls birthday celebrations ‘Haram,’” OpIndia, November 25, 2022:
In a new video released by Darul Uloom Deoband, the birthday celebration has been described as a festival of Christians. Muslims are appealed not to celebrate birthdays, Maulana Asad Qasmi said in the video. Qasmi has also asked Muslims to refrain from adopting the ways of Christians while following the path shown by the Quran and Hadith.
Maulana Asad Qasmi is the Mohtamim of Jamia Shaikh ul Hind. His video is going viral on social media. In the viral video, he referred to the Prophet Muhammad of Muslims and said that there is no mention of celebrating birthdays anywhere in his life. He said that Muhammad’s companions also never celebrated birthdays. Stating that it is beyond his understanding why Muslims celebrate birthdays, Maulana Qasmi said that birthdays are celebrated by Christians, and Muslims are just imitating them.
Describing the birthday as a conspiracy to create a new thing inside the Shariat, maulana described it as something outside Islamic rules. Maulana Qasmi appealed to Muslims to stop the practices of non-Muslims.
Quoting a hadith, he said anyone who follows someone else’s ways will be punished on the day of judgment. Maulana appealed to Muslims to follow the path shown by Allah’s Messenger and stand under his flag on the day of judgment. He said that the habit of Muslims adopting things outside the Quran and Hadith is a ‘Khurafat’ (meaning mischief).
According to media reports, Maulana Asad Qasmi also said that playing DJ in nikah is wrong. He said, “Horse riding and fireworks are not in the wedding custom stated in Islam. Nikah by Muslims should also be done through Islamic ways.”…

No surprise. There is no fun in Islam. This is what you can expect from a death cult.

True, you need only to look at what is banned to see what a miserable ‘faith’ it is. No music, no dancing, no alcohol and especially no sex! Lots of praying to the cloud fairy though. I understandwhen Mohamm made his mythical visit to ‘god’, the latter wanted more praying but Mohamm got ‘him’ to reduce the frequency. Nice one Mohamm!
I am sure the celebration of birthdays probably goes as far back as the invention of time measurement, in other words it predates both religions. Just more foolishness from a Muslim cleric, same old same old.
I believe in many asian cultures the celebration is made on the second birthday, as so many died in infancy it was an achievement to make it though the first year.

Yes, being born a Muslim is nothing to celebrate.

Very clever comment, CogitoErgoSum, and spot on. Why celebrate such an unfortunate curse as being born into such a barbaric, backward cult.
Michael Copeland says
Let him tell that to all those noisy processors commemorating Mohammed’s birthday.

”Men” like this have to be THE most uptight morons around and anybody that follows him is an even bigger moron.
These idiots have so little joy in their miserable lives that the only thing that seems to please them is killing non muslims or raping them or making even more Laws to keep them all in their place and not to think for themselves.
Devasur says
Yet Indian Christians support them. The irony.

That alliance has been fraying, particularly in Kerala. But yeah, problem is missionaries don’t target muslims. Given the inculturation techniques they use in other places, they could teach muslims about Isa, distorting him to the real Jesus, and then converting entire muslim areas like they do for Hindus

“Maulana Asad Qasmi also said that playing DJ in nikah is wrong.”
“Nikah” means marriage or wedding, but what is “DJ”?
https://www.deccanherald.com/national/north-and-central/cleric-refuses-to-solemnise-nikah-till-dj-is-stopped-1049979.html
refers to “DJ music”, but what kind of music is that? What do the letters DJ stand for? Can any DJ music be found on You Tube?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Actually, no. ‘Nikah’ means ‘sexual penetration’, which is why it’s bizarre to hear about muslim weddings being described w/ that term
As for DJ, it stands for the same thing as here, but in this context, it means the Bollywood tunes that are often played at parties there. Just go to YouTube and search for Bollywood music, and play some of those songs. They are awful (IMO) but I’m pretty confident that my reason for hating them is different from the maulana’s
