Sharia trumps manmade constitutions.
“Woman goes on hunger strike after being jailed for insulting Islam,” Agence France-Presse, November 3, 2022:
A Moroccan woman sentenced to two years’ jail for “insulting Islam” in a Facebook post is almost a fortnight into a hunger strike, her family said Tuesday.
Fatima Karim “started a hunger strike 13 days ago to protest against her heavy sentence”, a family member told AFP, requesting anonymity due to security concerns….
Karim, 39, had been detained in July and later found guilty of “attacking the Islamic religion via electronic means”, after she posted satirical comments about the Koran on Facebook.
At her trial in the town of Oued Zem, she had said her comments were within the bounds of freedom of expression, which is guaranteed by the Moroccan constitution.
But the lower court rejected that and her appeal was dismissed in mid-September.
Karim has issued a public apology to “whoever felt offended” by her comments, saying she had not meant to insult Islam, which is the state religion.
Rights groups say Morocco’s penal code, which allows for prison terms of up to five years for publicly “insulting” Islam, is not clear on what constitutes an insult….

The real news in this story is Morocco having the freedom of expression, or at least, there being a woman stupid enough to believe that. Aside from that, everything went as might be expected

Imagine some idiots who believe in unicorns and fairies throw you in jail for simply questioning their nonsensical beliefs. So instead of admitting they could be wrong or they don’t know, they attack, censor, jail those who question them.
Religions have kept humanity back for centuries, we could’ve been a space-faring species already, if not for the “faithful” jailing, torturing, killing people who question their ideas and their authority to rule over others.
Fortunately in the West we have separation of church/state and the freedom of speech, or we’d look like Islamic hellholes now. Secularism is the answer for the whole world, but ideally humans should leave all religions. That doesn’t mean all our problems are over, but at least the ones caused by religion will be.
If there was no Islam for example, countless millions would still be alive…imagine if there were other Einsteins around who could’ve helped humanity advance further.

Fitna,
I get the fact that you do not like the concept of any kind of “religion”. And that certainly is your right.
But please, in the present day, acknowledge tthe fact that the only major religion causing significant problems for others is islam.
Some Christians, for instance, may be “pesky preachy” but their religion does not condone violence toward others (Golden rule).

Hi James,
So I make a distinction between the believers and their beliefs, as there is always a spectrum of belief like a bell-curve with most in the middle.
That’s why you can always find good, truly moderate people in any religion, but most fall in the mainstream viewpoint. However Islam being the most extreme of the ‘Abrahamic’ religions, so too will most of their followers be more extreme, in their behavior and morals, compared to the rest of us.
However my problem with all religions is that aside from their false assumptions and the brainwashing of billions of people, is the possibility that they can always revert to something more evil, fascist and sinister, depends on how people choose to interpret their teachings.
Hitler was a Christian with close ties to the Catholic church and felt he was serving God’s will by wiping out 10 million people, 6 million Jews. In the Medieval times the Church was the dominant power in Europe and they used religion to justify the rape and Colonization of other nations, and taking people as slaves. Note that Jesus condoned slavery, none of the 10 Commandments forbid slavery, strange isn’t it?
Ofc they killed millions of people in the process. Additionally they waged a war on Science and Reason, jailing/torturing/killing people (like Scientists, philosophers, etc) they labelled as “heretics” or “witches” in the same way the Muslim world does today to people.
This is all very easy to look up in the history books. Even if some religions are completely benign like Jainism and perhaps Hinduism, they still place blinders on human thought and they force people to become pacifist when they should be aggressively defending themselves from invaders/attackers.
While Christianity doesn’t directly call for violence, there are texts that incite hatred against LGBT and unbelievers for example. Which is why we hear of incidents of gays being lynched, beaten up or have been discriminated against by Christian groups.
So just because Christians are not going around cutting people’s heads off, doesn’t mean that your religion is without its faults or its own major problems.
The reason my posts are sometimes intentionally ‘provocative’ let’s say, is to try to get believers to self-reflect on their own belief system, the way they do other religions.
I figured out religions were BS by the age of 13, I wish others gave it some more thought and freed themselves of religion indoctrination.
The danger here is that Christians for example could decide at any moment that the problem is a lack of religion in America. Given that there are many Christians in power, they could revert to a more totalitarian fascist theocracy and we can easily find ourselves in the same kind of situation that Germany was in with the Nazis.
Especially now given the existential war the West is in with Islam today. I’m fine if Christians want to unite against this death cult, so long as we don’t see one evil religious regime (Islam) replaced by another (Christianity).
