It has not even been a month since the story of the gruesome murder of 26-year-old Shraddha Walkar rocked India’s collective psyche, and the country is already reporting more possible instances of violence inspired by the heinous crime of Aftab Ameen Poonawala.
On November 29, a woman in Maharastra’s Dhule region approached the police, reporting that her Muslim live-in partner, Arshad Salim Malik, was threatening to chop her off in 70 pieces if she didn’t do as he pleased. The couple has been living together since July 2021.
The woman disclosed that she is a widow who had lost her husband in a road accident in 2019. She also has a five-year-old daughter with her deceased husband. She met Arshad when she was surrounded by hardships, and, as she informed the police, he introduced himself as Harshal Mali. To present oneself as a Hindu to vulnerable Hindu women is one of the time-honored formulas adopted by love-jihadis in this part of the world, and as evident from the victim’s claims, Arshad followed the formula to a T.
She also claimed that Arshad had once taken her into the woods in Dhule’s Laling village. There he raped her, made a video of the act, and threatened to make the video public.
Despite this, or perhaps because of it, over time he convinced the woman to move in with him. In July 2021, the “couple” went to Amalner to work on the affidavit for their live-in relationship. That was when the woman learned that Harshal’s real name was Arshad Salim Malik, and that he was a Muslim.
The woman also informed the police that Malik had forcibly converted her to his religion. But Arshad didn’t stop at just converting the woman; as per her statement, he had also attempted to convert her daughter. Detailing the tortures inflicted upon her, the woman spoke of an instance in which the accused burned her skin with a silencer when she opposed one of his ideas.
The woman eventually got pregnant with Arshad’s child and delivered a baby on August 26. Apparently, he continued to abuse her throughout her pregnancy and afterward. She further states that Malik’s father had also assaulted her. In another instance, when she tried to go against one of his commands, Malik threatened to kill her, saying, “Shraddha was cut into 35 pieces, but I will cut you into 70 pieces.”
This is not the only instance of crime against a Hindu over interfaith relationships reported from Maharashtra in recent times. On November 21 in Nanded, Maharashtra, a Hindu youth from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community named Swapnil Nageshwar was attacked with sticks and iron rods by a murderous Muslim mob. The victim received severe injuries, which eventually led to his death. The Nanded police station has filed a First Information Report (FIR) under IPC Section 302 and charged ten individuals in this case. The police stated that on Monday, November 21, the Muslim mob spotted the two (the Muslim girl and the Hindu boy) while they were stepping out of a hotel. The crowd surrounded them, questioned the victim about what he was doing with the woman, and forced the couple into their vehicle. They took them a few kilometers away, where they started assaulting them; Swapnil was fatally injured in the scuffle and subsequently lost his life. The accused were sent on ten days of remand on Wednesday, November 24, while investigations were underway.
It’s unfortunate, but the incident that should have acted as a wake-up call for the Hindus against getting into romantic relationships with Muslims has emboldened some Muslims in India. Numerous such Muslims are roaming free in the streets of every Indian city, intending to commit a crime against hapless and naïve Hindu women in true Aftab fashion.
Within days of this crime coming to light, Muslims from India and Pakistan formed Facebook groups praising Aftab Ameen Poonawala as their hero. One such Facebook group was “Aftab Poonawalla Fridge Posting,” in which Muslims openly mocked Shraddha’s gory murder and posted disturbing memes about it. The defenders of Aftab are not just Muslim men. There were many Muslim women cheering for Aftab’s appalling act. Interestingly, despite numerous reports, these disconcerting posts enjoyed their space on the social media platform, and the agents guarding the platform’s community standards found nothing offensive about these posts.

I was listening to a podcast which had a conversation b/w the editors of OpIndia and Swarajya about ‘Love Jihad’, where Nupur J Sharma (different from the former BJP spokeswoman who’s now gone underground), the editor of the former, tells Swati Goel Sharma, editor of the latter, that there are 6 types of relationship that are caught up in this term, which she disagrees w/ (note that Swati switches to Hindi a lot during this conversation, which has no English subtitles, so listen at your own risk)
➊ Muslim man pretends to be a Hindu man, befriends and traps the Hindu girl. Later, his real identity is revealed, either accidentally or by himself voluntarily. He then tries to force the Hindu girl to convert to islam and remain in the relationship, failing which, he rapes/murders, or at least attempts to rape/murder her
➋ Hindu woman knowingly marries a muslim man, thinking that he’ll be fine w/ her remaining Hindu. However, after the marriage, the pressure to convert begins, which includes torture
➌ Plain rape of a Hindu woman by a muslim man just to make her taboo to anyone else, and be able to gloat about an islamic victory over Hindus
➍ One sided obsession of muslim men w/ Hindu women, that includes stalking, rape and blackmail. Unlike in ➊ where the girl doesn’t know that the guy is muslim until it is too late, in this case she knows that they guy is muslim, rejects his advances and is targeted by him and his family
➎ Hindu women/underaged girls are abducted and forcibly married to muslim men, often raped in the process. An extension of this – videotaping the event, and threatening to make it public unless the woman agrees to convert, marry or just accept being their prostitute
➏ Underaged girls are brianwashed, and then elope, convert to islam and marry much older muslim men. The argument is then made that it is consensual, ignoring the fact that underaged kids can’t consent to such major life decisions, just like here in the West, they can’t consent to life altering surgeries that would flip their sexes. This is further complicated by the fact that in India, the legitimate marriage age of muslim girls is 15. However, it’s one thing for a 15 year old muslim girl born to muslim parents to ‘agree’ to what their parents decide for them (of course, it should be illegal!) vs a 15 year old Hindu girl who’s been tricked into converting to make such a decision herself
Of the above relationships, only ➋ and ➏ would accurately be described as a ‘love’ jihad, and that too is misleading given that the love is only one-sided
The 2 of them also discuss that even when it’s a Hindu male and a muslim female, the Hindu males are still targeted. Sometimes, it’s pressure for him to convert, and sometimes, it’s pressure to just back out of the relationship. Like the Swapnil case in the article, it ends badly for Hindus regardless of whether they’re the male or the female in the relationship
On the last point mentioned, don’t expect the likes of Facebook to do anything about them

Religion of peace is very cunning. Lots of detailed instruction in Islamic texts to fool the victims.
War is deceit.
