The prohibition on women going out without a male guardian is not the Taliban’s invention. It’s basic, mainstream Sharia: “The husband may forbid his wife to leave the home…because of the hadith related by Bayhaqi that the Prophet…said, ‘It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to allow someone into her husband’s house if he is opposed, or to go out of it if he is averse” (Reliance of the Traveller m10.4).

A woman in Afghanistan was seen being brutally flogged in public for allegedly flouting the Taliban’s conservative rule that prohibits women from going to shops without a male guardian.
In an almost two-minute video clip, posted on Twitter by a user named Shabnam Nasimi, reportedly from the Takhar province, the woman can be seen being whipped.
“The women of Afghanistan are experiencing hell on earth under Taliban regime. We mustn’t turn a blind eye,” Shabnam Nasimi wrote along with the video.
Last week, three women and 11 men were flogged following the orders of an Afghan court after they were found guilty of theft and “moral crimes”, it was reported.
Those being punished received between 21 and 39 lashes each, after being convicted in a local court of theft and adultery, reports said adding that hundreds of people attended the lashings and a ban was imposed on taking photos and video.
The resumption of the practice underscored the Taliban’s intention of sticking to their strict interpretation of Islamic law, or Sharia. Supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada also ordered judges last month to fully enforce aspects of Islamic law that include public executions and floggings….

These Sharia enforcers are scared to death at the very thought of giving some freedom to women in shopping malls/shops. What kind of families do the men run in Islamic homes? In islam, fearing disobedience by a man is a crime against women. The control over women is absolute. Their familial life must be hell on earth and yet they want sharia etc.

Pretty handy, that Hadith – the Prophet said this and the Prophet said that.(and likely, didn’t). Some “scholars” got together and decided which of all the various non-Quran writings should have precedence while Allah had no input. This kind of stuff is tradition, not the word of Allah.
The 7th & 8th century “scholars” must have been misogynists on steroids.

2022 and there are still knuckle dragging Muslims who live like this. What a blight on the human race islam is. And yet we still have so many people who keep telling us that islam is quite OK and that Muslims will fit in wonderfully in western societies.

I am of course sympathetic and helpful to the Afghan, Iraqi, Guinean, and other Musim teens in my High School’s ESOL program. However, I don’t feel particularly chivalrous towards the Persophone women in the homelands who are running afoul of Sharia. I’m old enough to remember the “angry nuns” (chador-clad Iranian vixens) screaming “Marg-bar-Amrika” back in 1979. Also, I’m sure it was devout Muslim mothers in Afghanistan and Wziristan who raised their boys to be good for nothing save Taliban and Qaida cannon-fodder. The USA was right to pull out of Afghanistan, and let the Iranian protests develop on their own.
This being said, I still think that Trump was head-and-shoulders above either Obama or Biden as a president, even if he is a flawed human being.
