New in PJ Media:
All the way back in that simple, innocent world we lived in on Feb. 19, I wrote: “They started with Roald Dahl, perhaps because no one will be too concerned about the works of an author of children’s books. But make no mistake: the bowdlerizers are by no means finished.” It took less than a week for this prediction to be proven true: it has been revealed that Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, which holds the rights to the novels that gave rise to the never-ending James Bond movie series, has given the master spy a woke makeover in new editions that are set to be published this April. Once again, make no mistake: Woke Bond won’t be the end of this madness, either. The censors are just getting started.
The UK’s Telegraph reported Saturday that the bowdlerizers have shredded, pureed, and reformulated the James Bond novels in order to shield the dwindling number of millennial snowflakes who actually read books from “racial references” that don’t suit contemporary Maoist sensibilities.
It’s certainly understandable that some of the Left-fascists who control the culture and almost everything else these days would think this had to be done. Ian Fleming, the creator of the James Bond character and author of the novels, was an Englishman who died in 1964. He couldn’t possibly have foreseen how sensitive we have become, or how fragile, how vulnerable to “microaggressions,” how mired in “systemic racism” we are. He was part of a generation that lived through two world wars and was made of sterner stuff. A few quips, a few jibes, a few chuckles – so what? Sticks and stones and all that, old man! But those days are gone. Long gone.
It seems that Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, seeing the writing on the wall in terms of how restricted the freedom of expression has become these days, actually brought this on themselves by commissioning a coterie of what are known as “sensitivity readers” to give the Bond books a once-over and deep-six the offensive archaisms. “Sensitivity readers” are actually genuine human beings who make a living by weeping over imaginary slights done to imaginary people by the words of works of fiction, and who oversee the revisions of those works to remove the slights so as to suit the ever-changing sensibilities of today’s supremely intolerant Left.
The new, toothless, Leftist Bond books will carry a small disclaimer that packs a large wallop: “This book was written at a time when terms and attitudes which might be considered offensive by modern readers were commonplace. A number of updates have been made in this edition, while keeping as close as possible to the original text and the period in which it is set.”
There is much more. Read the rest here.

I read this and realized that soon, no book ever written will be free from this except for one. (we all know which book of evil filth that is)
Back some years ago, when people began dropping morality, movies and books were produced chock full of indecency; but those fighting to keep things *clean* were ridiculed and mostly ignored. when it came to making changes.
I personally am against cursing, foul language and the constant use of one expletive that is a four letter acronym, but these are in every movie made in this century except those made by people who make attempts to follow Christ.
And except for non-fiction, books are the same…immorality and foul language keep the sotry line sorry.
Reality is; but those who are taking liberties with the works of others who cannot object, don’t really care about what is right or just or fair.
One is not forced to read the works of writers long dead…it is a choice.
If the books were required for school work, a discussion could be had as to whether or not the language was accurate and applicable to the story.
Those who have an evil agenda, are on a roll and Truth doesn’t matter; in any setting.
Thankfully, my personal Bible won’t be *edited* to take out what some may not like to read.

My guess is that the ughurs in china would complain if they had the power behind them.
James Lincoln says
somehistory,
Just curious, which Bible version / translation is your favorite?

James,
When I was a teenager, my mom often studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses. One day, a young man and his sister came to talk to her, and he gave me a Bible. I had been reading the King James, as we had several around at that time.
The one he gave me, the New World Translation is in modern English and I could read both and get some sense of things.
Since I have eye trouble and most Bibles are so tiny in print, I usually go to Bible Hub, BibleGateway, or another online site where I can compare many versions. The NIT, KJ, and others.
I have the updated version of the KJ in Spanish, and I have Bibles in both German and French.
I have heard many people say that the NWT is not like the others, but it is very similar to other modern translations, based on a translation by Westcot and Hort.
I have also spoken to some who think that the KJ is the **original** Bible and use no other.
James, thanks for asking. Which is your favorite, if you have one?
Random Joe says
The Jehovah Witness version was written by a guy who had no credentials in ancient languages. Compare John 1:1. the King James Version says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. This clearly says the Word (Jesus) was/is God.
The Jehovah Witness version says …the Word was a god”. Clearly JW is saying that Jesus is not God.
These are not interchangeable.

You are free to believe what you wish. I was asked a question and I responded.
James Lincoln says
somehistory,
My go-to Bible is the original King James.
There’s lots of other really great Bibles out there and I often times cross reference passages from my King James with other versions / translations on Bible Hub.

But there’s something extra special about the KJV, it’s so wonderfully written and poetic.

Well, books need READERS!
If they elect to tamper with the films … well, those need VIEWERS!
And ‘sensitivity readers/viewers’ reading/viewing MONIES, AREN’T going to make up for the majority, who might just elect to look elsewhere!
Just so long as my book/film COSTS aren’t impacted … I really don’t give a toss!
ME Infidel says
Many in my generation grew up wanting to be James Bond. I thought his job was far more interesting and thrilling than becoming a sports hero especially the perks that included martinis and, dare I say it, an abundance of beautiful women.
Leave it to the Left to try to ruin everything they touch. It must be a pathetic life they lead never having any joy or fun fantasizing. If they want Lashana Lynch as Bond, so be it. Go woke; go broke. There isn’t a chance in Hell they’ll persuade me to change my ways. Now, where did I put my Walther ppg?

ME Infidel,
There is no fun in Leftism.

“modern readers” ?
There’s nothing modern about being fragile.

‘The Name Is Bond. James Bond. My Pronouns Are…’ 007 Novels Get Woke Makeover
……………………………..
I’m *so* tired of this. If someone wants to write a new story–or produce a film–with this character, fine. But piggybacking on a beloved and enduring character is pretty disgusting. This is not uncommon at this point, though.

I can’t wait to read the new WOKE QU’RAN when it comes out. I wonder what pronoun will be attached to Mohammad?
