Any guesses on what the angle might have been when these now suspended journalists covered any topic related to Israel? Laila Odeh celebrated murderers as “martyrs.” Lebanese journalist Joelle Maroun tweeted: “If Only Hitler Was Lebanese.’” Dina Abi-Saab celebrated Hamas rocket fire upon Israel, and Sharif Bibi declared “We will eradicate you, Israel.”
CAMERA said of Maroun:
Had her employers bothered to review her extensive social media record before hiring, they would have found numerous tweets expressing strong admiration for Adolf Hitler, support for the murder of innocent Jewish civilians and other displays of vile speech.
Another one of her posts called outright for the murder of Jews:
CAMERA described Laila Odehas as exhibiting “utter incapability to function as a well-informed and balanced observer on the conflict.” She once wrote on Facebook: “Because I am a Palestinian refugee, I demand of the Arab League to arm me so that I retrieve my land which Israel has unlawfully occupied. And because I am a sister of a martyr, I demand of the Arab League to arm me so that I retrieve the body of my martyr brother […].”
But France 24’s bosses wasn’t paying attention. In their view, why should they have looked askance at any of this? Islamic supremacist lobbies have convinced Western countries that there is no threat from Islam, so anyone who monitors Muslim hatred against Jews, which is pervasive in the Palestinian territories and supported by Islamic texts, is deemed to be “Islamophobic.” Had any journalists anywhere in the West expressed the same kind of murderous hatred and incitement against Muslims as these Muslim journalists exhibited toward Jews, the outcry would have been deafening and an “Islamophobia czar” would have been set up in every country. The offenders also would likely face criminal prosecution and be stripped of all respectability. But these journalists will not be judged for hating Jews in the same manner.
“France 24 Journalists Suspended For Praising Hitler and Hamas, Following CAMERA Report,” CAMERA, March 12, 2023:
On the heels of a CAMERA exposé of antisemitic social media posts by four journalists working for France 24, the French state-owned news network has announced the suspension of the journalists and is currently investigating their social media pages.
A France 24 spokesman emailed CAMERA, saying that “following the publication of an article on the CAMERA website, implicating one journalist and three Arabic-speaking correspondents from France 24 about certain remarks allegedly posted on their personal social media pages, the management of France 24 has immediately opened an internal investigation into the alleged facts.”
The spokesman continued, “As a precautionary measure, pending the results of this investigation, the four people concerned have been exempted from any activity.”
He also told CAMERA that journalists for France 24 are expected to operate under a charter of ethics when they publish on social networks and “any space dedicated to the public exchange of information.”
CAMERA’s exposé, which can be read here in full, demonstrates that the four journalists failed to live up to France 24’s charter of ethics. In numerous social media posts, the journalists can be seen praising Hitler, minimizing the Holocaust, and glorifying Hamas-affiliated terrorists who murdered and maimed scores of Jewish civilians….
