New in PJ Media:
Being the international spokesperson for a fake crisis can be tough, as the child actor who acts as the mouthpiece for the climate change industry has just been reminded. On Saturday, Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec tweeted at pint-sized climate scold Greta Thunberg, “Hi @GretaThunberg! Why did you delete this?” The deleted tweet in question had Greta quoting this: “A climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.” The date on Greta’s tweet? June 21, 2018. Either we have just over three months to live, or Greta’s tweet was juuuuust a trifle hysterical. Her deletion of the tweet suggests that even Greta knows that the sun is likely to rise on June 22, 2023.
Greta was even more hysterical than her fellow climate mythicist, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Mars), who on Jan. 21, 2019, chastised the older generations for not being sufficiently terrified in the face of impending doom: “Millennials and Gen Z and all these folks that come after us are looking up, and we’re like, ‘The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?’”
Well, yeah, because I’m willing to wager right now that the sun will not only rise on June 22, 2023, but also on Jan. 22, 2031. The climate change hysterics have been trying to frighten the public with false apocalyptic scenarios and predictions of imminent destruction for far longer than most people realize. Back in September 1958, future feminist heroine Betty Friedan published an article in Harper’s Magazine entitled “The Coming Ice Age.” Friedan purported to explain “how a rising of the ocean waters may flood most of our port cities within the foreseeable future — and why it will be followed by the growth of a vast glacier which may eventually cover much of Europe and North America.” Do 65 years count as the “foreseeable future”? Can we safely say that we’re out of the danger zone for this coming ice age now?
In April 1970, Paul Erlich, author of the bestseller The Population Bomb, warned that “population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” This ridiculous claim was published in the fashion magazine Mademoiselle, which gives us a hint of how wealthy Leftist feminists are made.
There is more. Read the rest here.

I mean no disrespect but…I’ve seen this story in about a half dozen conservative outlets, and they all have a similar headline…
“Greta deletes tweet about the world ending in 2023” or something to that effect.
But…she didn’t actually say the world would end in 5 years. She said the “climate scientist” says the world will end if we don’t stop using fossil fuels in the next 5 years.
Why does this matter?
Because stories like this are so easy to refute that I believe it makes the climate realists look a bit silly. Aren’t there enough ACTUAL doomsday predictions to point to without giving the alarmists an easy chance to “debunk” the claim?
Aren’t the climate alarmists’ arguments mostly hyperbolic, childish and irrational?
I say we stick to those instead of making the “fact checkers” look like they actually know something.
Just my 2 cents

Well, we didn’t stop using fossil fuels, and the world has not ended. I suppose it might end some time in the future, and can them be blamed on the use of fossil fuels–but I don’t think this is supposed to be open ended.
Then, the fact that Thunberg cited this claim likely means that she agreed with it.

Even though this article is pretty good…many people will still focus on the inaccurate headline and then dismiss the rest.

I don’t care what she said or didn’t say. She’s just a dumb ass grade 9 student who knows absolutely nothing about climate, the environment or climate change. The leftist idiots are using her because they know she’s just a dumb ass just like her parents who are cashing in on this fake fame

If you “don’t care what she said or didn’t say” you are left with nothing more than ad hominem arguments…

Oh, pish tosh.
Wisdom comes with age, with listening and not doing so much talking,; listening to those who have learned over many years and much work…and listening…to have reasoning and thinking ability.
this young idiot is not wise…except in her “own eyes.” There is no time for such nonsense. People like her are the reason for the saying, “children should be seen and not heard.”
The Bible says that the “Earth was created for the sons of men,” and “the Earth endures forever.” God says He put “forever” in the hearts of men.
the earth will continue, the sun and moon and stars will continue, human, animal, and plant life will continue; but someday, when the time has come, idiocy will be forever eliminated.

Idiocy is what it all comes to when climate hysterics have their way. The Swedish schoolgirl has been promoted as a figurehead for a movement that doesn’t care much for scientific truth. The neo-Marxists play out their affection, and sentiments before real-life experience. And little Greta is their mascot.

Glad she got it wrong. These predictions keep being wrong. Out here in Australia we have a notorious case where a palaeontologist, named Dr Tim Flannery, who had somehow become a darling of the climate alarmists, said that, because of climate change effects, even if there was rain it would not fill the dams again here in Australia, and recently we have had a period of enormous rainfall and floods, apparently due to the la nina effect on the weather. Flannery still hasn’t apologised for his bullshit prediction.. Just the other day, on the “Outsiders” program on Sky News, Rowan Dean, one of the presenters, talked about someone named Onions, in the UK, who said, back in around 2000 that there would be no more snow in the UK and they have just had massive amounts of snow and extremely cold weather. Seems that there are always catastrophists who say that the sky is about to fall in.. With Thunberg, I kept thinking, why isn’t this clown in school? I guess if the world is about to end, why bother must be what her parents thought. Seemed like child abuse to me dragging her around in the full glare of world publicity..

Your post, tg, reminds me of what Dennis Prager (a devout Orthodox Jew and who has wisely opined that the ending of Christianity in America will mean the effective ending of America) has observed about the monumental idiocy which is modern liberalism (Leftism), to wit, that being liberal means never having to say you’re sorry. True time and time again. Lefties, like the foolish Flannery fellow you mentioned, are dispositive here—ipso facto and the whole nine yards.
And if you haven’t to date looked up the many sapient 5 minute videos on PragerU, doing so will, I think, give you a bit of hope that Western Civilization, which Prager to his great credit has done his best to save as Robert Spencer has, may prevail after all.
As for Thunberg, she is just another snookered Leftist and ascribing to the bogus pseudo-religion and pseudo-science which is Leftism. Oh yeah, in microcosm she is all part of a much bigger problem, i.e., the great enemy within—Leftthink.
By comparison, Islam, itself an annoyance and threat no doubt, would be nothing more than a “surface nuisance” if only the West still had its act together, which it so obviously does not. The Flannerys, Bidens and Thunbergs of the world only make it easier for malevolent and foolish ideologies like Islam and Leftism to prevail. And this not a good thing by any measure. Time for a Guinness or maybe two.

Troubling times for the once confident and mighty western civilisation, Wellington, that’s for sure. I do hope that things will turn out alright in the end and that enough of the self loathing people in our societies, who always seem to want to run down our western civilisation, will wake up and begin to see that they have been provided with a bloody pleasant way of life by western civilisation. Thanks for the info about Dennis Prager. I’d heard the name, maybe here at Jhad Watch, but didn’t know anything about him. I’ll check him out. On Flannery, the left wing climate catastrophist mob loved him and his alarmist predictions. Of course, many commentators pointed out the fact that he was a palaeontologist and so what the hell would he know about climate problems, but it didn’t seem to bother the climate alarmists because the more alarm that is spread, the happier they are. I can recall that there have always been these alarmist types around. i can’t remember the names of them but I’m sure some guys, back in the 1970s, were telling us we were in massive trouble either because of overpopulation or because there was new ice age just around the corner. I hope you are going well. Enjoy your Guinness. Here in Australia, like every western country it seems, we are destroying our energy advantage by ditching coal and gas and going for the use of solar and wind, and a good economist out here, Terry McCrann, has been saying, for years now, that this is Australia’s economic suicide note. I suspect that he is spot on in saying that. Anyway, here’s hoping people wake up in large numbers and begin to appreciate what a great way of life we have in our democratic western nations.

Same here, Tim. We had had a drought lasting several years here in California, and many claimed that this could *never* be reversed–even though California (and Australia) have a clear long term pattern of drought alternating with heavy rains. That doesn’t mean that drought is not a concern, especially for farmers–it often is. But the apocalyptic hysteria over this on a regular basis is just ridiculous.
Right now we have had a *very* wet season, and are still getting copious amounts of rain and it is almost spring. This is a pattern I have seen several times in my life, and read about going back hundreds of years.

Greta Thunberg’s 2018 Prediction That World Would End In Five Years Doesn’t Turn Out So Well

Thanks for the reminder. Just one one of many calls for the end of the world over the past 70 years or so.
