As the Islamic jihad rages in Nigeria, authorities deny its motivating ideology and attempt to diminish its magnitude.
“Fulani Herdsmen Resume Attacks, Kill Over 50 Persons In Benue Communities As Nigerian Police Dispute Casualty Figures,” Sahara Reporters, March 7, 2023:
Although the police in Benue State said the casualty figure was not up to 50, it could not provide counter details.
Less than a week to the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 11, Fulani herdsmen have invaded six communities in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, North Central Nigeria and killed no less than 50 persons.
Although the police in Benue State said the casualty figure was not up to 50, it could not provide counter details. The affected communities in the four-day attack are Adam, Iyarinwa, Abamde Ityuluv, Waya Boagundu, Agura Ayaga and Azege areas in Turan Council Ward, Kwande LGA.
The former chairman of the Council Tertsua Yarkbewan, who confirmed the casualty figures while addressing journalists, on Monday, said the death toll could be more.
Lamenting the constant invasion and killing of his people by herdsmen, Yarkbewan said, “My people are being massacred like goats. What we have been hearing is that there are Fulani attacks, especially in Turan in the Kwande axis. Even places where there were no attacks before are witnessing attacks.
“Now, every day you hear that five or four people were killed, you cannot have the exact number of those that have been killed because some corpses are still in the bush and yet to be recovered. But looking at the number of people being killed in the past few days, I think the casualty figures should be over 50.”
Reacting to the incident, the Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the attack but said the normalcy have returned to the affected communities.
Anene, however, insisted that casualty figure wasn’t correct….

Rabid mozlums slaughtering innocent Christians in Nigeria. How many thousands by this time?
“fulani herdsmen,” a.k.a. children of satan the devil, a.k.a. devout mozlums, murdering for satan the devil, doing his desires and calling it all kinds of words to excuse the evils.
And the world doesn’t care becasue the “world hates” Christians.

Now that the Muslim-Muslim ticket has been proclaimed the winner of the Nigerian elections, these murders will increase and will go unpunished with the complicity of the Nigerian authorities. I have heard that the vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, is a former Boko Haram commander. If this is true, Christians are in grave danger.

SomeHistory,
Even within the Christian communities people do not wish to talk about the Islamic slaughter within Nigeria or anywhere else. I brought this up at a church meeting and was rebuffed for talking about Christians being killed daily.

I believe that some people think they can hide from the Truth…if it doesn’t agree with their views, and if they see it as unpleasant; something that makes them feel uncomfortable.
Did you ask anyone why they were “rebuffing” you? Did they indicate by their very words?
The Truth Jesus gave us is something a lot of people don’t wish to hear…either it makes them angry, uncomfortable, or they just don’t want to think about any responsibility
But, Christians should be willing to hear about others being persecuted. After all, the Apostle Peter said that when a Christian is going through any kind of trial or tribulation, he should remember that it happens the same with Christians everywhere.
And Jesus said all true Christians will be persecuted.
We are supposed to pray for those undergoing persecution, wherever they are. If we don’t know they are, then we won’t pray for them.

Excellent question. I have planned to talk with the person who did not wish to acknowledge the problem but when we are alone. We were actually talking in class about the point that you made about all true Christians being persecuted and I was going to make the point that it is easy for us here in America to casually talk about persecution when many Christians are being persecuted and killed. Having lived and worked in many nations where Christianity is not welcomed such as Nigeria, Pakistan, Iraq and others, I have to admit that I tend to feel really sad.

Nigeria: Muslims murder over 50 people in majority Christian area, cops dispute number of casualties
…………………………….
Well, you wouldn’t expect Nigerian police to try and stop the murders, would you?

Gravenimage,
After having lived there for more than three years, I can tell you that the government is complacent. While working at the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, I saw many reports of Christians being killed but nothing like today. The sad thing is that the Christians in the southern states of Nigeria, outnumber the Muslims within the Housa states. I asked some of the Nigerians (Christians) why the Christians cannot find a real candidate to win and the answer from them is that they are too lazy. I love the people of Nigeria and I feel like crying sometimes when I read about what is going on there. There is another saying that all politician who are in the government have to be corrupt or they would be killed.

Grimly, I have heard much the same. I think a lot of Christians in Nigeria are in denial. And this is not restricted to Nigeria, either.
Thanks for your informed view on the ground.

We are finding out just how elections are effective. They are not. There is voter fraud throughout the world. We need to be sure we will always have the second amendment. Keep your powder dry.

I am in a Christian chat with believers from all over the world. I told one Nigerian that I am praying for his country and the persecution that is going on there. His response was, “All that is not true!”
What is going on?!
