Celebrate diversity! Why so young a girl? Why Jewish? The answers could lead into Islam, which is why French authorities will never say much about Houd’s motive.
“Paris: armed with a knife, a man with a ‘particularly disturbing profile’ tries to kidnap a schoolgirl,” translated from “Paris : armé d’un couteau, un homme au « profil particulièrement inquiétant » tente d’enlever une collégienne,” by Caroline Piquet and Denis Courtine, Le Parisien, April 9, 2023:
The 11-year-old child had been followed on March 28 by this prowler to her home in the 12th arrondissement. She managed to free herself from his embrace and flee. The alleged attacker was arrested on Wednesday.
A 25-year-old man was imprisoned on Friday pending trial in May at the Paris Criminal Court for attempting to abduct a child at gunpoint last week near Nation. This 25-year-old Parisian is suspected of having followed this eleven-year-old schoolgirl to her home, before showing off a knife to force her to follow him.
The facts took place on March 28, a stone’s throw from the Place de la Nation, the scene that day of sporadic clashes between opponents of the pension reform and the police. After class, the pre-teen, of Israeli nationality, does not notice that she is being followed in the street by a man. As she pushes the entrance gate to her residence, rue Fabre-d’Eglantine (12th arrondissement), the prowler rushes in behind her. He follows her into the lobby of her apartment building.
This is where the individual approaches it. He claims to be looking to descend into the cellars of this large building, made up of a hundred apartments. The schoolgirl tries, in vain, to open access to the cellars. Uncomfortable, she decides to go home to the eighth floor. But as she waits for the elevator, the prowler rushes at her. He wraps his arms around her chest, and warns her that he has a knife. The child starts screaming. She manages to push him away and run away.
Already known to justice for rape
Once at home, the child gives the description of the prowler to his father. The latter immediately goes out into the street, and sees the suspect, on the sidewalk opposite. A chase then ensues. A passerby and several mobile gendarmes, engaged in maintaining order, also follow him. But the fugitive manages to pass out in nature. The prosecution opens an investigation, which it entrusts to the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM) of the Parisian judicial police. The police quickly set out on the trail of a young apprentice pastry chef, Houd O., already very unfavorably known to the courts, for acts of rape, armed robbery, offenses against narcotics legislation, blackmail and threats of dead. “At only 25 years old, this man already has a particularly worrying profile”, is alarmed by a source close to the investigation. “After the facts, he would also have returned to the scene, no doubt to track down the girl.”
“It’s cold in the back”
“It’s cold in the back,” worries a resident of the building this Saturday. “But that doesn’t surprise me: the gate hasn’t closed for a fortnight. In this vast building of eleven floors and three entrances, no neighbor seems to have heard the child cry. Only a woman would have seen the attacker. “We are going to demand the installation of video protection cameras”, warns a co-owner, a former member of the union council.

Why is this criminal not in prison? Or, at the very least, why has he not been expelled from France?
And to read that he is working as “an apprentice pastry chef” is maddening. Does that make sense? Knowing what we know about what some Muslims enjoy putting on dishes they prepare for non-Muslim patrons — I have been a victim of it myself, coming down with acute dysentery that lasted for months, after I foolishly ate at a Yemeni restaurant –that is not a position he is fit fo fill. Street sweeper, garbage collector — perhaps. But he shouldn’t be in France, or anywhere in Europe. France owes him nothing. But the French government owes its own people his prompt removal from the country

Hoi Polloi says
‘particularly disturbing profile’
Since when did they consider rape convictions or death threats from a muslim (against a Christian or a Jew, or a teacher who showed a photograph, perhaps) ‘particularly disturbing?’
I was expecting to read that he didn’t like Macron’s tie, or expected to be allowed free speech, or some other truly horrific crime against our “elite.” That’s usually what gets people arrested.

hooray for the child and her father.
the perp deserves a dirt nap.

You’re so right. I was so happy to read of his determination to catch this savage.
