All right, but the definition of “a good life” differs sharply in both religions. The pope would stoutly deny this and call anyone who pointed it out “Islamophobic,” but nonetheless, it is the case.
Qur’an 98:4-6: “Nor were the people of the book divided until after the clear proof came to them. And they are not ordered to do anything else but serve Allah, keeping religion pure for him, as hanifs, and to establish prayer and to give alms. That is true religion. Indeed, the unbelievers among the people of the book and the idolaters will remain in the fire of Gehenna. They are the most vile of created beings.”
Qur’an 5:14: “And with those who say: Indeed, we are Christians, we made a covenant, but they forgot a part of what they were reminded about. Therefore we have stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the day of resurrection, when Allah will inform them of their handiwork.”
Qur’an 5:17: “They indeed have disbelieved who say, Indeed, Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say, Who then can do anything against Allah, if he had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what he wills. And Allah is able to do all things.”
Qur’an 4:157: “And because of their saying, We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of Allah, they did not kill him nor crucify him, but it seemed so to them, and indeed, those who disagree about this are in doubt about it, they have no knowledge of it except pursuit of a supposition, they did not kill him for certain.
Qur’an 4:171: “O people of the book, do not exaggerate in your religion or say anything about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and his word that he conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers, and do not say Three, Stop, it is better for you. Allah is only one God. It is far removed from his transcendent majesty that he should have a son. Everything that is in the heavens and everything that is on the earth is his. And Allah is sufficient as defender.”
Qur’an 5:116: “And when Allah said, O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to mankind, Take me and my mother as two gods besides Allah? He said, Be glorified. It was not for me to say what I had no right to say. If I said it, then you know it. You know what is in my mind, and I do not know what is in your mind. Indeed, you, only you, are the knower of hidden things.”
Qur’an 19:35: “It is not fitting for Allah that he should take to himself a son. Glory be to him, when he decrees a thing, he says to it only, Be, and it is.”
Qur’an 9:30-31: “And the Jews say, Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say, The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the statements of those who disbelieved before. May Allah curse them. How perverse they are. They have taken as lords besides Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah, the son of Mary, when they were called to worship only one God. There is no God except him. May he be glorified from all that they ascribe as partners.”
Qur’an 9:29: “Fight against those do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book, until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.”
“Pope: Christianity, Islam share common commitment to good life,” by Francesca Merlo, Vatican News, May 4, 2023 (thanks to Tom):
Addressing participants at the VI Colloquium between the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies, Pope Francis encouraged each member, noting that with this being their sixth encounter, their perseverance is clear.
Commonalities between religions
The theme of the colloquium, “Creative Commonalities between Christianity and Islam”, the Pope said, reflects how “each of us is like the link in a long chain: many people have preceded us on the beautiful and challenging road of encounter and friendship, others will follow us, as we hope and pray, confirming that feeling of brotherhood that is the foundation of relations between peoples”….Bringing his message to a close, the Pope noted that the dialogue practiced and promoted requires a style of sincerity and mutual respect if it is to be fruitful, and requires “an awareness of both convergences and divergences”. He spoke of compassion for all, before adding that “we also believe that not everything ends with death, but that there is another life, eternal, where we will give account to God for our actions and receive reward or punishment”.
Finally, the Pope noted that “our common commitment is to a good life” and this, he concluded, “gives glory to God and joy to all those we meet on our earthly pilgrimage”.

Contrast what is written above, taken from the book of evil filth, with what Christians read of the words of Jesus Christ:
“Matthew 5:9
New International Version
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
“AMPC
Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. (Matthew 7:13)
There can be no “beautiful and challenging road of encounter and friendship, others will follow us, as we hope and pray, confirming that feeling of brotherhood that is the foundation of relations between peoples”….” mozlums and Christians as Christians are taught to be seeking peace, and mozlums are for murder, rape, and war.
And his “style of sincerity”….that’s laughable. “mutual respect” is not possible because *respect must be earned* and mozlums do not that is respectable. …And….mozlums don’t respect anyone, not even their own family members. mozlums don’t respect common decency or Truth or the Laws of the lands where they have *migrated* to take over.
This pope is a tool of the devil; a false prophet, a false shepherd, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, a rotten tree producing rotten fruit. He doesn’t know Christ or His teaching. He constantly lies about Christianity. Evidently, he hopes mozlums will devour Christians.

Islam is awful, an enemy of such things as true freedom and equality under the law. But even more awful are excuses made for Islam by non-Muslims.
The present Pope, who is a monumental fool at best, functions as a prima facie case of just how stupid and destructive Western leaders have become.
And with no end in sight.

Islam is mixed up and they confusing to those who are not only moslem but Christian. Islam incurs hate and fear and is for sure a started for war. One can go on and on but it does not matter because all that moslem is is WRONG!

Mutual Respect?
“Lo!Those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture and the idolaters, will abide in fire of hell.
They are the WORST OF CREATED BEINGS”
koran 98:6
There is none of that Golden Rule{{Matthew 7 v12}/2nd Chief commandment nonsense for allah{Lev 19:17-18}which is hilarious when you recall that allah tells us he claims he gave the Torah to Moses{koran 2:87…}…which contains these laws.Did allah forget?
Note from koran 5:51 that an infidel is not just a non/ex-muslim but ALSO a muslim who is merely friends with an infidel.
Bergoglio would make an excellent leader of any new world religion:and he is right about one thing. He will give an account for his catastrophic failures..Reward:seriously francis?
He presumes far too much on the Mercy of God and IGNORES the Justice part…like many clergymen.

What a load of bullshit from this Pope. Islam with its pedophilia, the child brides, with its calls in the Koran to go and kill the non-believers when the opportunity arises, with its endless honour killings and terrorist attacks is not about living the “good life” at all. To me, islam seems to be the complete opposite to Christianity and islam is barbaric and evil. This Pope is off the planet with the utter bullshit he spouts about islam. I recall from Robert Spencer’s “History of Jihad” that some past Popes called out islam as the evil religious ideology which it truly is. That is what this Pope should also have the courage to do. He should tell the truth about islam’s malevolent nature.

Somehow the Koran texts cited here bring to my mind the image of a nasty, mean spirited rank, a narcissist living in a hut somewhere like the Unabomber, or Hitler writing Mein Kampf. Railing at the Christians and Jews and condemning them, claiming to have thought of the true religion. The Bible was written by dozens of authors over centuries and represents a great selection of literature and theology. It is not the work of an angry fanatic somewhere in the desert proclaiming himself the greatest theologian of all times but spewing hatred and resentments. The pope is probably just making up the continuities and commonalities he thinks he finds in the two religions.

How come people are still following this false prophet?

Most religions strive for a good life. For a Christian example, “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” (John 15:11). Islam is nearly unique among religions in that they strive for domination which is serious business and is not to be joyful. Suras 61:9, 48:28, 9:3 all speak to the domination of Islam. Or from Jihad Watch’s Hugh Fitzgerald quoting Ayatollah Khomeini “Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious.”
Like most religions, the goal of Christianity is beatitude (joy), whereas the goal of Islam is serious (not joyful) domination. The pope couldn’t be more wrong.
This is the reason that Islam is incompatible with any civilized society and the American Constitution. Islam strives to be the enemy of everyone who seeks happiness (joy).

Generally Marxists/ Peronists like Pancho are pro-Moslem as well and they aim to bring down the West partly by letting in the Moslem to help them.
However if Pancho is genuine and he really is talking to the Moslem he must remember their warlord Mohamed would say that war is deceit and that is what is being done to him in the best of cases and he just can’t see it because he is so innocent or foolish (or a Marxist who knows exactly what he is doing).
Pancho must realise that when he sits down with a Moslem he sits with an enemy of Christ and the Trinity and that enemy is after the total destruction of what are supposed to be Pancho’s beliefs and temples..
The Moslem doctrine which Moslems are supposed to use when dealing with the likes of Pancho is called the doctrine of Taqiyya or of Deception and belongs to the Quran’s author the “Best Deceiver” (3:54)
This is so extreme that puts in to question if any Moslem at all can have any important post in any Western society.

‘Pope says of Christianity and Islam that ‘our common commitment is to a good life’….’
‘And what good life might that be?’ Following Jesus Christ’s example, it would a good life for everyone, possibly at the expense of a follower of Christ. Following Mohammed’s example. it would be a good life for muslims probably at everybody else’s expense.
Raja says
Jayell,
Common commitment to a good life but under different paths. One is an absolute perversion and another a straight path. The former wants child sex, both with boys and girls, sex with corpses whether in cemetery or elsewhere, always at the cost of infidel and the ever-present genocide of “others”. The law of God is perfect, but man is not according to bible.

Dear Robert, so you have a spare copy of your Critical Qur’an? Please send it to the pope but make sure that a nun will read it aloud for him.
If you have spare case please send him a Bible as well to give him the perspective of how they compare! The way he speaks I have my doubts that he has a Bible.

Gotta love this persistent use of the ‘word’, ‘Islamophobia’!
A phobia is a fear – often irrational – of something(s).
There IS no fear of Islam! WHAT there is, is a dislike – even a loathing – of a religious fanaticism, that puts that religion above ALL else!
