If we get the order, we “will conquer Iran within 24 hours,” says Taliban commander Abdul Hamid. “Iran is flirting with the West. In reality, Iran has teamed up with the West. Iran should know that if they cross our red lines, we will erase them from the map of the Earth.” pic.twitter.com/LQhy8TQWiw

After Biden’s catastrophically botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, anyone who knew what the Taliban were all about expected them to harass India and possibly even Pakistan (which is Islamic but not Islamic enough for the Taliban). Moving against Shi’ite Iran seemed out of the question, but the Islamic regime in Tehran was weakened by the nationwide protests, and the Taliban were apparently paying attention.

Would be interesting to see what happens. Are these empty words or real threat. It’s not good to say this… but it would be interesting to watch the Taliban go against the Iranian mullah regime in the battlefield.

With all the Ironware Brandon left behind in Afghanistan they certainly have the Fireware to go to war.

His statement is ridiculous but it’s entertaining. And it does display one of the basic facts about Islam: There are always those who will be more pious and fanatic and they’re always ready to try and take over when those who are not puritanical enough faulter.

Well, in this case, it’s the good old sunni vs shi’a wars. Iran shouldn’t have stopped supporting the Hazara militia that it supported back in the 90s

Excellent.

Well Biden has certainly furnished them with plenty of hardware to do exactly that !

Yeah, I wonder how such a war would look like? Iran w/ its almost developed nukes, vs the Taliban w/ $89b of US weaponry. We’d also know how much the Taliban have figured out about operating them
Yeah, I’d love to see the Taliban try & conquer Iran. It has been a part of various Afghan based empires, such as the Ghaznavids & Duranis, so it’s not totally unprecedented
