Leftists Feeling Betrayed After Muslim-Governed Michigan City Bans Pride Flag

Leftists in Hamtramck, Michigan, are feeling a bit like parents with ungrateful children these days. After all they’ve done for the Muslim community that now has made Hamtramck the first city in the United States with a  completely Muslim city council, their former allies and proteges have turned against them and rejected the increasingly aggressive and intrusive “Pride” madness.

As Rick Moran reported Thursday, “The all-Muslim city council held a vote on Wednesday evening about flying the Pride flag on government property. Mind you, the Pride flag can still be flown by businesses and private residences. Mayor Amer Ghalib said, ‘We serve everybody equally with no discrimination but without favoritism.’”

There’s nothing unreasonable about that at all, but the UK’s Guardian on Saturday painted the whole affair in a markedly different light, stressing the palpable ingratitude of Hamtramck’s Muslims to the Leftists who did so much to help them get to where they are today. The Guardian began by reminding us all of how much the local Muslims owed to the Leftists who allied with them: “In 2015, many liberal residents in Hamtramck, Michigan, celebrated as their city attracted international attention for becoming the first in the United States to elect a Muslim-majority city council.”

This was a truly great thing that grew even greater in retrospect, for it amounted to a repudiation of the man who before too long was to become the source and summit of all evil in the modern world, one Donald J. Trump. “They viewed the power shift and diversity,” the Guardian explained, “as a symbolic but meaningful rebuke of the Islamophobic rhetoric that was a central theme of then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign.” So the Leftists and the Muslims were both on the side of the angels, happily united to strike back against racism, xenophobia, bigotry and “Islamophobia.” How could such a perfect partnership possibly go bad?

That’s just the question Leftists are asking now, if the Guardian’s report is to be believed: “This week many of those same residents watched in dismay as a now fully Muslim and socially conservative city council passed legislation banning Pride flags from being flown on city property that had — like many others being flown around the country — been intended to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.”

Being wholly on the side of the Left in this unexpected and unprecedented breach, the Guardian went out of its way to portray the Muslims who were standing against the “Pride” madness in the ugliest possible manner: “Muslim residents packing city hall erupted in cheers after the council’s unanimous vote, and on Hamtramck’s social media pages, the taunting has been relentless: ‘Fagless City,’ read one post, emphasized with emojis of a bicep flexing.” As if that weren’t enough, “In a tense monologue before the vote, Councilmember Mohammed Hassan shouted his justification at LGBTQ+ supporters: ‘I’m working for the people, what the majority of the people like.’”…

  1. Leftists deserve what they get. Leftists always do but their disconnect with reality, a major feature of Leftism, unfortunately does not just harm Leftists but so many others as well precisely to the extent that idiotic Leftist “ideals” prevail.

    Leftism is a mental disease. Rather like Islam. Both are rooted in weird, stupid, ignorant, superficial and highly destructive crap and nonsense. The only real difference is that one is secular and the other is religious. Yet each share an animosity to so many wonderful things like liberty, equality under the law, true tolerance, common sense and the advancement of mankind overall. So sick of both. Why isn’t most everyone by now?

    • I’m thrilled by seeing the Guardian, of all papers, bitch about how the muslims are not reciprocating the support. Maybe all those hordes of muslims in UK – be they Paki, Somalian, Albanian, Bangladeshi… can mob the Guardian headquarters there & bay for their blood. It would be hilarious if the Guardian was forced to publish a retraction, and declare that it supports the jihad against LGBTQIA+ by muslims! ?

    • Hilarious! The Leftists made assumptions about Islam that were never true from the start. This misunderstanding was probably begun in the 1960s Hippie movement when some kids converted to a milquetoast synthetic version while never living its moral values.

      Real Muslims are bust-your-sexually-deviant-arm serious. Great cartoon above, Bosch Fawstin, it captures another leftist misconception that guerrilla fighters like Dr Che Guevara would tolerate trans individuals. They would have “disappeared”.

  2. It’s the first time I can these Muslems are right. Maybe, just maybe, Hamtrack is integrating- Like one of the councelers said, I am working for alll the people. I sure hope so. What is happening Europe just sickens me, makes me frear for another World War.War. I am a veteran of t wo wars and can tell you that sleeping in the mud is not wht its cracked up to be. KEN

  3. someone was describing it recently wasnt it??? in the iranian revolution that brought the theocratic regime they have untill today the leftist communists in the country then were some of the basic people that led the uprising in iran isnt it??? and as soon as the mullahs took over power they exterminated every last one of them at once….

    it will be the same in europe and any other country that the leftists worked harder than anyone to promote the islamic invasion…. in fact it is already becoming the same slowly….

  4. I do admire how dedicated many Muslims are to their faith, they just do what their religion tells them and are zealots for it, no matter how irrational,conflicting it may be. I am perplexed. I don’t want Islam to spread, but I also don’t want insane leftists to spread their commie/tranny propaganda. I guess this may be the best, having them have conflict with each other.

    But when push comes to shove, Muslims will have no problem using violence against the commies if they go too far. American leftists/commies are no match for them.

    I am concerned that those who are disgusted with the rainbow mafia will let their guard down in regards to the dangers of Islam.

    • Shema–with all respect–would you also admire how dedicated Nazis were to their ideology?

      • In all honesty, I think Muslims are much more dedicated to their religion. I think Islam has way more rules/restrictions/laws that must be followed and are followed by many more people than Nazism ever had. I am no expert on Nazism though.

        I will always be impressed with how devoted Muslims were to the basic tenets of their religion from my past experiences.

        Unfortunately that is one of the “attractors” of Islam, especially among converts. They see Muslims in general as not putting up with crap and being “true to their religion”. Then the structure plays a role in pulling people in, pray 5 times a day, no alcohol, drugs, etc.

        It’s so insidious.

  6. If ostentatious displays of support for homosexuality isn’t a form of “islamophobia” – what is?

    The point of the Pride movement is:

    (A) to make immigrants so disgusted at the degeneracy of the West, that they refuse to assimilate.

    (B) to make them so angry that they will feel no compunction in carrying out a violent takeover

    (C) that normal decent Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Australians, New Zealanders etc will be so demoralised that they won’t think their countries worth fighting for.

    I guess Soros, Qatar , Iran etc are funding the Pride, LGBTQ, BLM, Antifa movements.
