New in PJ Media:
Will Europe embrace and defend the freedom of expression or blasphemy laws? And once Europe makes its choice, what will the United States of America do in turn about the same issue? The showdown is coming in Europe, and it’s coming quickly. Last Sunday, Phedon Phedonos, who is the mayor of the city of Paphos in Cyprus, posted a video on Facebook of young Muslim migrants demonstrating in his city. They weren’t protesting over any local issue, but over the burning of a copy of a Qur’an in faraway Sweden. The implications of this are even more far-reaching, for Europe and the entire world.
Greek City Times reported Tuesday that Phedonos commented, “The march of young Muslims today in the tourist area of Paphos with the Qu’ran [sic] in hand with obvious religious fanaticism should concern the government and our State and, in general, everyone for the actions that must be taken immediately. History does not forgive mistakes and omissions.”
The demonstrators’ “obvious religious fanaticism” was clear from their cries of “Allahu akbar,” which does not mean “God is great,” as the Western establishment media routinely claims, but rather, “Allah is greater,” that is, greater than your god. It is a declaration of supremacy and the ubiquitous cry of jihad terrorists the world over as they commit acts of violence. 9/11 hijacker Mohamed Atta reminded himself to “shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.”
Their fanaticism was also evident from the fact that they were demonstrating in Cyprus over something that happened in Sweden. Islamic apologists and their Leftist allies in the West frequently accuse foes of jihad violence of engaging in collective blame of the entire Muslim community for the actions of a few “extremists,” if those foes speak honestly about the Islamic doctrinal roots of jihad violence. But if any collective blaming is actually being done, it’s on the Islamic side. Jihadis and their allies and enablers tend to see all Europeans as Christians and all Christians as responsible for the recent Qur’an-burning in Sweden, which was actually carried out by an Iraqi ex-Muslim named Salwan Momika.
Momika explained, “I want to protest in front of the large mosque in Stockholm, and I want to express my opinion about the Quran… I will tear up and burn it.” He added, “This is democracy. It is in danger if they tell us we can’t do this.” Indeed, Sweden’s Court of Appeal recently declared that burning the Qur’an was a legal form of protest, as part of the nation’s respect for the freedom of expression. That came after the police in Stockholm had stopped an earlier attempt to burn the Islamic holy book, on the grounds that doing so could lead to violence.
There is more. Read the rest here.
Michael Copeland says
It is a mistake to call this a demonstration or a protest.
It was organised intimidation, instructed from the mosque.

Agree.

From PJMedia”
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha called for Western countries to ban Qur’an burning using laws against hate speech: “We must send constant reminders to the international community regarding the urgent application of international law, which clearly prohibits any advocacy of religious hatred.”
If international law clearly prohibits ‘any advocacy of religious hatred’, then what is the world doing about Muslim clerics and followers of Islam? Their religion has its basis in hatred of all other religions Their religion advocates hatred of all nonbelievers and glorifies violence against others in its teachings.
Michael Copeland says
Indeed: “between us and you enmity and hatred forever”,
Koran 60:4, part of Islamic law.

As to the US, I read many sites unafraid of challenging narratives of many kinds, but they’re attempting to delude people that the problem here is the paper burners and falsely insisting that muslims can be allies. They’re also minimally reporting what is, in fact, a war on France.

Christians are being blamed for a heck of a lot of stuff. Now, “hurt feelings.”
This headline caught my attention last night, but I was too tired to post it.
‘Anglican archbishop declares ‘Our Father’ to be ‘problematic:’ ‘Oppressively patriarchal’
What is he doing calling himself a servant of God, a follower of Christ, a “bishop”?
Jesus said, “You must pray this way.” For Christians, that is a command, not a request. It is an instruction from our Lord and Savior and it is not up for debate, challenge or change.
If it hurts someone’s feelings, they can refrain from saying it…that is their choice. But, Christians need to listen to Christ, not some idiot full of himself and ignoring the commands of the One he claims to serve.
(Jesus also told His disciples not to take on titles {Matthew 23}”…and this guy is an “archbishop.” Imagine that; no surprise that he is ignoring the fact Jesus said to “pray this way, Our Father,”)

You know, somehistory, it’s my conviction that it’s better not be a Christian at all, though supportive of Christianity as an enlightened religion (and which agnostics, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, et al. have frequently done and still do), then to be a woke Christian.
Woke Christianity does Christianity no favor. Indeed, it harms it.
James Lincoln says
100% agree, Wellington.
somehistory says
Wellington, Jesus said to “count the cost.” If one could do whatever, go hither and yon with the wind, as Paul wrote about, and still be a Christian, Jesus would not have said to ‘count the cost” of being one.
I can understand what you are saying, and “woke” is fake. Those who say and do these “fake” things, are not fooling anyone except maybe themselves. They certainly aren’t fooling God; not even fooling the members of the groups you mention.
Better to be someone who tells the Truth, than a fake Christian.
FYI says
I am not a fan of woke christians but I read the Bible alright. They are part of the problem.
For an example of naive christians
1}pope francis thinks muslims and christians worship the same God:no they don’t.
allah is the pagan god of the kaaba NOT the Biblical God.
2}Christians invite muslims to speak at their schools{ but muslims curse christians in their ‘prayers’!}and muslims will not reciprocate.
3}allah is a muslim only god whose teachings violate the Torah{despite allah claiming he gave the Torah to Moses koran 2:87}so Jewish rabbis won’t be invited either!
somehistory says
Mixing Bible Truth with satan’s teachings is going against Scriptural directions for Christians.
“What sharing does light have with darkness?” None whatsoever.
When they mix in, they are no longer following Christ…if they ever were.

somehistory says,
“Jesus said, “You must pray this way.” For Christians, that is a command, not a request. It is an instruction from our Lord and Savior and it is not up for debate, challenge or change.”
Yes.
I’m just a bread-and-butter Christian – and I know this to be true.
How can an Anglican archbishop not know this?
somehistory says
James, it’s one of those simple Truths. If one can’t get that, why are they trying to understand….and explain….the deeper things. Like Paul pointed out, “When I was a babe, I spoke as a babe.” They are ‘babbling” evil garbage.
The woman in the group even went on to talk about using the word God, and saying that calling Him “Father” was implying He made “man in His image” but not women. Or some such satanic nonsense.

From today’s news,
“Fox News contributor Jonathan Morris joined ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ to discuss one Anglican archbishop’s declaration that ‘Our Father’ is controversial. ”

How do people expect Christians to respond to **threats** from mozlums, when those who are claiming to be *shepherds of the flock** can’t keep straight what it even means to be Christian?
mozlums the world over are demanding that their fake ‘god’ and fake ‘prophet’ be recognized as the “greatest,” and threatening those who disagree.
this world is n serious trouble, with people bending down in submission to what they see as current “culture” as more important than fundamental Truths. mozlums are emboldened by this wave of lunacy.

I wonder to what extent did/does Europe – including Britain – believe in freedom of expression? Over the last 3 decades, I have seen little to suggest that. If anything, the Left in the US wants to emulate Europe & get rid of that in the US as well!
Walter Sieruk says
In America also there is a very limited freedom of expression. For example, only a few years ago I discovered that in the Pennsylvania , in its capital city, Harrisburg. In the hospital of that city the security guards are instructed to tell any visitor who is wearing a shirt or hat with anything printed on it about remembering September 11, 2001 to leave the hospital because Muslim work and also visit at that place.
The Muslim influence is clear and obvious less and less freedom of speech is allowed.
By the way, soon after 9/11 the many apologists in America had made the claim that “The terrorists and mass murderers of September 11, weren’t real Muslims but criminals who hijacked the peaceful religion of Islam for politics.” How strange !
Nevertheless, the point being that if and that is “If” that claim is true then Muslim shouldn’t have any objections ,at all to some people wearing “remember September 11, 2001 shirts or hats since no Muslims committed those murderous affronts on that day of 9/11/01
Linde B. says
To Walter- Good one! I like the way you think, and you are 100% on target.
Walter Sieruk says
As a limit to freedom of expression the nations of Europe is sad but of no surprise . For even in America ,the country which in accord to the first amendment of the US Constitution which is supposed to guarantee “Freedom of Speech ” such is not alway the case.
For example ,,just today 7/8 /23, I remembered that yesterday was that 18 anniversary of those murderous jihad train bombings in that London train station that killed 52 people and injured many more on July 7 ,2005.
So put on a tee- shirt that had the words Printed on It “Islam is a religion of pieces “ I then when to the public library in my hometown wearing that shirt , then sat down to keyboard on the computer.
Then to of the librarians, together approached me and told me that my shirt in “inappropriate” that then they told men change or cover my shirt or leave the library.
In response to their demand, I informed my shirt in only a mirror reflection of that deadly Islamic jihadist train bombing which occur on 7/7/05.
The libertarians refused to listen to reason and the logic of that truth and repeated their demand. It’s amazingly terrible how much influence the politically ideology has infected American society , especially when come to “Muslim sensitivities” about revealing an ugly reflection about the reality of their religion.
This shows that “freedom of speech” is diminishing in America
