New in PJ Media:
On Independence Day, July 4, 2023, the forces of freedom won a major victory, and the Biden regime suffered a historic defeat. May there be many more days like this.
The Biden regime is authoritarian to the core. Like every hard-Left authority in the history of the world, it is intolerant of dissent and determined to stamp out all opposition, not by defeating it at the ballot box, and certainly not by besting it in the court of public opinion, but by forcibly silencing it. But on Tuesday, Judge Terry Doughty, Chief U.S. district judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, put a massive roadblock in the way of Biden’s handlers’ ongoing efforts to ensure that only their own perspective can be heard in the American public square.
In a landmark ruling in Missouri v. Biden, Doughty struck back hard against what he called “the most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history.” Doughty even began his decision by quoting the most famous adage regarding the importance of the freedom of speech: “I may disapprove of what you say, but I would defend to the death your right to say it,” a statement that is often attributed to Voltaire but which Doughty credits to the early twentieth-century English writer Evelyn Beatrice Hall (whom he mistakenly calls Hill, but that doesn’t detract from the power of his ruling).
Doughty declares that “in their attempts to suppress alleged disinformation, the Federal Government, and particularly the Defendants named here, are alleged to have blatantly ignored the First Amendment’s right to free speech.” He noted that “Plaintiffs allege that Defendants, through public pressure campaigns, private meetings, and other forms of direct communication, regarding what Defendants described as ‘disinformation,’ ‘misinformation,’ and ‘malinformation,’ have colluded with and/or coerced social-media platforms to suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and content on social-media platforms.”
Specifically, Doughty noted:
Plaintiffs allege that Defendants suppressed conservative-leaning free speech, such as: (1) suppressing the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the 2020 Presidential election; (2) suppressing speech about the lab-leak theory of COVID-19’s origin; (3) suppressing speech about the efficiency of masks and COVID-19 lockdowns; (4) suppressing speech about the efficiency of COVID-19 vaccines; (5) suppressing speech about election integrity in the 2020 presidential election; (6) suppressing speech about the security of voting by mail; (7) suppressing parody content about Defendants; (8) suppressing negative posts about the economy; and (9) suppressing negative posts about President Biden.
All that is abundantly true, and there are plenty of other examples of the regime’s hatred of dissent as well. Regime spokesbeings, however, will tell you that all they really want to do is protect poor, ignorant, distracted, gullible Americans from “disinformation.”
There is more. Read the rest here.

Just like the 80’s Iran/Contra affair where one branch or government and the alphabet agencies ignored directives from Congress and continued their nefarious activities in secret so they will do now. Same game different players.

The globalists probably think we haven’t noticed what is going on. There is a worldwide coordinated attempt to take away our free speech. It is happening in the US, here in Australia, & everywhere else. We need to tell them we aren’t going to accept it.
David M says
The same “disinformation” bill where they decide what is disinformation is before our Parliament. “Disinformation” does not apply to them though. Sounds like “1984” by George Orwell to me.

Bloody oath, David M !

It’s not clear that this is a ‘massive’ victory. Social media companies have been doing the bidding of leftists and government officials since at least 2020. Government agencies may no longer need to contact social media companies for censorship to occur. After all, we’ve been told these are ‘private companies’ and so are allowed to limit access to their platforms. Moreover, they know by now what government officials don’t want to see on public platforms and they will modify their software accordingly. Freedom of expression remains under threat from government and media working together to suppress dissent.

Precisely! These companies – Google, Microsoft and Apple – are way to the left of even the Squad members. Remember, it was they – probably Microsoft – who pioneered the idea of including one’s own preferred pronouns, and the Dems just followed!
As Vivek Ramaswamy has pointed out, Corporate America decided to divide & conquer the Left by getting on the same side of them on social issues – be it LGBTQIA+, Abortion,… and in return, the Left, which would now be bankrolled by them, would get off talking about Corporate greed, even if they continued to rant about income inequality and so on. They calculated that the Conservative movement would always be on their side, and some of them still are – Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie and so on. However, their hostility to the Right on the social front has resulted in the GOP now morphing into a populist party at least at the grassroots level, and splitting it vertically: among the Trump side of the party, there is Ramaswamy and maybe DeSantis (who’s still wishy-washy on foreign policy), and on the Pence side, there are the likes of Haley, Christie, Hutchinson. End result is that Corporate America has unwittingly cut off a pretty reliable source of support that they once had
Nonetheless, boardrooms would have to be purged of a lot of their members, who are usually members of Asset manager companies like the BlackRocks & the Vanguards, and who force in those ESG and DEI goals that individual inestors in those funds did not vote for. Only then can this cancer be removed

Infidel,
It is tragic what is happened to Vanguard.
I don’t think that founder Jack Bogle ever saw that coming…

Good for him seeing the Truth of what has been happening and ruling against the corruption.
This day, another article attacking RFK Jr. is running on the msn regarding the safety and efficacy of the clot shots. The headline proclaims just how ‘wrong’ he is. In reality, what he has been saying is the Truth.
At one time, the headline might have put it as a question and then perhaps answered with the body of the article. Not so these days….proclaim a lie as if it’s True and keep proclaiming it, calling those who oppose the liars.
Many readers may see the headline and assume it is correct; which is a huge mistake. That has been the case now for some years.
Keys says
RFK Jr. will be in the crosshairs of the controlling Alinskyite/Community Organizer wing of the Democrat Party, because he is a threat to their power.

It appears to me that the so-called Covid “vaccines” (the government changed their definition of a vaccine at least twice since Covid began) and boosters are still, after these couple of years, EUA (emergency use authorization) only.

somehistory says
Yes, Keys.
The only *vaccine** that was not eua, has not been approved because the maker doesn’t want to say what it contains. In order for it to be approved for use as a non-emergency shot, they have to list all of the ingredients. They don’t want to. And they don’t have to for those which are EUA. So they keep up the farce of an emergency and keep silent about what they are jabbing into people.
I’ve listened to a lot of what Mr. Kennedy has said, heard a lot of what is in his book about fauci and I believe he is being truthful. so, of course, he must be silenced.

Joe Biden is, in essence , very anti- American. Therefore, with this 247th anniversary of the official signing of the declaration of Independence on July 4th. 1776. It’s therefore very good to remember the wisdom of the former United States President, Theodore Roosevelt , who in a speech, rightly, declared “There can be no fifty- fifty Americanism in this country .
Walter Sieruk says
It’s very good that the United States had reached the 247 years anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
By contrast ,it’s terrible that the US has a criminal fraud, Joe Biden, masquerading as America’s President.

Adding to the judge’s list, just a few more examples of the suppression or chilling of free speech by this administration:
10). Suppressing free speech about effective Covid protocols by licensed medical practitioners aside from hospitalization on a respirator with remdesivir.
11). Chilling free speech of parents at school board meetings by an intimidating memo from Attty General Garland.
12). Suppressing public information and speech on the so-called January 6 insurrection.
13). Suppressing speech by labeling as “hate speech” opinions contrary to LBGT and CRT propaganda.
14). Attempting to establish a Ministry of Truth (Committee of Public Information or Disinformation Governance Board) under the Dept. of Homeland Security.
15). In general, suppressing any idea or opinion contrary to, or challenging, those put forth by the Biden Administration.

Yes, your list should be added to his, Keys. Well done.

And, the spying on people who attend church and are pro-life, threatening them and calling them “terrorists,”
I thought of a few others, but they have slipped my mind at the moment.
Keys says
Yes!
No doubt there are many more examples, and it is good to see them “named”.
Even if they are named by white supremacists.
Keys says
somehistory, I did not mean to imply that you are a white supremacist.
But if you are white and disagree with “Biden Administration”, you will likely be accused of being a white supremacist.
Heck, I have even noticed some Leftists calling black people white supremacists, if they disagree with the “Biden Agenda”. Shame, shame on them (right Hillary?)!
somehistory says
Keys, no harm done. I am white. And with my serious blood disorder, whiter than many White people. And I use to sing along with some of the songs by the Supremes. I’m not ashamed of being White.
that is what they want us to be…ashamed to be White, as if they organized the color of their parent’s skin before they were born. and White people were just too dumb to be able to do that, thinking White was better.
Yes, many Blacks have been called names, but that’s what the ignorant do….those without a good argument call out the insults.
Call me White and if you think I’m superior in some way, i won’t fight it. 🙂

It seems to be a question not so much about whether censoring will occur but rather “who” will be doing that censoring. It would be nice if there was a simple solution.
Any ideas?
