New in PJ Media:
You must have been getting too calm: a meteorologist for NBC and the United Nations itself have now sounded the latest doomsday warning, although this one isn’t quite as urgently dire as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s famous 2019 warning that we were all gonna die within twelve years (egad, we have only eight left) if we didn’t gut the economy, eat bugs, and let China become the world’s sole economic powerhouse. Now our Leftist intellectual and moral superiors are assuring us that the Southern United States will be absolutely unfit for human habitation by 2070. All right, everybody, back to the blue states.
ADN America reported Monday that the day when the South will become a literal hellhole is “probably closer than you might think.” NBC groupthinker and establishment meteorologist Angie Lassman “cited a controversial 2022 United Nations climate report that says rising heat in the U.S. will make parts of Alabama, California, Georgia, Louisiana ‘less suitable’ for human beings by 2070.” By then, Democrat governors and mayors will have rendered the blue states and big cities even “less suitable” for human beings, and so where will our children and grandchildren go then?
NBC’s “Sunday Today” guest host, the aptly named Joe Fryer, chimed in: “The human body simply can’t handle these levels of heat and will go into heat stress. With much of the country and the world experiencing these record temps, at what point do certain areas just simply become uninhabitable for humans?”
Lassman was right there to add fuel to Fryer’s hysteria: “That report also states that up to one-third of the global population will start experiencing life-threatening heat conditions, something that we currently only see in places like the Sahara.” The implications, she said, were catastrophic: “This all means climate migration, people in the hottest areas with the most vulnerable populations moving to avoid the heat and drought conditions. That of course, will put pressure on the cities and towns they move to and the heat [is] projected to cause this ripple effect this century.”
Lassman was getting a great deal of this nonsense from the UN; she “cited a study published in October 2022 by the United Nations and Red Cross. It suggests that by 2070, heating temperatures could make some parts of the world ‘warmer than conditions deemed suitable for human life to flourish.’” Nevertheless, it would be premature to look into real estate deals in Antarctica. We’ve been living with climate hysteria from the Left for decades now.

Actually, even if the South gets too hot, everybody who’s fled there over the last 4 years can move north to redder states – the Dakotas, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana,… There is quite a bit of real estate to choose from, and area-wise, even larger than Florida. Even if the moronic predictions of these meteorologists were to materialize, as far as we go, those places would become even more habitable than they are today, right? Or are they predicting a major polarization of weather where hot places will become hotter, cold places will become cooler and that there’ll be nothing in b/w?

I recall some years ago, governments were getting sand from places like saudi arabia.
So, people in the South could get some snow and ice from the far north where they have way too much.
It’s all just propaganda. Fear tactics to cause people who react without thinking, to begin moving back to caiifornia and new york.
It’s the news people’s jobs to tell the “big story” and capture attention; and the weather guys love the big news like hurricanes and heat waves. Raises ratings.

Maybe people’s ornamental banana plants in the middle tier states will be able to fruit; and we can grow oranges outside in Noo Joysey..
Also, people are a lot more adaprable than the doomsayers think. I foresee that in the warmer climates, white AMericans will adopt the habit of showering twice a day, as is done in Thailand and Taiwan. We will nap in the afternoons, and go shopping and eating between sundown and 10:00 PM.
Then again, this may be another instance of how apocalypticism sells.

Since most municipalities receive the weather reports, including temperatures from the airports, obviously the temperatures will be higher than if the measurements were taken in an open field or the forest. Taking a reading in the middle of a city is likewise going to be higher than the actual temperature owing to all of the cement and building materials such as glass. Also as has been mentioned here at JW, there was no way that the mean temperatures could have been obtained before the invention of a thermometer. It is also known that Antarctica was lush with vegetation before the continental shifts of the globe.
Another factor as to why North Africa and parts of the Near East are like a desert was the over grazing of sheep. The main reason for temperature fluctuations is the relationship between the earth and the sun which fluctuates as does the heat radiated by the sun itself as NOA has stated. I would love for the man who wants to be the world dictator, John Kerry with his little playmate from Sweden, Greta, to take and answer some questions from the few educated members of the press.
One last observation is that I remember a few decades ago that Russia wanted to actually raise the temperature of the Siberian area in order to produce more crops.

All good points.
Also, trees help to cool and many places in Africa and the East have had all the trees felled for fuel by the tribes who live there…to cook, to warm themselves and for light in rural areas.
The Southern states have lots and lots of trees. And ocean breezes in many of them that help to keep the temps moderate.

Not only the southern states but also here in the northwest. I live in an area that only ten years ago had only a few housing developments and now new complexes are popping up everywhere. Where once beautiful forests existed, developers have now destroyed to house people from Seatle.
I proposed a bill at a Seatle public hearing and suggested that they enact a transit tax on those individuals who work in Seatle but pay very few taxes if any such as Pittsburg placed on those who commute a certain distance from the city. If there is a vacant dwelling in Seatle, no new construction should be permitted. Unfortunately, nothing has been done and the forests are being destroyed every day.
