The last time this happened was under Obama.
The jihadist takeover of Mali was collateral damage from Obama and Hillary Clinton’s illegal regime change operation in Libya. You may remember that time Al Qaeda nearly took over the eighth-largest country in Africa because the Muslim Brotherhood wanted Libya and Hillary Clinton needed an election platform.
“When it was my turn, they took me blindfolded,” the thief said. “Suddenly I felt a pain in my right hand that was out of this world. My hand had just been chopped off.”
This is Gao, once the seat of an empire, and then a glorified village, and now a city the size of Scranton under the boot of its Islamist conquerors. Gao has become a place where thieves have their hands cut off, where women are forced to wear the stifling Hijab in 113-degree heat or be lashed and where unmarried couples are stoned to death.
While Obama posed for photos, the French actually went in and ended the Al Qaeda advance, but under Biden and the same old Obama gang, a decade later, Al Qaeda and ISIS are making a comeback in Mali.
Islamic State extremists have almost doubled the territory they control in Mali in less than a year, and their al-Qaida-linked rivals are capitalizing on the deadlock and perceived weakness of armed groups that signed a 2015 peace agreement, United Nations experts said in a new report.
The stalled implementation of the peace deal and sustained attacks on communities have offered the IS group and al-Qaida affiliates a chance “to re-enact the 2012 scenario,” they said.
That’s when a military coup took place in March and rebels in the north formed an Islamic state two months later. The extremist rebels were forced from power in the north with the help of a French-led military operation, but they moved from the arid north to more populated central Mali in 2015 and remain active.
The peace deal is a joke. Mali is up for grabs between military warlords and slaveholding Jihadists, some with ties to Al Qaeda and ISIS, along with the Wagner Group, drug dealers, and other fine folks.
ISIS is trying to take Menaka, a regional capital, hoping to repeat the rapid advance that saw them quickly seize sizable portions of the country, Taliban style, under Obama.
Meanwhile, Biden is somewhere in a basement having ice cream.

While I am concerned about the fall of all of Nigeria to islam, I really don’t care whether countries that are already 100% muslim – such as Mali or Mauritania or Niger – have “secular” regimes or al Qaeda or ISIS: they are never gonna be pluralistic societies or anything other than hellholes for non-muslims. So the implication that under a GOP president, ISIS wouldn’t grow in one of these countries b’cos our operatives would be there to sabotage it is something I don’t care to have. Remember how during the Trump administration, we lost a Special Forces or Marine in Niger, and Lindsay Graham was surprised that we are even present there? Rand Paul said it best, when he said, “You know that we’re in too many places when even Lindsay Graham is surprised at our being somewhere”
There is something like 190 countries in the world, and we have a military presence in 150 of them. We need to cut that down to the Americas, and the Indo-Pacific: combat Chinese influence in our hemisphere, and strengthen China’s enemies around its rim. We need to stop bothering about Europe and Africa, and leave them to the EU and the OAU

Oil rich Islamic states are funding the jihadists in the “third world” countries but that will also affect the Western countries very soon. Death of secularism and the rise of the jihadists in Africa would be the end of the West and all of the world.
