It is particularly insulting how Israel is missing from this equation, when it is not only the key player, but unlike the Palestinian Territories, it is a sovereign state. The ridiculous excuse was that “neither the Israeli nor the Palestinian missions were invited to the event, the UN diplomat said, explaining that it is focused on congregating important global stakeholders on the issue in order to ‘reinvigorate’ the peace process.”
It would be more convincing to claim that the Palestinians even want peace if the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, Hamas, Hizballah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and every other jihad group openly declared that Israel has a right to exist. Yet it would be absurd to expect this. The “peace process” would also be helped along if the UN ceased its obsessive anti-Israel resolutions and stopped pandering to jihad groups that are largely funded by Iran. Based on history and the founding charters of the major Palestinian political groups, it is clear that the annihilation of Israel remains a priority for the Palestinians.
Yet the Times of Israel article below completely obscures the extensive role of violent jihadists and Iran in the “peace process” by using words such as “hardline” and “radically” to describe actions of the Netanyahu government. These words would be more fitting if applied to the Palestinian leadership, as well as to Iran and its proxies.
Saudi Arabia so far has not shown good will toward Israel with respect to the Palestinians, or even a shred of impartiality. The Saudi-UN event appears to be little more than a show to pretend that Israel and the Palestinians are equally to blame for the conflict, and just more anti-Israel advocacy.
“Saudis co-hosting UN event aimed at revamping Israeli-Palestinian peace process,” by Jacob Magid, Times of Israel, September 14, 2023:
Saudi Arabia will be co-hosting an event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly next week focused on revamping the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, three UN diplomats told The Times of Israel on Thursday.
The event, titled “Peace Day Effort for Middle East Peace,” will take place on Monday and is being put on by Saudi Arabia along with the Arab League and the European Union in cooperation with Egypt and Jordan, one of the diplomats said. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will be the keynote speaker.
Neither the Israeli nor the Palestinian missions were invited to the event, the UN diplomat said, explaining that it is focused on congregating important global stakeholders on the issue in order to “reinvigorate” the peace process.
The current hardline Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused to entertain the notion of peace talks with the Palestinian Authority, instead moving to radically expand Israel’s footprint in the West Bank. The PA supports a two-state solution, but its leadership is marred by charges of corruption and President Mahmoud Abbas was roundly criticized last week for a speech employing a range of antisemitic tropes. Both Netanyahu and Abbas will be at the UN next week.

Israel should end its cooperation w/ Saudi Arabia, stop sharing intel on Iran w/ them (particularly since Riyadh is now on better terms w/ Teheran) and even disrupt their Mediterranean access that was signed last week at the G20 summit. Send the Saudis a signal not to take Israel for granted, or that Israel could do to them what they’ve done so far to Iran. Particularly sabotage their Vision 2030 ambitions

‘reinvigorate’ the peace process.”
They have been trying this, never gonna happen process, for as long as I can remember. They keep beating a dead horse. It has become tiresome. Don’t they have anything more constructive to do such as spitting in to the wind or giving medicine to the dead? The palis have been living off of handouts from other countries for decades. We want a state, we want a seat at the UN, we want a voice in international affairs! But please overlook the fact that we are violent panhandlers who produce nothing but rage hate and dead bodies. They would have better luck getting cats to make peace with rats but don’t tell them that, they wont listen. You ever see a hamster on a wheel? Yeah, that is a pretty good analogy for this peace process.
