I’ve Been Identifying Ilhan Omar as ‘D-Mogadishu’ for Years. It Turns Out I Was Right.

Ilhan Omar rocketed to notoriety a few years back by warning that some American officials have dual loyalties. As it turns out, she was one of them.

Back in 2019, the winsome and patriotic congresswoman had the courage to declare, “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says that it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country.” She was talking about American officials who supposedly had loyalty to both the U.S. and Israel, but on Sunday, a video appeared on X showing Omar telling a Somali crowd that they all were “Somalis first, Muslims second.” Nothing about being Americans. And that was the least jarring and offensive part of the speech.

Omar was speaking in Somali, and the translation was made by someone who clearly opposes her; however, in response to the controversy that her statements sparked, she didn’t take issue with the accuracy of the translation, but only with its interpretation. To a certain extent, Omar is right about this. She is being criticized for saying, “We Somalis must have the confidence in ourselves that we call the shots in the U.S. The U.S. government will only do what Somalians in the U.S. tell them to do. They will do what we want and nothing else.”

That sounds terrible, but an Omar defender on X contended that it was innocuous: “Omar says she is representing the interests of Somalis in the United States, which is a legitimate task, as a Congresswoman in any democratic system.” Commenting approvingly on that post, Omar herself added: “It’s not only slanted but completely off, but I wouldn’t expect more from these propagandists.”

All right. Certainly, a representative should stand for the interests of his or her constituents. Everyone acknowledges that. But Omar was speaking in Minneapolis and yet says nothing, at least in the available video, about fighting for her constituents’ interests in the United States. Likewise, she says nothing, as you’d expect, about fighting for the interests of the U.S. itself. Instead, she says that the U.S. government “must follow our orders and that is how we will safeguard the interest of Somalia… Sleep in comfort, knowing I am here to protect the interests of Somalia from inside the U.S. system.”

The interests of Somalia, as Omar characterized them, involved winning back what she contended was Somali territory from the breakaway province of Somaliland, as well as from Djibouti, Kenya, and Ethiopia. This led Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Ga.) to declare that “terrorist sympathizer Ilhan Omar… flaunts using her position as congresswoman to protect Somalia’s border while our border is invaded by MILLIONS of illegals who are a danger to America.”

    No, what she meant was that she represents the US Somalis and their interests in BOTH the United States and Somalia, demonstrating clearly that she and her constituents have divided loyalties. She is certainly right about her intent to use her influence within America for the benefit of Somalia. She even speaks about “the US political system” as if she only invaded it, rather than believing in its principles.

    Wasn’t this a factor in the decline of the Roman and British empires – foreign interests in their governments leading to lack of national unity?

    Dual citizenship is problem for democracy, evident when Erdogan travels in Europe, campaigning Turks before an election.

  2. I found it interesting that she considered they were Somalis first and Muslims second. I would think it’s the other way around, considering the concept of the Ummah, and of course, being Americans a very, very distance third.

    • I believe you owe all the pigs out there a most sincere apology, they must have been deeply offended by your comment.

        • Pigs have been known to save their owners lives during a fire in the home.
          And when a pig is raised right, it’s a terrible shame and sorrow to have to eat it.

        • So, you don’t just find my comments about Christ and God something you just have to attack…with *shouting* in all caps.

          If one is obedient to their parents….and that one wishes to eat …then that one will eat pork that comes from a pig that one helped raise. Not so much of a “choice” then.
          You show your ignorance so very often.

    These are benign, memorable, heroic lines.
    But now in the modern multicultural West it seems that America has merely thrown pearls before swine.

  6. Ilhan got it the other way around. They’re supposed to be muslims first, Somalis second. That’s how it works in the ummah

    Hopefully, some imam will issue a fatwa on her ?

    • Her husband, recently converted White guy, has the responsibility to carry out any of those demands from the mozlums who decide such things. After all, he may be forced to see it as his “honor” at stake.

      • Right on and maybe her husband should handle his wife as a true Muslim and tell her to go back to the bedroom or at least the kitchen. Or maybe they should emigrate to one of the northern villages of Somalia and see first hand all the joys of life she has been missing.

  7. i. elmi…alias, i omar, is a snake. Her forked tongue lies, lies and lies some more. She is a hypocrite, pointing her crooked finger at others, while doing what she claims others are doing.

    So, which is it, elmi? “slanted or off”?

    i elmi, alias (her father lied about their last name to enter the country, because he was a terrorist…a wanted terrorist…in somalia) i.omar….does not represent any non mozlum in MN. i elmi represents only mozlums, esp those in somalia or from somalia who have, like her, invaded the U.S.

    i elmi believes that when she speaks to her “constituents” in somalian, what she says can be secret. When her words are translated into English, she lies in order to fool English speaking Americans, esp those who might be in the district she pretends to represent.

    And wanting to lay claim to more “territory”….could that not include American land?
    She and the other mozlums in Congress, want to bring down the “house from within.” Just as the mb said was their intent.

    I have long said that she *represents her kith and kin* instead of all people in that district she was ‘elected’…through some fraudulent votes, to serve, and that she represents only mozlums in the U.S. and outside it. Getting paid to represent the interests and demands of mozlums.
