Why has the Israeli-Palestinian conflict gone on for so many decades, with no end in sight? One imam in Australia recently offered a novel explanation that is indeed illuminating of the root causes of the conflict, but not in the way he expected.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken just reiterated Tuesday that the “lasting solution that ends the long-running cycle of violence and ensures Israel’s security” involves “a pathway to a Palestinian state.” Yet the Palestinians have been offered numerous opportunities to establish such a state since 1947, and have rejected each one. Recently an imam, Ahmad Zoud, preached a Friday sermon at the Masjid As-Sunnah Lakemba in Sydney, Australia, that explained why peace in the Middle East is so elusive: it’s the Jews’ fault.
The learned imam took the opportunity to speak about the “characteristics of the Jews” in terms that could have come, aside from the references to the Qur’an and Allah, straight from National Socialist propaganda. Zoud was discussing Israel’s defensive action against Hamas in Gaza, which has made Israel the focus of worldwide criticism, and even brought it to the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.” In reality, however, the Israelis take immense pains to avoid civilian casualties, while Hamas does everything it can to increase their number because it is aware of the value such casualties have for propaganda purposes. The number of civilians killed in Gaza is actually quite low, comparing favorably to the death toll of civilians in other recent conflicts, notably the battle of Mosul against ISIS in Iraq.
Zoud, however, did not (of course) acknowledge any of that. He asked: “Who are these criminals who perpetrate these crimes? Who are the terrorists who act and behave this way? Who are these monsters from whose hearts mercy has been ripped out? My people, these are the Zionists.” He didn’t, however, stop there. Instead, he went full Goebbels: “These are the Jews. However, not all of the Jews are like that; just most of them.”
Then Zoud came to the key to the whole conflict, as he sees it: “The most important characteristic of the Jews is that they are bloodthirsty. They love to shed blood. From an early age, they raise their children on terrorism, violence, and killing.” This was a bit of projection here from Imam Ahmad Zoud. It is not the Jews’ scripture, but his own, that contains open-ended and universal commands to wage war against and subjugate unbelievers, and that thrice repeats “Kill them wherever you find them” (Qur’an 2:191, 4:89, cf. 9:5).

The followers of his ideology very often show the same character trades , modelling after him . One of the behavioural trades standing out is DARVO =Deny , Attack , Reverse Victim and Offender ( if you’re interested , look it up ! ) . Projection is another of such trades as is lying . From memory, having watched the disaster in Australia unfold, it was back in the 1970s when Muslims first let into Australia, Hank. I have to say that it took me a while to wake up to what a disaster it was. I remember that a guy from Belgium was visiting a friend of mine in Sydney and he said (it was way back in 1979) “Australia is a great place, don’t let Muslims in or they will destroy the place” and I, knowing nothing about islam back then said, “Oh, I think it’ll be OK”. It took me a while to research islam abit and then by around 2001 or 2002 I was writing to our politicians telling them to stop letting Muslims into the country and including those quotes from the Koran calling on Muslims to kill the non-believers, because I knew that the politicians knew bugger all about islam’s nature. Same everywhere in the western world. The dumbest thing ever in the history of western civilisation has been letting the Muslim enemy of all our values into our countries. Stupidity beyond belief. Without a doubt, the dumbest and most destructive move ever. I look back and I can’t believe how early that Belgian guy was awake to islam and its followers. Seems almost nobody was awake back in 1979.

I’ve had many conversations with muslims in my neighborhood most of them Moroccans . Once I dared mentioning what Mohammed did to the Bani Kouraiza in Medina/el Yathrib in such a coversation with a Moroccan Guy . At first he was silent , finally he uttered : “this was self defense”. Nothing has changed in 1400 years . Besides , in de past I’ve been beaten up by Moroccans , on another occasion a Moroccan guy tried to strangle me , I’ve been stabbed with a knife…., received death threats , false allegations of insulting “the prophet “and more . ….. Nothing has changed in their world , but I certainly have changed .

Thanks James ; I do practice maintaining situational awareness (PTSD ; hyper alertness comes with it naturally) and in my country( The Netherlands) we’re not allowed to carry whatever weapon . Though I carry a kubotan with me all the time , and will definitely use it the right way in close unwanted contact situations .

You know, does Ahmed really believe in his nonsense, I wonder. (but it is entertaining). I mean, which Jews are the naughty ones and which ones OK. Which ones should be killed and which ones maimed or something. Ahmed is creating a few headaches for Hamas. If Allah actually showed up, I do believe Ahmed would be reduced to a shaking, screaming, quivering heap of arms and legs on the floor. So much for his resolute faith! Of course, as Allah is said to be absolute, and already everything, then surely those he supposedly creates are just extensions of his / her / its own being. So getting such extensions (people) to worship and fear him is a little puzzling – like somebody telling his image in the mirror “You love and worship me or suffer!” In any case, in line with what Mr Spencer states, it seems that Palestine’s current lot in life is largely the cumulative effect of their character traits and the choices they have made over the decades. You know, just to point out Jews as the only factor is so simplistic – seems like a devious strategy to sway minds, subliminally or other, towards nurturing some kind of vile affinity with Islam – One of hideous outcomes of the Hamas Oct 7 atrocities seems to be the welding together of Palestinian welfare and Islam, and the masses of ‘Pro-Pal’ ravers seem to be going down this path. So many intelligent people ‘droned’ into the cause and Iman Ahmad adding his his own bit of nonsense.
