In November, over 30 pro-Hamas Chicago City Hall staffers wrote “a letter to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson urging him to support a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.” They also sought to turn the war on Hamas into a Democrat issue:
The staffers invoked the 2024 Democratic Convention, which is planned for Chicago next year, saying a cease-fire is “directly tied to showing that our city is united in support of human rights,”
The staffers didn’t consider the human rights, however, of the Israelis, who were savagely attacked by Hamas, thus prompting a defensive war in which Hamas has been using its own people as human shields.
A week ago, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called for a ceasefire in Gaza. And now comes a resolution passed by Chicago City Council calling for an “unconditional ceasefire” in the war on Hamas. It’s intended to “facilitate a lasting peace in Gaza.” But how could it possibly facilitate a lasting peace in Israel? The answer is obvious. It won’t. A ceasefire was already underway on October 7. Another attempt at a ceasefire will result in further attacks on Israelis, with the ultimate goal of annihilating the Jewish State.
After hours of debate, the measure came down to one single vote — Mayor Brandon Johnson’s — with council ending at 23 yays and 23 nays. Johnson’s tiebreaker vote lifted the measure to 24 yays and 23 nays.
The woke Johnson does not serve the interests of his own city; nor is his priority that of America. He would do well to start serving the needs of Chicago, a city in disarray that has been nicknamed “Chiraq” because of its similarity to an Iraqi war zone. Johnson would do better to call for a ceasefire on his own streets.
In addition to the turmoil in Chicago, antisemitism is soaring there. The Secure Community Network in Chicago reported record-high antisemitism for 2023. The “unconditional ceasefire” vote, which has nothing to do with the business of Chicago, will further perpetuate antisemitism.
To keep the woke and black vote, Johnson recently called for reparations in order to compensate descendants of slaves and help reduce violent crime.
“Chicago City Council passes resolution calling for ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war,” NBC Chicago, January 31, 2024:
A controversial resolution calling for an unconditional ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas narrowly passed Chicago City Council Wednesday.
After hours of debate, the measure came down to one single vote — Mayor Brandon Johnson’s — with council ending at 23 yays and 23 nays. Johnson’s tiebreaker vote lifted the measure to 24 yays and 23 nays.
The council was initially expected to vote on the resolution last week but the vote was delayed as the council instead backed a resolution supporting an international day of Holocaust awareness.
Sponsored by 1st Ward Ald. Daniel LaSpata, the Chicago resolution calls on Congress and the president to “facilitate a lasting peace in Gaza starting with a permanent ceasefire.”….
Hudson says
These idiots should be working on a ceasefire in Chicago.
Ray Jarman says
Well said Hudson.
GE says
Good one, Hudson! 👍👍👍
OLD GUY says
That would make more sense. Besides do you think any one cares what the political leaders of Chicago have to say about the Israels right to defend itself against these terrorist thugs. Chicago can’t defend itself or its citizens against the thugs running wild in their city. Maybe catch and release is the answer, how well is that working?
SC says
Excuse me! Dear Chicago you cannot even run your city effectively. Who the f*** do you think you are trying to dictate to othr nations. Just go back to ticking bpxes and keep yer schnozz out of other peoples business.
Hej hej Du! says
Thank you, Hudson. Your comment is CORRECT & SUCCINCT !

Maybe the Knesset can take some time out & call for ceasefires in Chicago, Berkeley & other cities that have passed such resolutions
Ray Jarman says
Firstly, since when does a city have the authority to conduct foreign affairs? Secondly, the city of Chicago has not had a credulous government for decades and where is King Richard Daily when they need him. He may not have been the most honest mayor of all times but the windy city certainly was governed much better than today.
somehistory says
They believe they see a “straw” in Israel’s eye, but their vision is sorely clouded by the “rafters” and railroad ties in their own eyes.
Thousands of little kids have been murdered in their own homes, doing homework, sleeping or playing in the yard; by drug dealers, gangs, domestic attacks, drive-by shootings, road rage shootings, etc. and daily calls claiming that everything is being caused by racism by those who are paid to govern the Windy City.
But the idiots who can’t govern one city, have to join the loudmouth busy-body bandwagon and call for Israel to surrender to her own annihilation.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson:
Stay in your lane – and do your job!
Major Tom says
These idiots think they can have a cease fire 6,185 miles from Chicago when they couldn’t stop one murder in their own city! Fools!

I’m going to repeat myself a lot: morons represent morons
PRCS says
Though what’s happening to Chicago–especially to the poor–under that mayor’s “leadership” isn’t really funny, of course, but that he was elected by a majority of those very folks does reflect the mindset that keeps people like him in office.
