Mohamed Abdou is now teaching at Columbia, where he was appointed as a visiting professor, for the Spring Term: “He Endorsed Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Then He Landed a Professorship at Columbia University.” By Jessica Costescu, Washington Free Beacon, February 27, 2024:
Abdou echoed that rhetoric days later during a “round table conversation” titled “Palestine 1492: Settler-Colonialism, Solidarity, & Resistance.”
“Settler-colonialism”? The Jews have been in the Land of Israel, that they called Judea, until the Romans renamed it as “Palestine” in 135 A.D., so as to efface the Jewish connection to the land, for 3500 years. The Muslim Arabs only arrived in that land some two millennia after the Jews, in the 7th century. The only “settler-colonialists” in the Middle East are the Arabs themselves, the most successful colonialists in world history, who managed to convince those many peoples they conquered to accept Islam, use Arabic, take on Arabic names, and identify themselves as Arabs.
“Look what 1,500 [sic]warriors were able to do, to whatever extent that we agree or disagree or partially accept, or whatever, Hamas or not,” he said. “But ultimately, I support the resistance.”
You’re a little confusing here, Mohamed. Can you help us out? “Look what 1,500 warriors were able to do, to whatever extent that we agree or disagree or partially accept, or whatever, Hamas or not”? Please explain.
Abdou offered a more explicit endorsement of Hamas four days after the terrorist group’s attack on Israel. “Yes, I’m with the muqawamah (the resistance) be it Hamas and Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad,” he wrote in an Oct. 11 Facebook post, which also lamented “false reports accusing Arabs and Muslims of decapitating the heads of children and being rapists.” Months later, Abdou’s assessment remained the same.
How many photos of babies and children burned to death – with at least one of the babies decapitated — would convince Abdou that something terrible was done by Hamas? How many photos of murdered Israeli girls, the victims of gang-rapes, some with knives inserted into their vaginas, others having been shot in the same place, would it take to convince Mohamed Abdou to stop claiming that there were “false reports about rape”?
Abdou continues: “I might be with Hamas and support the resistance, absolutely,” the Columbia professor told Revolutionary Left Radio in January. “Look what 1,500 did … they were organized and they worked in stealth mode and they divested.” [sic]
Yes, according to the enthusiast Mohamed Abdou, Hamas is the “resistance,” and Israel the Nazi-like oppressor. Murdering babies and children, gang-rapng and torturing young girls, mutilating the bodies of the men and women they killed, does put one in mind of the “Resistance,” doesn’t it? No doubt that’s what Jean Moulin, or Victor Laszlo, the real and the fictional Resistance heroes, would do if they were alive today, as they fought against the apartheid, settler-colonial, genocidal state of Israel.
“And nobody expected that this was the direction that Hamas and the Hamas leadership, or at least the political leadership, was going to take,” Abdou continued. “But look what the dedicated few [did] … how much a small group have defeated a larger enemy.”
But this was not a “small group.” Hamas sent in 3,000 well-armed men, and they did not “defeat a larger enemy,” but murdered, overwhelmingly, civilians at the kibbutzim and at the Nova dance party. They outnumbered 10-1 the Israelis who were in the security services — the IDF, the Shin Bet, the police— who though caught by surprise, nonetheless managed to fight Hamas that day and to kill half of Hamas’ invasion force.
Neither Columbia nor Abdou responded to requests for comment. Abdou’s role as a visiting professor will keep the Islamic scholar on Columbia’s campus through the spring 2024 semester. Abdou on his website acknowledges that the campus sits “on the ancestral and traditional homelands of the Lenni-Lenape and Wappinger peoples.”…
How thoughtful of Mohamed Abdou to acknowledge that Columbia’s campus sits on the “ancestral and traditional homelands of the Lenni-Lenape and Wappinger peoples.” Perhaps we should take this occasion to urge Visiting Professor Abdou to acknowledge that the Arabs in Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank are sitting on the “ancestral and traditional homeland” of the Jewish people. I’d be interested in his response.
All those who want to roll back Muslim Arab imperialism in North Africa and the Middle East, on behalf of the Berbers, the Copts, the Kurds, the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, the Maronites, the Yazidis, and yes, the Jews, should not just post on social media, but join live protests, perhaps even on the Columbia campus, where Mohamed Abdou will be able to hear your voices raised against Arab imperialism from his lecture hall or classroom. Those voices may yet provide a salutary chill down the spine of Mohamed Abdou as he hears, but dares not allow himself to acknowledge, the truth of that protest.

We know what happened. We stand with the truth, period. Whether he admits it or not is irrelevant. He is irrelevant. We know that moslems are liars and propagandists. Trying to convince them or change them is a waste of time. The only things they understand are force, death and scorched Earth. Thus, we should provide those things for their understanding.

What a nice thought……..”All Arab Muslims should go back to Arabia!”

Yes, I’m beginning to think that if a person is in denial long enough then what they wish to be true ‘becomes’ true. This is what I find most disturbing, that one can, under the right circumstances, eradicate what they don’t wish to know and replace it with a compelling, water-tight fallacy. I’m wondering whether Abdou knows the truth but wishes to cover it up, or whether he has truly indoctrinated himself. In any case, either way, he’s a monster of a being. He has about as much virtue and nobility as a dog’s flea.
Recently, I posted comments on ‘National Post’ ( a Canadian site) referring to Hamas atrocities. The following replies were in my email the following day;
1) “Hamas never beheaded anyone. You’re lying”.
2) “These allegations have been completely debunked”.
I simply emailed back the following response:
What evidence is there for Hamas atrocities in Israel?
The footage, captured by security cameras, body cameras worn by the Hamas attackers, vehicle dashboard cameras, social media accounts and videos from mobile phones, left some reporters in tears. The material included the killing of children and decapitation of some victims.23 Oct 2023 – THE GUARDIAN
Later, disappointingly, my posts were ‘DEACTIVATE’D’! It seems even National Post have been tainted by this insidious world ‘sway’.
Yes, it’s frightening, even terrifying that seemingly, a ‘non-truth’ can become an impenetrable ‘truth’ if someone believes / wants it enough. I tend to think that this why some people can argue so convincingly and resolutely about something that is a complete falsification.
In any case, it’s also very depressing (for me, anyway) that people can actually begin to perceive Hamas in a completely different light, when in fact they simply butcher and burn people alive. Now it’s as though Hamas are actually divorced from the atrocities committed on Oct 7, that their is no connection between the two. Truth becomes fantasy, and fantasy becomes truth.
Anyway, enough of my soulful surmising. If anyone can give me some insight into what’s going on to console me, please do.

Excellent question.
Or, perhaps, willful ignorance.

Thanks James. I feel I have some insight into the possible psychology behind it all, but I don’t have as much knowledge about the Israeli / Palestinian conflict over the decades, something which I need to look at to get a better understanding – this is where I feel I’m currently ignorant, but sadly, more actual than willful!

Actually, in retrospect, I feel ‘current lack of knowing’ is a better phrase to refer to the sincere people who comment on this site than ‘ignorant’ which carries a negative connotation. Of course, the dictionary definition of these words carries no such connotations, but everyday usage of the word does. Of course, your comments are sincere, but others may perceive them as envy / arrogance based censure. In any case, I will leave the this article and this conversation here, as I’m eager to see the comments of others on other articles. Regards, RD.

Abdou’s statements lead me to conclude that his seeming equivocation isn’t because he doesn’t accept that Hamas did what it did but because he starts with the premise that the Ummah has the sole legitimate claim to Eretz Yisrael and therefore nothing Muslims do to successfully assert that claim is wrong.
“Terrible” has a negative connotation these days. Abdou is likely distancing himself from even the suggestion that anything he said might be seen as anything other than full-hearted approval of what is after all not only jihad but purely defensive jihad.

I suspect that this particular piece of evil Muslim shit, like so many other Muslim barbaric scum, think that the way the monsters from hamas behaved in early Oct is a perfectly OK way to behave. Muslims have behaved in such totally evil, totally inhuman and barbaric ways throughout their hideous 1400 year history. What an evil piece of shit like this scumbag thinks is of no account to me. And the same for all the other evil defenders of the scum from hamas. Anybody who defends such creatures is a worthless piece of trash totally lacking in morality. This scumbag will certainly poison quite a few young minds with his evil bullshit in his position at the university. That is if anyone is stupid enough to attend any of his lectures. What a load of bullshit his lectures would be.

For Islamists, what Hamas did on 10/7 was not terrible at all, but a good deed deserved to be praised. Rapings, killings, beheadings, kidnappings etc are heinous crimes only if the victims are muslims and the perpetrators are non muslims. If done by muslims to non muslims, then it is a virtuous job rewarded by Allah and is called jihad.

Exactly

But 6 1/2 billion nonmuslims like jihad against the muslims !

Instead of trying to convince depraved supporters of Muslim terror folks should seek to cut off funding, state and federal, to these terrorist harboring universities and their students..
