Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) hectors an ally in the middle of a war: “Schumer: Netanyahu a major obstacle for peace, Israel must hold elections,” by Hannah Sarisohn, Jerusalem Post, March 14, 2024:
Global support for Israel will continue to get worse if the Israeli government continues moving toward a single state entirely under its control, Schumer said.
Israel does not wish to rule over the Palestinians in Gaza, nor over the Palestinians in Area A of the West Bank. Netanyahu has said that those Palestinians will have total autonomy over their own lives, but not the ability to harm Israel. As Netanyahu’s lapidary formula puts it, “I’m certainly willing to have them have all the powers that they need to govern themselves, but none of the powers that can threaten us.”
“As the highest ranking Jewish elected official in our government and as a staunch defender of Israel, I rise today to say unequivocally, this is a grave mistake for Israel, for Palestinians, for the region, and for the world,” Schumer said. “The only real and sustainable solution to this decades-old conflict is a negotiated two-state solution, a demilitarized Palestinian state, living side by side with Israel in equal measures of peace, security, prosperity, dignity, and mutual recognition.”
Both Jews and Palestinians have long, historical claims to this land, Schumer said, contrary to the “unfounded, absurd and offensive claims by some of the Jewish people are colonizers in their ancestral homes.” But Palestinians have lived on the land for generations, Schumer said, and in past centuries, have formed their own culture, identity, cuisine, and literature.
Palestinians have “lived on the land for generations”? There were no “Palestinians” before they were invented, for obvious propagandistic purposes, and at the suggestion of the KGB, in the mid-1960s. Schumer wants us to believe that “both the Jews and Palestinians have long, historical claims to this land.” He dares to compare the Jews’ 3500 years of history in the Land of Israel, that began two millennia before a single Muslim Arab appeared in the area, with the “Palestinian” Arabs’ much shorter and more tenuous presence in the land. Does he not know of the reports from 19th century travelers to “Palestine,” such as Mark Twain, who visited the area in 1867 and described in The Innocents Abroad the desolation and waste of the land, where one could ride for miles without seeing a single living being? “Palestine,” Twain wrote, “sits in sackcloth and ashes.” And Jerusalem, the “stateliest name in history,” was in reality a village, so small he could circle it – all “rags, wretchedness, poverty and dirt” – in a hour. When he visited there were fewer than 150,000 thousand Arabs, and rural Bedouins living in what was then called “Palestine.” Those Arbs did not think of themselves as “Palestinians.” They considered themselves to be “Arabs of southern Syria.”
Schumer claims that those he insists on calling “Palestinians” have formed their “own culture, identity, cuisine, and literature.” No, they have not. They are no different in their language, religion, folktales, mores, or cuisine from Arabs in Jordan or Syria. They have tried to convince the world that they really are a “separate people.” As Zuheir Mohsen, the Palestinian leader of the terror group As Saiqa, said in a 1970 interview in the Dutch newspaper Die Trouw, “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct ‘Palestinian people’ to oppose Zionism.”
The only solution to this predicament is one in which each person can flourish in their own state, side by side, Schumer said. Though for a two state solution to work in the long term, it has to include real and meaningful compromises by both sides, Schumer said.
Schumer continues to believe that the Palestinian Arabs, if given a state of their own, would settle down to peace with Israel. Ariel Sharon decided in 2005 to pull all the Israelis out of Gaza, leaving for the Gazan Arabs infrastructure, including greenhouses worth $14 million (paid for by American millionaire Mortimer Zuckerman) so that they could take over the business — raising flowers and fruit for export to Europe. Sharon believed that the Gazans would seize the opportunity to live in peace and prosperity with Israel.
He was quickly disabused of this. Instead of accepting the greenhouses and putting them to use, the Gazans vandalized and destroyed them. And instead of Gaza becoming a peaceful neighbor to Israel, the Gazans voted in Hamas, which ever since then has been making intermittent war on the Jewish state from its base in Gaza. It is the same in the West Bank, where Palestinians continue to launch terror attacks on the Jews among whom they live. Yet Schumer thinks giving them a state of their own will finally bring “peace to the two peoples.” After October 7, even Israelis of the left-wing “peace parties” have had to rethink their own naïve faith in “two states for two peoples” and decided that they agree with Netanyahu: they too now oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state. I don’t think Chuck Schumer realizes just how profound has been the change in Israeli opinion on this matter.

This creepy, ugly liar, needs to spend some of the millions he’s made off the American people as a rank member of government on some books by Mr. Robert Spencer, Mr. Raymond Ibrahim and others who tell it like it is about islam….its “culture” its “peace”….and other words which mozlums twist to suit their agenda.
Until then, stop feeling your oats, schumer, and close your mouth and listen to those who actually know something.
See Miriam Webster for “rank.”

The Palestinians were never known by that name until Arafat came along. They are genetically, linguistically and culturally Arabs.
Yasser was great at name changing as his real name is “Mohammed Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini”
Mike says
Also, Yasser Arafat was an Egyptian who was born in Cairo. In a Palestinian phonebook, one can easily find names such as Al-Misri (Egyptian), al-Maghrebi (Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia), al-Chalabi (Syrian), or al-Baghdadi (Iraqi).
Sort of scotches the bullcrap that Israelis are Jewish colonialists and invaders. Over half of Israeli Jews are Mizrahi Jews, with Middle Eastern and North African origins, and lots of Sephardic and even Ashkenazi Jews have at least some Middle Eastern and/or North African descent.

islamic culture means dragging human beings back to living the way Arabs lived back in the 7th century, imitating the way of life of the knuckle dragging piece of crap, Muhammad. Yeah, that’s some culture. And since other Muslims countries don’t want any of these Palestinians, the Palestinians must be even more barbaric than the average Muslims which is really saying something. A useless rabble, the Palestinians, and with one goal only in their diseased minds, from what I see of them, and that is the annihilation of israel. Culture, my arse. They are complete barbarians.
abu taleb says
Palestinians are no more barbaric than the rest of the Arabs, in fact they used to be more educated than the Arabs in the Gulf area. Palestinians are as barbaric as other Arabs because of the Islamic culture for centuries.
There are two reasons why the neighbor Arab countries do not want to accept the Palestinians, first the Palestinians has created problems in their host countries. Second, muslims do not really want to help other muslims the same way the west helps other people.
tim gallagher says
Thanks for the comment, abu taleb. It is no doubt true that it is islam that has dragged, or held, these people back. What a nightmare it would be if the Muslims end up winning this war on all of us infidels and drag us all back to living the primitive, backward life that islam imposes on everybody. I had heard that the other Muslims don’t want to take in and help the Palestinians because they have caused trouble previously. To me, it seems that we, in western countries, are just too nice and too soft and are being taken advantage of, as we are being invaded by Muslim hordes who basically (in most cases) hate our culture and who want to impose barbaric islam on all of us. I could not give a damn about the Palestinians because. apparently, over 70% of them supported hamas and the atrocities those scum of the earth committed in early October. To me, anyone who supported such extreme evil can go to hell. I also Include all our left wing western scum who support hamas.

Schumer repeats everything that Hamas supporter, Rep. Tlaib tells him. Schumer is quite uniformed about Israel and the history of the conflict. And if he repeats to the press whatever lies Tlaib conveys to him, maybe Tlaib will tell Michigan Arab American Muslims to vote for Biden.
mgoldberg says
And of those lib leftists who bought the greenhouses and farms and gave them to the arabs, has even one stood up and said, ‘I was wrong, I bought them for free farms and businesses and they burnt them and destroyed them out of hatred for the jews’. None of them that I can recall has admitted to what their folly brought.
John Smith says
Chuck Schumer is typical of the many clueless idiots who are now serving in the Biden administration. It’s obvious that he knows absolutely nothing as to what is really going on over there. Anyone with an ounce of common sense will know that a two state solution is doomed before it’s even started.
They’ve already had an independent self governing Palestinian state Mr Schumer, what the hell do you think Gaza was, and that worked out fine didn’t it Mr Schumer.
Kosh's Shadow says
Palestinian culture is as toxic as a bacterial culture. Its only value is killing Jews.
Cuisine? Jewish blood.
Literature? Lies of hate against Israel and all Jews.
And all that in such a short time that the Arabs have identified as Palestinian.
Linda says
If we listen to Schumer and reward these Extremists who use these Islamic tactics of acting victims after they start a war with barbaric acts of burning babies, taking hostages from civilians, raping and torturing, murdering, mutilating bodies we are in big trouble. We should not have any sympathy for these barbarians who scheme and break every rule of war. They have their own playbook for claiming victimhood when they allow themselves to be human shields. They put missile launchers in civilian hospitals then say they are victims and their enemy is breaking all the International rules of war. They have their playbook and we are trapped because we fight with stricter rules. They know how to win a Political War better than we do. They use propaganda and lies that Politicians fall for and the media helps them.
There is a great article in Gatestone by Hochman describing this.

The incredible hubris and evil intent this guy exhibits!
How dare he!
I’m a grandmother: I remember the DECADES of terrorist attacks Israel has steadfastly endured.
People, like Schumer, are delusional and/or deceived. But there is no will in them for truth! Sickening.

Yes I agree, they are bought and paid for by the highest bidder. Schumer would have his own people killed for cash.
