Moderate? Absolutely. A hadith depicts Muhammad specifying the punishment for homosexual activity: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Loot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.’” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4462)
Muhammad is not described as saying anything about ten to fifteen years in prison. That’s why Iraq is moderate.
“Iraq makes same-sex relations punishable by up to 15 years in jail,” Agence France-Presse, April 27, 2024:
Iraq’s parliament has passed a bill making same-sex relations punishable by up to 15 years in prison, in a move condemned as an “attack on human rights”.
Transgender people will also be sentenced to three years in jail under the amendments to a 1988 anti-prostitution law, which were adopted during a session attended by 170 out of 329 lawmakers on Saturday.
A previous draft had proposed capital punishment for same-sex relations, in what campaigners had called a “dangerous” escalation. The new amendments enable courts to sentence people to between 10 and 15 years in prison, according to the document seen by AFP, in a country where gay and transgender people already face frequent attacks and discrimination.
They also set a minimum seven-year prison term for “promoting” same-sex relations and a sentence ranging from one to three years for men who “intentionally” act like women.
The amended law makes “biological sex change based on personal desire and inclination” a crime and punishes trans people and doctors who perform gender reassignment surgery with up to three years in prison.
Homosexuality is taboo in Iraq’s conservative society, but there had not previously been a law that explicitly punished same-sex relations. Members of Iraq’s LGBTQ+ community have been prosecuted for sodomy or under vague morality and anti-prostitution clauses in Iraq’s penal code.
“Iraq has effectively codified in law the discrimination and violence members of the LGBTI community have been subjected to with absolute impunity for years,” said Amnesty International’s Iraq researcher, Razaw Salihy….

I wish Muslim countries would get their act together. Strange that consensual same sex relationships are punishable but a mature man with young BOYS is not ( or young GIRLS !!! ).Ask the Americans when in Afghanistan re guys and BOYS, told not to interfere and turn a blind eye. And what about the Ayatollahs engaging in ” thighing ” with naked YOUNG girls , 4 yrs old. Twisted perverts, but that’s OK.

Evil “twisted perverts” …mozlums lust, to rape children; and murder them and those who oppose their perversions.

Also, a lot of Muslims think it’s all right for men to rape other grown men, to humilate them. It’s consensual same-sex relations between adults that they don’t like.

So much for the invasion of Iraq by the US…they remain as backwards and barbaric as they were under Saddam Hussein.
This just proves in a big way the failure of leadership and understanding the real danger we face from Islamic fascism.
Because Bush lacked the basic intelligence when the US was attacked on 9/11…he stopped as “finding the bad guys bringing them to justice” rather than understand that such a massive attack was an act of war not by some random ragtag terrorist group, but by an ideology-Islam.
Imagine how different the world would’ve looked had we treated Muslims as the enemy than one of their terrorist groups. Then we would’ve stopped Islamic immigration, worked on deporting people on terrorist watch lists and activists Muslims.
We might’ve focused on shutting down mosques as well so this ideology doesn’t take root in our countries. We could’ve also finally brought true freedom to Islamic states and bring them into modernity…with rights for women, gays, non-Muslims and so on.
But instead, his small mind couldn’t grasp the bigger picture and he was led around the nose by his Arab buddies…and did their bidding.
So now we’re continuing to have to deal with a danger that has only grown bigger in the West since then, while we wait for the elites to wake up to this threat. Additionally our intelligence agencies could’ve easily figured it out, by monitoring Muslims and studying Islamic texts and the history of Islamic invasions. This info isn’t hard to find…certainly we’ve done it here.
I hope I’m around to see the day our elites finally get it…but given at how badly things are going, I think it’s just going to get much worse until there is a true movement against this death cult.

The people introducing, imposing, and enforcing these laws must be sick as hell.
