The journalist Richard Littlejohn is furious with those who are now urging Israel to agree at once to a permanent ceasefire with Hamas in Gaza, thereby leaving Hamas standing, with four intact battalions in Rafah, which Arabs and Muslims will interpret as a “victory” over the evil Zionist entity. And then Hamas, seeing itself has having “won” the Gaza war, will seek to repeat, as it has threatened to do, the atrocities committed on October 7 “again and again and again.” He notes that when the Americans or British kill civilians, it’s called “friendly fire.” When Israel does it, it’s a “war crime.”
More on Littlejohn’s fury against all those now demanding that Israel end its war with those who want to destroy it, before victory is achieved, can be found here: “RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: When U.S. troops kill aid workers, it’s ‘friendly fire’. When Israel does, it’s a ‘war crime’. The double standards are nauseating,” Daily Mail,
Hamas has made no secret of the fact it wants to slaughter Jews and wipe Israel off the face of the Earth. Yet, absurdly, it’s Israel being accused of genocide.
To those demanding that Israel stands down and lets Hamas continue to occupy its tunnels, I say this: Imagine that the Islamist terrorist who attacked Manchester Arena, killing 22 and injuring 1017 more, hadn’t strapped on a suicide vest but instead had planted his bombs before making a swift getaway.
Then after he had escaped, he decamped to Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he was holed up in the basement with a few dozen other jihadists and a deadly arsenal. Should the anti-terror squad just shrug and leave them to it, so that some time later they were free to emerge under the cover of darkness and blow up Old Trafford or go on a gun rampage in the Arndale Centre?
Look, I don’t want to sound flippant but Israel is fighting for its very existence against a fanatical Islamist death cult.
It can do without posturing, point-scoring Western politicians, lawyers and activists inserting themselves into the narrative. This isn’t about them; it’s about the very survival of a people and a democratic nation.
Hamas are our enemies, too, the kissing cousins of the nutjobs who blew up Manchester Arena, the London Transport network, and have committed countless other terrorist atrocities in Europe. Supporting Israel is not, as m’learned friends pretended this week, ‘inciting genocide’. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Israel has no intention of committing “genocide.” That is why it makes colossal efforts to warn civilians away from areas and buildings about to be targeted. In just the first month of war, the IDF dropped 14 million leaflets, sent six million messages on the Internet, and made four million telephone calls, to Gazans living in northern Gaza, advising them to head south, to beyond the Wadi Gaza, because the north was about to become a battlefield. And 900,000 of them did as directed, and were safe.
War is hell and there will always be, to use that horrible euphemism, ‘collateral damage’.
Terry Lloyd and the courageous aid workers killed in Gaza this week understood that….
Terry Lloyd was a British journalist, working for ITV, who was traveling in a clearly-marked press car (it had “TV” in big letters, written on all sides) toward Basra, in Iraq, in 2003, when it was fired upon by American Marines, and Lloyd was killed on the spot. No apology from the Americans was forthcoming. It was “an accident of war,” one more example of “friendly fire.” But when Israel mistakenly killed those aid workers, it was a “war crime.”
Israel has now apologized for the human error. It has completed its own investigation, and has dismissed the two officers involved in the mistaken killing of the aid workers. What happened is this. An IDF drone detected the three-vehicle convoy as it just started out, in pitch-black conditions. It then detected the figure of a man who mounted the first vehicle, and fired a shot into the air. This is what Hamas operatives are known to do to signal the start of a mission. The drone did not make out the WCK logo, which was the size of a dinner plate and was affixed to the roof of only one of the three vehicles. But what was most telling, and has not been mentioned much in the mainstream media, is that the drone’s infrared camera could not detect the logo. Now the IDF will require all aid vehicles to use a sticker that can be identified by infrared cameras. It is not clear what would prevent Hamas terrorists from stealing the stickers or using similar ones to hide. None of these important facts explaining the IDF’s misidentification of the aid vehicles appears to have made much of an impression; the media, and many political leaders, are dead-set on denouncing Israel for what far too many people, including WCK head José Andrés, and the parents of one of the aid workers killed, Jack Finkinger, so unjustly describe as a “deliberate killing.”
That charge is absurd. Israel has no reason in the world to kill aid workers, but every reason to want to keep them, and all the other civilians in Gaza, alive. That’s why it warns civilians away from every building — schools, mosques, apartment buildings, hospitals that Hamas has turned into fortresses — that it is about to target. That’s why it drops millions of leaflets, sends millions of messages, makes millions of phone calls: to save the lives of as many civilians as it can.
Israel, it seems, will always be in the dock of a worldwide kangaroo court. No wonder Richard Littlejohn is furious. So am I and, I hope, so are you.

And, of course, he’s right. It is the height of hypocrisy.
When the planes were directed into the Towers and the Pentagon, all of the mozlum terrorists on board, and the ones who were flying the plane that nosedived into the field, were killed along with their victims.
But, bush promised….and the crowd cheered…to ‘go and smoke them out of the caves and bring the perps to justice.’
The actual perps committing the mass murders were all dead. But the nation wanted the ones behind the terrorism…those aiding, planning, funding, directing, the perps who flew the planes…to be brought to justice.
In a different place and time, mozlum terrorists sneaked in, raped, murdered, tortured, mutilated and kidnapped innocent Israelis….most of them young people. And the perps….the majority of them….fled back to their ‘caves and holes’ unharmed by their foul, demonic actions.
Should not Israel be allowed to “bring them to justice”? Those who took an active part and those who planned, funded, directed, and aided them….every last one of them…should be ‘brought to justice.’

Ab-ass has declared once again that he will never recognise the State of Israel. These are the kind of ‘moderates’ that idiots like Biden and Blinken et al. think can form a democratic government for Gaza.

Good posts, Somehistory and Bill.
But Bill, it is even worse than Biden and Blinken considering the appalling Fatah to be “moderates”–they want Israel to pull out of Gaza *now* and for them to negotiate with Hamas instead of destroying them as a political force–the very Jihad terror group that broke a truce with Israel and kidnapped, raped, and murdered Israelis on 10/7–and who are *still* holding Israelis hostage.
Kosh's Shadow says
The biggest piece of evidence that Israel is not “committing genocide” is that if Israel were, there would be few “Palestinians” left in Gaza, if any.
As for the WCK aid convoy, Israel and WCK tried to contact them, but failed. I think Hamas set them up as targets.

For the life of me I cannot understand why everyone blamesIsrael for defending itself. Rather they shoulkd be lining up to give Israel mountains of aid. And the United States a world leader, pah¡¡ The Jewish community has always been a loyal and valuable part of our society The Muslem community has by and large shown disloyalty and disrespect for our society. Imans (IMuslem clerics) get up on a pulpit and denounce one of the most loyal parts of ourf society, and they get by with it. KEN

Didn’t Hamas and Israel have an “permanent” cease-fire before October 7, 2023, when Hamas violated the cease-fire in the worst possible way?
I’ll bet you that if there were another cease-fire, Hamas would wait up to 10 years, as Mohamed did, to regroup and attack Israel again.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
Mohammad’s agreement with the Meccans for a truce was to last ten years. Instead, it lasted 18 months, after which, sensing that his side was now stronger, Mohammad attacked.

Yes. Every single non-Islamic entity world-wide – whether state or non-state – needs to learn that principle by heart: that NO agreement with ANY mohammedan entity (state or non-state) can or should be trusted.
A corollary – which all non-Islamic military commanders at any level, as well as their heads of state, need to grimly understand – is that if one is at war with mohammedans, and the mohammedan side sues for a ceasefire/ proposes a truce/ treaty, whatever, the non-Islamic side should – if they possibly can, unless they themselves for their own reasons feel they need a brief and wary timeout – take this as a cue to pile on and hit harder and keep on hitting until the mohammedans are totally flattened!

Historically people impressed, drafted, or otherwise forced to serve in the military are just as legitimate to kill as the volunteers. They are all military. In the case of civilians “drafted” to use as human shields, I feel sorry for them;but, they ARE a de facto part of the military apparatus subject to the same probability of deadly fire as any weapon equipped member of the military. These unwilling participants were simply unlucky enough to be drafted as human shields.
As for the WCK people, they volunteered to go into a very dangerous location, at night with very limited vision, fire guns in the air to notify their team where they were, and they died. They lined up too many holes in their life’s swisscheese of protections. They paid the fool’s price.

Israel needs to destroy Hamas period. Leaving them intact will result in future attacks on Israels citizens. Yes war is deadly and ugly, but allowing Hamas to regroup and feeding your enemy population is suicide.
dumbledoresarmy says
Yes. And it isn’t just Hamas; it is the rest of the alphabet soup of jihad outfits, such as Islamic Jihad… all of which continually crystallise naturally and organically out of the sheltering, nurturing ‘sea’ that is the Mohammedan mob.
And Israel needs to restore ‘darura’ – deterrence – bigtime. The Ummah is huge – 1.2 billion people, ALL of who are – to varying degrees – pickled in the Jew-hatred that is hard-wired into the mohammedan belief-system. The nearby manifestations of the Ummah – the local Islamic arab states, along with Islamic Iran and Islamic Turkey (which being non-Arab Muslims, suffer from an inferiority complex that leads them to try to be more-Islamic-than-thou) – all need the object lesson: mess with Israel and you get HAMMERED.

Yes–if Israel pulls out now, this will just embolden Jihadists–including Hamas itself. of course.

Littlejohn is of course correct. Kudos to him for speaking the truth.
Littlejohn has some excellent books, including ones on topics like the right to defend yourself against violence and that children used to be able to play outside. I have not read everything of his but what I have read is very good..
