Despite numerous threats, and a new one for Ramadan repeated at the end of this Arab News article, we haven’t seen Al-Qaeda pulling off a major operation on US soil since 9/11.
Thank God; but complacency would be dangerous. Eight years elapsed between the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the successful 2001 attack. And now the chief of the UN’s Sanctions Committee says that the group has “‘adapted and become more dangerous’ in the face of the UN’s sanctions against the organization and the Taleban, the hard-liners who ruled Afghanistan until a US war ousted them in 2001.”
Also remember: Al-Qaeda is by no means the only radical Muslim terror group operating around the world today.
