Here are some of the things Daisy Khan, the wife of Ground Zero mega-mosque leader Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, says on this Washington Post video (thanks to Pamela Geller).
She first mentions the fact that the Burlington Coat Factory building was hit by part of one of the hijacked planes on 9/11 as if it were a random accident involving a random plane:
So just to meet the needs of the people’s, you know, worship needs, we decided to look for a larger building. And actually, the building found us, because it’s been abandoned for the last nine years. Just sort of sitting vacant. It was struck by a plane, a piece of the fuselage fell into the building, and it was shut down since then. And it’s been vacant for nine years.
Then, after being asked if the building had been chosen deliberately because of its proximity to the World Trade Center site, Khan says that she sees a divine hand in how the building “came to us” — so apparently Allah knocked down the World Trade Center towers and flew a bit of one of the planes into the Burlington Coat Factory building so that this mosque could be built:
I think the building came to us, which goes to show that there is a symbolism there, and that there’s a divine hand in it. That it’s so close to the tragedy, that its close proximity is very symbolic for the fact that we really want to reverse what happened on 9/11.
Also:
We were expecting some sort of, um, you know, resistance, but not an organized resistance. We were expecting that some families might need some hand-holding, we might want to speak to them. But what we did not expect is a national coalition of people coming together, the majority of them coming from outside New York. Pamela Geller is a lady, and Robert Spencer — together the two of them have formed something called Stop Islamization of America, and that is the group that is leading this.
Yes, it is. And we are not giving up.
