Israeli judoka Tal Flicker scaled the top of the podium and received his gold medal on Thursday, but the Israel national anthem was not played and the blue-and-white flag was not raised in Abu Dhabi.
Another case of the racism and Islamic anti-Semitism that is ubiquitous; only this one is high profile, on the global stage in a sport. One cannot begin to imagine the outcry if such discrimination were aimed at a Muslim in the West, but it is tolerated against a Jew in a Muslim country.
For more cases of Islamic anti-Semitism, see here.
For those who may have forgotten, PA leader Mahmood Abbas once declared his vision for a Palestinian state: “’In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli — civilian or soldier — on our lands.” But it’s Israel that gets labelled an apartheid state.
WATCH-DISGRACEFUL.
ISRAELI Tal Flicker presented with his gold medal at #JudoAbuDhabi2017 without Israeli anthem or flag. Nice to see Tal singing something and I’m guessing it’s the #Hatikvah@Ostrov_A pic.twitter.com/RzwGdn0Bh8— SussexFriendsIsrael (@SussexFriends) October 26, 2017
“Deprived of Flag and Anthem, Israeli Judoka Wins Gold in Abu Dhabi,” by Allon Sinai, Jerusalem Post, October 26, 2017:
Israeli judoka Tal Flicker scaled the top of the podium and received his gold medal on Thursday, but the Israel national anthem was not played and the blue-and-white flag was not raised in Abu Dhabi.
The 25-year-old won the under-66 kilogram category competition at the Abu Dhabi judo Grand Slam on Thursday, but he had to do so under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF), with the event organizers refusing to allow Israelis to compete under their country’s flag.
The organizers claimed that, due to security reasons, the Israelis can’t have their flag on their judo uniform and instead of having ISR (Israel) by their names on the scoreboard and on their backs, they would have to take part as representatives of the IJF. For the same reason, they explained that should an Israeli win a gold medal the national anthem, Hatikva, would not be played.
The delegation, numbering 12 athletes, arrived in Abu Dhabi via Amman, Jordan, Tuesday, a day later than scheduled. The judokas waited for seven hours at Ben-Gurion Airport on Monday, only to return home frustrated after being told that they can’t pick up their visas in Istanbul, Turkey, as they were initially told.
International Judo Federation president Marius Vizer sent a letter to the organizers on Monday demanding that “the Israeli delegation shall be treated absolutely equally in all aspects.”
Vizer wrote in his letter that the IJF Statutes “clearly provide that the IJF shall not discriminate on the ground of race, religion, gender or political opinion.”……

These Arabs are more than just LOSERS. Looking from the Pacific, the Arabs will always something and anything from Israel. Israel really need to think about what it gives to the MEAN AND SELFISH ARABS, ESPECIALLY THE MUSLIMS ARABS. I SAY THAT NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM THE MUSLIM ARABS AND THAT IS FOR SURE.
butros says
its time to ban the muslims from everything, they are too backward to include in our civilization and lands.
jewdog says
Abu Dhabi is by far the most moderate Arab country. I imagine that if they did allow Israeli national symbolism to be displayed that there would be a coup d’état and heads would roll, literally. After all, the Arabs didn’t conquer all those lands by being accommodating.
I wonder about leftists says
There should not have been any podium when the Israeli would not get his podium for the gold medal..Marius Vizer should have stopped it right away and not when it is all over.
It’s all coming to an end stadium, slowly but surely, 2018 will be quite a year.

Tal Flicker should take pride in knowing that he beat all comers, including the hatred and discrimination of muslims, to become a champion in a hostile environment.
A true champion he then sings out loud his anthem ignoring the hatred that surrounds him from all sides.
Losers are those who fail to recognize when they are soundly and fairly beaten and champions are those who stand in the face of adversity.

Well said Tom! It took a lot of strength to sing alone while the music blared – very moving. He is a true champion!!!

That’s why muslim and arab countries shouldn’t be allowed to host any international tournaments, competitions, exhibitions or conferences. Imagine if some country banned a filthy muslim from displaying his filthy flag in any international tournament. CNN, the UN, the righteous leftists and every NGO in the plaet would be raising h3ll at this “racist behavior”. Why then do Jews and Israelis have to take this crap?

Thank you Tal Flicker, for showing the world exactly what it means to be a Jew! You fill our eyes with tears, and our hearts with joy!

Yet another perceived humiliation of Muslims. Jews do EVERYTHING better than Muslims. And the reaction of this international organization is not at all surprising; take the side of Muslims. The downward spiral continues unhindered, unquestioned and unreported as does the unethical, immoral and criminal
behavior of the followers of Muhammad

The field of sport is supposed to leave national hostilities aside.
If a country can’t provide equality for all competitors, then they should NEVER be allowed to host such events.
utis says
Let’s face it: like “good,” “evil,” “pure,” etc., “sportsmanship” just doesn’t mean the same thing to muslim minds that it does to the rest of the world.

They are nazi’s.
Imagine if the West did not display the flag of a muslim country?
Imagine if someone said that the leader of their religion said it was okay to kill muslim children?
Can’t you hear the liberal news media uproar rising to a feverish pitch already?!
All the labels and names they would be hurling around?
Uh-huh.
But over things in the other direction, not a peep!

That sportscasters let the events happen in silence, not making a single commentary on the injustice of it. Despicable.

Abu Dhabi: Muslims won’t play Israeli anthem or show flag as Israeli judoka wins gold, so he sings “Hatikvah” on podium
………………….
Bravo, Tal Flicker!
Peterson says
Simple solution. No such events should happen in Arab countries. If any international events to happen they should agree to all such conditions beforehand even if Israel is not involved in such events. The FIFA is supposed to be in Qatar. The organizers should chase them with a list that Qatar has to fulfill.
Karen says
Yes. If they can’t provide decent security for all the participants, then they cannot be allowed to host the event. When you think about it, making the Israelis complete under the IJF flag and logo was like pinning a yellow star on them.
Michael says
Adu Dhabi is a racist apartheid state. They should not be allowed to host any international events.

; As usual, Muhammadans, a.k.a., Social Justice Warriors, Liberals, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter, are envious of the accomplishments of others, and their only talent is destroying, or blocking, the accomplishments of talented people.
Although I’m not a friend of Israel, I’m a friend of Jews, and I already learned, during my childhood, the harsh lessons after what happened to Israeli athletes at the hands of “Black September” at the 1972 Olympics. Between that, and “Not Without My Daughter”, that is all one needs to know about the insanity of Muhammadanism
Ann Vaccaro says
God Bless Tal Flicker!
Karen says
Good for you Tal Flicker! I think you have prevailed in more than one way, while remaining a polite and gracious *winner*.
Obviously, the organizers could not stand to see the Israeli flag rise above the Islamic symbols of some of the other flags. But everyone who saw that ceremony knows in their heart that it did in actuality, if not visually. Childish – this is a Judo competition, not a contest for the best religion or culture. The organizers denied Mr. Flicker full participation and were very inhospitable. I hope the people of Abu Dhabi were offended by this lack of courtesy.
Tal Flicker, a small but heartfelt gesture; I went to YouTube this morning, and played your national anthem. (It’s very beautiful.)

I always ask why Israeli Athletes insist on going to countries where they know Jews and Israel are despised, They go play soccer in European matches and nearly get Anti Semitic taunts. Stay home if this is the kind of reception you have been getting in all sports fields in all countries infested with Muslims.
So you wont win any trophy’s, you wont have your picture in the paper. But you self respect and dignity is worth far more then anything else. Bunch of masochists it seems.

Someone with some good computer skills needs to Photoshop the flag and the music over this and s@$# and we should repost and send to the world. Please go and do it!!!!
