“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough “has called out the double standards of American politicians, stating that they only care about violence when the attacker is somehow connected to Islam.” He stated:
If a guy named Mohammad blew up that church yesterday, oh my God. Oh, my God. This morning, Washington would be on fire.
It is disheartening when public figures who have influence feed into black and white, simplistic thinking. It adds to the real difficulties of battling three separate issues:
1. The global war on jihad and jihadi terror.
2. Psych0-social problems in society which can lead to tragedies such as suicide and even mass murder, as is apparent in the Texas rampage.
3. Racism and intolerance.
Instead, these issues are jumbled together, as if there were no differences between them, when those differences should be abundantly clear to anyone and should be treated as such.
Scarborough and many like him think “US leaders only care if attackers are named Mohammad,” and therefore are only willing to label jihad attacks acts of “terrorism.”
This is a wrong and callous accusation of intolerance and “racism” against Muslims, fanning and fueling propaganda about “Islamophobia.” It is also a false accusation that those who are serious about fighting the massive scourge of global jihad are limited to caring only about it, and about no other atrocities.
Most American leaders — and likewise counter jihadists — are horrified about what happened in the Texas church, and are deeply concerned about the families of the people who were murdered, as well as about the victims who are recovering, and about the post-traumatic stress that may be suffered by those who have been through this rampage. This massacre should lead to an increase of efforts to deal with the various psychological and social ills that plague societies; Scarborough, however, is just playing to his base and trying to score cheap political points by conflating this attack with jihad attacks. What happened in Texas is a terror-inducing experience, but it is still very different from jihad terror.
Business Insider explains the difference between mass murder and jihad terror, for those who have problems with seeing the distinction.
The agency (FBI) uses a definition of terrorism that includes acts “inspired by or associated with” known international terrorist organizations, or in the case of domestic incidents, acts that were “inspired by or associated with primarily US-based movements that espouse extremist ideologies of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature”….
That definition appears to exclude incidents like Sunday’s church shooting.
Jihadists everywhere are thankful to “Morning Joe” for confusing the discourse and detracting from the laser focus that is needed to deal with escalating jihad terror and the aspects of Sharia that are at odds with Western principles of equality and freedom for all.
“US leaders only care if attackers are named Mohammad, TV host says”, by Jason Lemon, Step Feed, November 7, 2017:
An American TV host has called out the double standards of American politicians, stating that they only care about violence when the attacker is somehow connected to Islam.
Despite a startling number of mass shootings in the United States, often perpetrated by white men, many American politicians continue to brush the problem aside.
However, whenever an attack is carried out by an individual associated with Islamist terrorists, politicians are quick to condemn and call for drastic action.
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough is fed up with the blatant double standards, particularly in the wake of a mass shooting at a Texas church on Sunday, which was perpetrated by a white man named Devin Patrick Kelley and left 26 dead and some 20 injured.
“If a guy named Mohammad blew up that church yesterday, oh my God. Oh, my God. This morning, Washington would be on fire,” Scarborough pointed out. “All we get is ‘let’s pray. I feel real bad,'” he said.
Scarborough went on to call out U.S. President Donald Trump, who was quick to tweet out a fiery response after Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov carried out an attack in New York last week. Saipov allegedly supported the so-called Islamic State (or Daesh).
Although the death toll in Saipov’s attack was significantly lower than that carried out by Kelley, Trump had a calm response and blamed the attack on mental health issues.
Scarborough continued by saying that Americans “wouldn’t put up with this or with any other epidemic.”….

Joe is proactively saying that if it were a Muslim triumphantly yelling Allahu Akbar (my god is greater than your god) that blows up a church that it has nothing to do with Islam, because he is not a hater like those blasphemers (Islamophobes) who need to be outed and killed.

Appears to me that America is, for the most part, “putting up” with Jihad terror. Joe is an idiot, I wouldn’t trust him to mow my lawn.

Apparently, “Morning Joe” has already forgotten that one week earlier a Muslim did commit mass murder in lower Manhattan. Washington wasn’t “on fire” following that jihad murder spree. He is merely attempting to further the “islamophobia” narrative against anyone who would speak out against that particular evil ideology.
Carolyne says
My opinion is directly opposite of “Morning Joe’s” Muslim attacks disappear from the front page in a couple of days, but this Texas story is still front page news after ten days. Muslim atrocities fade from the mind of MSM as fast as possible, while non-Muslim atrocities linger on.

Joe Scarborough compares apples and oranges and ends with pineapples.
There is no comparison between the DIVINE COMMAND OF JIHAD AGAINST DISBELIEVERS ‘in the cause of Allah’ with a delusional, depressed person acting on emotional impulse.
The jihadist is doing the WORK OF ALLAH heavily supported in all Islamic literature and especially well-taught in our day by leading Muslim preachers who speak persuasively about the DUTY TO CONDUCT WARFARE AGAINST DISBELIEVERS.
The soldiers of Allah as committed (and more committed) than Hitler’s Wehrmacht and SS soldiers. Were millions of German soldiers ‘insane’ in WWII?? Some writers argue a form of mass hysteria. Something similar is going on in Islam, but jihadists are generally NOT ‘INSANE’. They firmly believe in Islam and its VIOLENT COMMANDS.

Stop using this for gun control agenda!! It is disgusting how the left uses tragedies to suit their own causes!! I feel for the families of these poor people that lost their lives to this mentally deranged person! And to turn this around for their own personal Reasons is sad.

Yes–and it is absolute rot that this story is receiving no attention. It is, in fact, all over the news as a major story.

Mo says
“An American TV host has called out the double standards of American politicians, stating that they only care about violence when the attacker is somehow connected to Islam.”
Gee, maybe because so many of the attacks we’ve seen around the world of late have been by Muslims? Maybe because Islam is the only religion that I’m aware of that teaches its followers to commit violence against unbelievers? (And even against fellow adherents whom they deem not sufficiently devout.)
Funny how they also ignore the fact that in this particular case, the murderer apparently was a militant atheist. (I bet all these so-called journalists were just HOPING he had been a member of the church and/or claimed to be a Christian. If he had, we’d NEVER hear the end of that. Alas, I am sure they were disappointed.) But I digress.
One thing that’s puzzled me about this particular event. All of a sudden all these leftists in media and entertainment are up in arms about the line, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.” Don’t we hear this ALL the time from reporters, celebrities, and politicians whenever there’s a major tragedy, whether man made or natural? Why, all of a sudden, are they upset about it? I’m hearing it everywhere.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not a fan of this saying either. Most of the time, it’s meaningless. Thinking about someone doesn’t do anything for them. And most people these days are secular and therefore don’t pray, or even believe in such things. But I appreciate the sentiment. Words do fail us in these situations. I suppose it helps to have a quick, kind phrase to offer, just as an expression of basic human decency and compassion. So while I don’t care for it, I’m not going to condemn it the way these news people and celebrities are doing now.
It especially grates on me when it comes from those very same leftists who the rest of the time are mocking religion (except Islam, of course) any chance they get. Still, they always said it. Now, all of a sudden it’s not only the wrong thing to say, it’s somehow evil? What did I miss?
Ugh, leftists. I swear, I cannot understand them.
Kay says
The first report I heard said he “offered to lead Bible study.” That of course went nowhere. I agree: leftists would have had a field had had he claimed to be Christian.
I guess I’m in the dark. Who’s against saying “our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.”? On what grounds are they against it?
Wyldeirishman says
Wil Wheaton immediately springs to mind
After his hot-take tweet immediately following the breaking news of the shooting, he went out of his way to point out that the victims were in a church, so prayer availed them naught (as well as slinging vulgarity towards a politician who offered prayers for those affected).
While this most obviously feeds into a false pagan notion of what prayer is (or ought to be), it also further solidifies Wheaton’s own position as a twit who violates his own “be nice to others” mantra.
Shut UP, Wesley.
gravenimage says
I hadn’t heard that he was taunting the victims. Nasty stuff.
Naildriver says
Indeed, there are clear differences that mainstream media would obfuscate for their overall message of inclusion, immigration and anti-white male rhetoric. It is useful for the left to see a resurgence of the KKK and white supremacist groups — and then out comes the broad brush and bravura they can sell, and that all simple minded people love, which sadly is most the population. (That’s one of the reasons we live in a federal republic that deserves to be valued more for its representatives than its voters. For example; Thank God unpopular Trump is our representative rather than popular Hillary.)
Islam is our enemy, not because of terrorism but because of its all encompassing imperative to rule the populations it dominates and ruthlessly suppress any opposition. Islam is a tyranny.
eduardo odraude says
Can’t stand Scarborough. On his show he always pretends to be having a dialog with his guests, but somehow whenever he “asks a question” of one of them, the question goes on and on and turns into a speech, and the person asked the question then gets to speak only for a few seconds. Scarborough always ends up doing most of the talking. He makes the show all about himself, and given what he has to offer, that’s not warranted and makes him seem obtusely narcissistic.
R Russell says
He has forgotten to state that the worldview of murderers is what leads them to kill.
A ‘guy called Mohammed’ has the worldview that the infidel has to be killed and then kills.
This gunman had the worldview that all Christians are stupid. He acted out his worldview by killing them.
The underlying reason for the murders is hate.

This is complete BS.
After every islamist attack, the first response is always ‘mental illness’ – it’s actually a running joke here on JW – so now the media get annoyed because this time it may actually be true.
Could it be that mental illness is now a protected condition for muslims only?
Voytek Gagalka says
“…This morning, Washington would be on fire,”
False! What Washington would be on fire and for how long? Let me assure you that before blood of victims will even dry out, those “Washington circles” with “Morning Joe” will quickly do everything in their power to degrade an event, refusing to call it jihad terror and play their usual “Muslim the victim” card, plus engaging with elaborate lengthy “analysis” explaining how “Allahu Akbar” is just innocent part of “prayer,” nothing to worry about.
gravenimage says
I think by “on fire”, the ludicrously hyperbolic Joe Scarborough just meant that people in the nation’s capital would be talking heatedly about it–which is exactly the case with this mass shooting in Texas.
eduardo odraude says
Scarborough seems to be saying it’s hypocritical on the one hand to not demand increased gun control after lunatic massacres yet on the other hand sound the alarm after Islamic jihad attacks. But whatever you think about those two issues, they are different, and it makes no sense for Scarborough to conflate them as if the reaction to one should be the same as the reaction to the other.
eduardo odraude says
Instead of calling his show “Morning Joe” — as if it were coffee that wakes you up — it should be called “Morning Emetic.”
eduardo odraude says
Another key point Morning Emetic Joe misses: if the church massacre had been by a Muslim, an even louder uproar would have been completely justified, because of something that Joe is evidently ignorant of or more likely just doesn’t much care about: the oppression, murder, rape, and destruction of Christians in many parts of the Muslim world right now. When I recall that, it really puts “Joe’s” negligence in proper perspective.
Westman says
Well, Joe, some men having some of the 99 names of Muhammad or his companions, will blow up both Christian churches and Mosques – and already have in other countries. it’s just a matter of time before it happens here in the US – have you forgotten 9/11?
It will interesting to hear what you say when it happens; likely with the same misdirection as your explanation of why Hillary lost.
The Dems lost because they ran a cold fish wrapped in teddy bear image contact paper. She started her political career as a student speaker – criticising the main speaker of her own commencement – and finishing by not personally speaking gratitude to her campaign workers who were left standing, alone, after her private concession to Trump. She was the personification of leftist, supremist, media and the left – entitlement without gratitude.
And that is exactly why we are resistant to uncontrolled migration from Muslim countries – we see, in Europe, the clear demonstration of the expectation of entitlements by “refugees” coupled with their rejection of the very unbelievers who are taxed for those unearned entitlements. And there is this little problem that Islam instructs them to absorb all countries by dawa or force.
The ultimate ingrates are the jihadists, and the left is feeding them as if they were cute baby rattlers that won’t grow up to be killers.

[Politicians] “only care about violence when the attacker is somehow connected to Islam.” –
When violence is connected to Islam it is painstakingly clear that it is a political issue obligated to concern politicians because of its organizational nature. That was not the case with the church shootings in Texas.

Gee, maybe because 98% of the time in the world it IS THE MUSLIMS blowing up the church STUPID! The only time that the media will immediately give out the shooters/bombers name is when its not a Muslim! Ergo that’s why the media drops coverage of a story almost immediately after its reported, if ISLAM is involved in some way or shape. That’s even if it’s reported at all (there are attacks by Muslims occurring all over the globe that we never hear about from MSM).
