John Miller, NYPD deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism, said: “We did extensive outreach to the truck rental business. We visited over 148 truck rental locations in this area. The industry has had a high level of awareness on this matter from the NYPD.” And “Miller said that if a company is suspicious of a would-be renter, they usually delay or simply deny a rental to let police investigate.”
Really? The companies deny rentals to suspicious characters? Is that so?
Here’s Sayfullo Saipov, the New York City truck jihad mass murderer:
Does he look like he could be a jihad terrorist? Certainly. But to acknowledge that would be to engage in racial profiling, and given the decidedly Islamic style of his facial hair (a hadith depicts Muhammad telling Muslims to trim their mustaches but not their beards, because the Jews and Christians trim their beards but not their mustaches), religious profiling, a manifestation of “Islamophobia,” as well.
Imagine now that you were the clerk at Home Depot when Saipov came in to rent his truck. You notice his beard, his demeanor, his overall appearance. The vehicular jihad attacks in London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Nice, Jerusalem, Ohio State University and so many other places flash across your mind. It occurs to you that the man standing before you wanting to rent a truck could be intending to mow down non-Muslim pedestrians with it. You may even have heard about the Islamic State’s directive to Muslims to use, for vehicular jihad attacks, exactly the kind of truck that Saipov wants to rent.
But then you stop yourself. You admonish your inner voice. “You can’t think this way,” you tell yourself. It’s racist. It’s bigoted. It’s Islamophobic. Just because this fellow looks like a jihadi doesn’t mean that he is one. So what if he is devout and observant in Islam; hundreds of millions of people who will never be terrorists are as well. You’ve got to fight this Islamophobia in your heart.”
You watch as Saipov fills out the forms. You run his credit card through the system. You imagine what would happen if you did deny him a rental: tomorrow the Council on American-Islamic Relations would be there, complaining about Islamophobia in Home Depot. Your face would be on NY1, CNN, MSNBC. You might even make the front page of the New York Times: “Home Depot Clerk Denies Service to Man Because He Was Muslim.”
You can see it all, like a dying man seeing his life flash before his eyes. You wouldn’t just lose your job. You’d lose your name, your reputation, maybe even your chances for future employment anywhere. You’d be known and hated nationwide as an “Islamophobe.”
You opt for self-preservation. You rent Saipov his truck.
A farfetched scenario? Hardly. The Fort Hood jihad mass murderer Nidal Hasan frightened his coworkers with his jihad talk, but his superiors didn’t investigate or reprimand him, they promoted him. They didn’t want “Islamophobia in the Military” exposés with their names on them. The neighbors of the San Bernardino jihad murderers saw all kinds of suspicious activity at the murderous couple’s house, but didn’t call the police: they were afraid of being seen as racially profiling the couple. The Fort Dix jihad massacre plot was foiled by a young man who found out about it but at first hesitated to call police for fear of being “racist.”
This is the fruit of the “Islamophobia” propaganda that has been pounded into Americans on a daily basis for years now. People are afraid to “say something” if they “see something,” for fear of the ostracism and career ruin that charges of “Islamophobia” could bring. That is the focus of my new book Confessions of an Islamophobe, which details the full cost of this propaganda initiative: the cost to women, gays, Jews, Christians, secular liberals, secular Muslims, and others. Eight are dead in New York because of the fear of “Islamophobia.” How many more must die before we discard this propaganda straitjacket? Preorder your copy of Confessions of an Islamophobe here now.
“New York terror suspect planned attack for weeks, police say,” by Nicole Chavez and Holly Yan, CNN, November 1, 2017:
…Since 2014, there have been 15 vehicular attacks in the West by jihadist terrorists, killing 142 people, according to a count by New America, a nonpartisan research institution. Those figures include Tuesday’s attack in Manhattan.
For the past few years, New York police have reached out to vehicle rental businesses to warn them about possible terror threats.
“We did extensive outreach to the truck rental business. We visited over 148 truck rental locations in this area,” said John Miller, NYPD deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism. “The industry has had a high level of awareness on this matter from the NYPD.”
Miller said that if a company is suspicious of a would-be renter, they usually delay or simply deny a rental to let police investigate.
In Tuesday’s incident, the suspect drove a Home Depot rental truck he drove from New Jersey, Miller said.
A spokesman for Home Depot confirmed one of the company’s rental trucks was part of an incident in lower Manhattan and said the company is “cooperating with authorities” in the investigation….

Wake up America. This is the sole reason why Trump doesn’t want them in the country. I don’t blame him because here in Canada our Leader is such a friendly inviter. He doesn’t realize that he is opening a pandorahs box doing what he’s doing.
Frank Anderson says
Bryan M, nobody can be that stupid. HE KNOWS what he is doing and wants evil to take over. In US criminal law there is a concept of “universal malice”. The original case discussed in law school involved a man who shot at a railroad passenger car, killing a passenger. He was charged with murder and argued that he didn’t intend to kill “that” person. The prosecution argued that the killer was engaging in an activity with full knowledge that death could be the result, and was entirely indifferent to who he could injure or what injury he could inflict when he pulled that trigger. The accused was convicted of murder.
In suits for damages (civil suits), again in the US, “gross negligence”, “wantonness” and other terms follow the criminal theory of universal malice: engaging in dangerous conduct knowing full well that it is dangerous, with indifference to who is injured or what injury is inflicted. Now where can those who import millions of dangerous people, who pray multiple times a day to murder, enslave and control all who do not follow them to their satisfaction, be excused for their sell out of civilized society?
It is entirely possible that the first case about the railroad passenger may have been in another common law country. I don’t remember. In any event it is, in my opinion, likely that a similar concept appears in the law of other countries. A currently licensed and practicing attorney in other jurisdictions could be helpful.

Home Depot rents trucks solely to allow a customer to self-deliver the goods purchased at Home Depot,
If this Islamic did not purchase anything from Home Depot, the rental sure would sound strange.
Hopefully, the FBI will follow on this thought process.
Ashley says
I just called our local Home Depot. No purchase necessary.

Wow, great point. Maybe he has a friend working at Home Depot who assisted him.
Milo says
Okay then, we can scratch his being assisted.

Actually, I have friends who rented a Home Depot truck to move from one apartment to another here in Oakland. They assured the rental guy that they would be patronizing Home Depot after their move; he said that was nice, but assured them that it was not necessary.
Even if it were, though I’m sure Jihadists would just buy some large item–probably with a stolen credit card–and go on to use the truck for Jihad. This would not ultimately be much of a safeguard.
And there is still U-Haul and Ryder and the small independents. There are always people who need to rent trucks for legitimate purposes.
This is another case of Jihadists taking advantage of this being an open society.
Michael Copeland says
Could someone make a Freedom of Information request to find out how many referrals to Police there have been concerning suspect truck-hire applicants?
It is likely to be zero.

If you make it nearly impossible for a Muslim to rent a car, they will easily change their tactics. I can imagine several alternative simple nighmarish scenarios, that I wont disclose here, in case they use them to kill hundreds of innocent civilians.
Unless we state the obvious, Islam is evil and each kid in the school learns like that – heck we teach kids KKK are evil, why not Islam? Islam has a continuous history of evil doings. I don’t think they ever departed from that. Why can’t this fact be taught to each kid in our classrooms?
salim says
Yes they change their tactics. As with most things in life, the easiest and cheapest way to abolish Islamic terrorism is to confront it straight on, just as you Americans would have done a century ago. Any other way is not going to work.
gravenimage says
They would use “non-Muslim looking” Muslim associates to rent the vehicle, or they would pay some dhimmi idiot to do it. They would buy used trucks outright, or they would hot-wire trucks stolen from construction sites (this last has been done in Israel several times). That’s just off the top of my head–I’m sure there are other possibilities, as well.
But the fact is that they will probably not have to resort to these tactics, because rental clerks will be too concerned about being considered “Islamophobic” to balk at renting to even obvious Jihadists.
Joe says
Yeah, trucks are not the problem; the ideology of the driver is the problem.
Benedict says
“What would have happened if Home Depot had refused to rent a truck to Sayfullo Saipov?” –
They would have saved 8 lives and 11 people from injuries.
Westman says
One wonders, why was this Islamic terrorist unable to get a job as a truck driver?
Even though his appearance would stop any non-muslim from being hired, it’s likely that his driving record was questionable and could have served as a legitimate reason to deny the truck rental – if Home Depot required a check on driving records. I’ve rented trucks in the past, and never has my driving record been checked.
If I see anyone with one of these “duck dynasty” beards, particularly, dyed red, I’ll be watching closely.
vyx says
Yes… but the cries of DISCRIMINATION and RACISM (even though islam is not a race) would have been deafening. It would have triggered a lawsuit that could potentially have destroyed Home Depot..
That being said, you have to give the muslims credit. They’ve created a clever catch 22.
Sell/ rent to muslims? Risk being tangentially involved in a crime.
Don’t sell/rent to muslims? Risk being the victim of a massive lawsuit and/or jail time, depending on your country of origin.
The interesting thing in all of this is that no matter what muslims do, Democrats still support them.
They don’t pay taxes, they don’t support the Democrat party, but Democrats are OK with other Democrats literally DYING for Islam. Why?
Jimdandi says
The perp would have returned and shot the Home Depot clerk, no doubt.
Ashley says
Just a thought…
The Muslim population in Passaic County, NJ (which is home to Patterson) is HUGE. Why is there an assumption that the truck rental agent isn’t Muslim? Hell, the rental agent may have been on to Saipov’s intentions.
gravenimage says
He *might* have been Muslim, Ashley. Just statistically though, he probably was an Infidel–I’ve certainly never seen an obvious Muslim working at Home Depot or any other hardware store. He was more likely an Infidel who was either inattentive, clueless, or concerned about appearing “Islamophobic”.
Ashley says
Passaic County boasts some 25K Muslims.
I don’t think it is a reach to entertain that the Home Depot truck rental clerk made damn sure Saipov secured a truck rental.
gravenimage says
Could be, Ashley. I know that the Muslim invasion has been particularly bad in parts of New Jersey.
vyx says
Or afraid to lose his job.
Can company policy deny a rental with proper credentials? I doubt it.
If he didn’t rent, he would have suffered consequences.
PATRICIA FRANCES KOENIG says
If the Home Depot clerk had refused to rent a truck to that Muslim Jihadi…then the clerk’s life would have been over…and no one would know that he would have saved 8 lives.
gravenimage says
I would not go so far as to say that this life would be over–but yes, he might have been disciplined or even fired. He might have a hard time finding another job.
The story might have gotten out, and Home Depot been dragged through the courts and have to institute anti-Islamophobia training.
And yes–no one would know that lives had been saved.
All of this is very grim.
Flavius Claudius Iulianus says
Yeah. And is it worth it for minimum wage?

Sorry, I don’t buy the idea that if Home Depot hadn’t rented the truck to he jihadist that the guy would have said to himself “Well, I guess Allah doesn’t want me to do this thing. I’ll just give up.”
He would have found some other way – maybe an even more deadly way. Maybe one that involved a Home Depot full of customers during a big sale.

gravenimage says
*Very* disturbing, Ashley. Thanks for the link.
R Russell says
What ifs never solve problems.
He would have got one elsewhere or found some other way to carry out his crimes.
Time to plan how to stop it happening again – like traffic calming methods including chicanes.
gravenimage says
“Traffic calming”? Really? Firstly, a Jihadist is not a common speeder–they will not be daunted by little traffic bumps.
Secondly, this is yet another demand that we change our way of life to accommodate Jihadist Muslims–instead, we should not be letting ravening Mohammedans in in the first place.
Voytek Gagalka says
How true! But then, how this person, who rented this truck to him (and remember that!) can face himself with this kind of cheap rationalizations and knows that if not because of his cowardice and blanking out (“safely” pretending not to acknowledge) that jihadi attack might not have happen! Can they live with themselves now, whoever they are? Indirectly they have blood on this consciousness, forever to the last moments in life. It is how cowardly staying “in line” of political correctness kills people. Sure, Mohammedans are guilty as hell, but whoever abates them either from cowardice or appeasement are making their attacks possible.
Ashley says
I understand where you are coming from, Voytek. I understand your outrage.
We aren’t privy to the details regarding this truck rental. Did the rental clerk see red flags? Did he/she consult a manager? Was he/she in on the planned attack?
Someone rented that Ryder van to Timothy McVeigh. Someone gave Stephen Paddock access to those service elevators.
Bottom line: Saipov met all criteria to rent the truck. If denied because he presented as a raving lunatic…well, we just can’t discriminate on that basis.
That said, I think the authorities should have been notified about the rental if it raised an eyebrow or two. Who knows…perhaps they were tipped off.
gravenimage says
Voytek, chances are that the rental clerk didn’t notice anything concerning at all. Most Infidels know very little about Islam at all–moreover, he might not even have recognized the name as Muslim.
Benedict says
Maybe the person, who rented the truck to Saipov deduced from his appearance that he was part of a Halloween company, and that there therefore was no reason to worry?
mortimer says
First clue: visual/jihad beard and clipped jihad mustache.
Second clue: name/Saif-ullah (meaning SWORD OF ALLAH)
Third clue: friends/known to be ‘radicalized’ by acquaintances
gravenimage says
None of which the average Home Depot rental clerk would be apt to pick up on.
I’m very knowledgeable, and even I didn’t get the meaning of his name. When I first heard it, I Googled it and got nothing, since it is an alternate spelling (Sayfullo instead of Saifullah).
And the clerk would also have had no information on this customer’s associates.
dumbledoresarmy says
yep. The ONLY clue would be the beard and the shaven upper lip. And to recognise *that* – and what it means – you have to have a bit of background knowledge… which you won’t get from ordinary mainstream media. You *have* to have visited jihadwatch or similar sites and learnt about mohammedan rules-for-personal-grooming.
gravenimage says
What would have happened if Home Depot had refused to rent a truck to Sayfullo Saipov?
………………………..
This is a damn good question. I can only imagine the howls of “Islamophobia” if they had not rented to him.
One point though–this would not have been *racial* profiling–Sayfullo Saipov, if clean-shaven just looks like what he is–a guy from southern Russia. There are probably tens of thousands of men who look pretty much like this in the New York area.
What stands out is his Islamic beard–so this would not have been racial profiling, but profiling based on his adoption of a look widely used by Jihadists.
But this would have been characterized as being “Islamophobic” and even racist had Sayfullo Saipov not been rented his instrument of mass murder.
Walter Sieruk says
There is much talk about rooting out the ideology of Islamic terrorism. What is not mentioned is that the foundation of this type of terrorism is the theology of Islam’s “holy book” the Quran. For the Quran instructs in the uses of violence and killing for the advancement of Islam. As found in, for example, 2:191. 5:33. 9:5, 111.123. 47:4. Therefore Islam is a false ,dangerous and deadly religion.
gravenimage says
Yes–Islam will *always* be dangerous to us.
Walter Sieruk says
The jihadist’s attacks in Western nations be the Muslim terrorists as seen in that such vicious malicious and murderous jihad attacks with the heinous Islamic intention of inflecting “great slaughter” occur in the cities of the West. Such cities as New York City, Manchester, London, Barcelona, Stockholm, Brussels, Stockholm, Paris, Nice, Berlin, Madrid and so forth. Those jihad-minded Muslim terrorists who engage in those vicious Islamic terror attacks cannot be and will not be reasoned with. They will not respond to either logic or reason. They aren’t interested, at all, in reason or logic. So they have to be dealt with by a strong force of might. Either by the police or the military. For to even try to reason with a jihad-minded Muslim terrorist is just as much an act of futility as trying to teach algebra to a rabbit.
DRHazard says
There’s all kinds of Jihad.
In Europe, even without terrorism, Muslims may just achieve domination through their high birth rate. This could be dramatically slowed down by restrictions on welfare payments but that would, of course, be Islamophobia since so many Muslims are on the dole. From what I’ve read Muslims in England routinely collect extra taxpayer money because their polygamy is overlooked (multiple payments for multiple families with the father.
And then there is Jihad through democracy. Islamists hate democracy but have no trouble filing lawsuits claiming their democratic “rights” were violated. These would be the same rights that do not and have never existed in Shariah. It could also be called hypocrite’s Jihad.
When Jihad involves mass murder then cars, guns, bombs and airplanes are not necessary. All they have to do is take some meth and pick up a kitchen knife. The drug use would not impede their ascension to Paradise since martyrdom in the name of Allah automatically erases all sins. Which is why the 9/11 terrorists partied hard the night before the day of their planned carnage.
And we can’t forget that deluded Muslims have the same access to poison that sane people do Many deadly toxins can easily be purchased. False identities can also be easily created where access to some poisonous substances requires an ID.
The only way to really stop Islamic terrorism is to declare Islam a terrorist organization, which it is. Since this is not going to happen then people have to at least start understanding and admitting that Islam instructs people to hate and kill as much as other religions teach love and forgiveness.
gravenimage says
Yes–Muslims hate democracy, but they are willing to use our freedoms against us if we let them.

There is a serious irony in Home Depot’s involvement: I believe one of its founders and major management figures is a devoted supporter of Israel all his life. I have heard him speak and consider him a person of great quality. As pure speculation, this could be one reason among many that Home Depot was chosen as the source for the truck. Anything to embarrass, humiliate, confuse, . . .
Anne Smith says
Last night the ITV news programme devoted much energy and time to trying to ridicule Donald Trump’s declaration about the jihad attack at a news conference. They professed themselves amazed that he could go so far off the “correct” line taken by all other world leaders. I didn’t see the BBC but I expect it was just the same, it usually is.
In fact he appeared to be talking good sound common sense which everyone I know totally agreed with. If only we had a leader in UK with half his insight into the threats we are facing.
Most people here are cheering him on.

The U.S. has struggled with Native American, African American, Jewish American, European American, , Christian American, Asian American and other “American” diversity problems for well over 200 years. What insane NINCOMPOOP would think it advisable to issue 50,000 “Diversity Visa” cards per year for the sole purpose of increasing America’s diversity? That the U.S. Congress both proposed and approved this program further illustrates how wacko the U.S. Federal government has become.
