Islamic law forbids Christians to build new churches or repair old ones. The international establishment media will take little notice of this. But imagine the international outcry if non-Muslims anywhere stormed a mosque. From the ubiquitous “Islamophobia” propaganda, one might get the impression that such things happen all the time. In reality, they never do.
“Coptic diocese says hundreds assault church in Egypt,” Associated Press, December 23, 2017:
CAIRO (AP) — Hundreds of Muslim demonstrators assaulted an unlicensed church south of Cairo, an Egyptian Coptic Christian diocese said on Saturday, in the latest assault on members of the country’s Coptic minority.
The incident took place after Friday prayers when demonstrators gathered outside the building and stormed it. The demonstrators chanted hostile slogans and called for the church’s demolition, the diocese in Atfih said. The demonstrators destroyed the church’s contents and assaulted Christians inside before security personnel arrived and dispersed them.
The wounded were transferred to a nearby hospital but didn’t elaborate.
The church in Giza just outside of Cairo is yet to be sanctioned by the state but has been observing prayers for 15 years. The diocese said it had officially sought to legalize the building’s status under a 2016 law that laid down the rules for building churches.
Local authorities often refuse to give building permits for new churches, fearing protests by Muslim conservatives. That has prompted Christians to illegally build churches or set up churches in other buildings. In contrast, building a mosque results in few restrictions….

Grool, Do these fools believe that the Muslims would then allow them to set up a ‘Socialist Utopia’ within the Ummah? Do they imagine that they would then be able to contain the Muslims? They would be among the first to be ‘invited to Islam’ and asked to recite the Shahada. And if they refused, they would be executed like millions before them.
Benny says
Still it don’t make sense to blame it on the commies, since they would have to crush a much harder enemy to install their ideology after the Muslims have taken over. The Muslims have no room for a secular belief such as communism and, on the contrary, Radical Muslims has been supported in the middle east because they killed communists, Just look at Afghanistan where the Mujahedin fought the soviets and the communists among their own population.
I think it is a combination of non-ideological virtue policies of spoiling certain group of people that the media has labeled “oppressed,” and economic interests in satisfying rich Saudis.

Possibly. Or, it could be leftist groups simply working with their ‘enemy’s enemy’, with little regard about who that is. In this case, it’s a political minority also bent on taking down traditional power centers, like the leftists, and many liberals. I tend to favor this view myself. The leftists don’t admire Islam, they are just a means to an end; in this case, the end of traditional institutions in the West.

Concerning this incident of violence in which Egyptian Muslims assaulted Egyptian Christians. This serves as a reminder, one again, if the awful conflict between Christianity and Islam and likewise it’s a reminder of two statements of wisdom. First, this terrible conflict between Christian and Islamic ideology brings to mind the words spoken by the hero in the action movie TIME AFTER TIME. For the hero said “The first man to raise his fist is the man who has run out of ideas.” So the Muslims who violently assaulted those Christians must be men who have “run out of Ideas.” Second, this incident is also a reminder that the Christian man, Roger Williams, who founded the State of Rhode Island, had wisely and well said “That religion cannot be true which need such instruments of violence to uphold it.”
Linde Barrera says
To Walter Sieruk- Thank you for your comments. So very true. And it makes my blood boil whenever I read or hear that Christians in church are attacked by Muslims. ? So the next logical thing for me to do is write a letter to the president of Egypt. I will cite references of violence against infidels in the Quran that I learned from JihadWatch.org.
I wish all JihadWatch.org readers and their families, as well as Director Robert Spencer and his family, staff, and staff’s family a blessed Christmas. Stay safe.+
Philip Copson says
“….“The first man to raise his fist is the man who has run out of ideas.”
The point of an ideology/belief system is that it’s followers don’t HAVE any ideas. Having an idea requires some degree of free-will, and this is not allowed in any totalitarian system, whether Islam, Mao-ism or anything else.
Followers have to do what they’re told, or be denounced and punished. Devout muslims, Mao-ists, or Marxists like Merkel etc do not want democracy, freedom etc and see these things as wrong. The first time that you see Islamists with banners proclaiming that they hate freedom and democracy, it rocks you back on your heels for a bit while you wonder “How can anybody NOT want them?”, but they have been programmed from birth to believe without question in Mohammed in the same way that Chinese Youth Brigades believed in Mao. It gives them something to believe, and provides them with victims to hate. Their instruction-manual says “crush the Other” and so they do.
“… “That religion cannot be true which needs such instruments of violence to uphold it.”….A statement of the obvious of course, but one which is lost on much of humanity.
If religious people genuinely believe that their god is supreme and created everybody, why are they historically so keen to usurp their god and destroy what it created ? Seems somewhat presumptuous ?

Of course, Walter, the “conflict” between Islam and Christianity is all one way, with Muslims attacking Christians.
Muslims have just the same sort of conflict with Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and any other faith (or no faith) that is not Islam.

Many christian arabs support the arab/muslim war against Jews in general and Israel in particular, but some seem see be waking up due to reports of atrocities such as this one.
Guy Forester says
I seriously doubt that the Palestinian Christians have much choice in the matter. They probably have a choice: follow the script on the platter or your head will be there.
I also suspect that the Arabic speaking Christians here in the US are less vocal than we would expect for the same reasons. They still have family and possible property or businesses there. Say too much here, problems occur there.

Important to note here that the Muslims who assaulted the church just came out of Friday Mosque worship. What was preached at the Mosque that drove the faithful into such a violent frenzy?

Giza, to be precise Haram, was always the center of the Egyptian salafi movement. The mosques are incredibly radical. When you stand on the streets during Friday ‚prayer‘ you hear the sound of dozens of mosques and it sounds like a wild pack of dogs bellowing. It really is surreal. A religion of rabid dogs.

Islam is an opposite faith to Christianity. Christianity comes from God. Islam comes from Satan. It’s as simple as that.

But, the muslims believe just the reverse. That is what the problem is, and always has been.
utis says
I thought the Copts were dhimmis. Dhimmis are protected. [Okay, I’ve stopped laughing.] Where is the pope? Where is the U.N., protector of religious minorities?
gravenimage says
Yes, Utis–that “protection” is usually pretty much a joke, since almost any rumor makes Christians a target.
But also, while Egypt is pretty oppressive to Christians, it is not a full Shari’ah state. The Copts are not paying Jizya, hence they are not proper dhimmis and so are fair game.
But Christians worshipping at any newly constructed church would be a target under Islam, in any case.
Under full dhimmitude, no Christian is supposed to build or even repair a church any time after Muslim conquest–in Egypt, this would be the 7th century.
So every Christian who worships either in a proper church or in an underground ‘house church’ is always at risk from pious Muslims.

These poor Christians. Chances are that they will be prosecuted rather than their attackers, for having an “unlicensed” church.
And there were *hundreds* of Muslim attackers–hardly a “tiny minority of extremists”.
And these were not “protesters”–or even rioters, really–instead, they were attackers. I’m just glad none of their victims appear to have died.
Will “moderate” Egypt under Al Sisi arrest or prosecute any of the attackers? Will they look into what the Imam told the mob in the Mosque during Friday prayers? I would not count on it.

Exactly!!

For many (or maybe most) Muslims the history of the world doesn’t begin until Muhammad began reciting words that he attributed to Allah after his relatives convinced him he wasn’t insane. Within years of his death Muslims invaded Egypt, which was at the time was dominated by Christian beliefs and culture. Since the religion of peace is anything but peaceful, the Christians were killed, enslaved and generally subjugated. They didn’t welcome the Muslims and did nothing to provoke them. This was the beginning of the Muslim demonstration of complete intolerance of other religions that began while Muhammad was alive and has never ended.
Therefore the Christians currently trying to survive in Egypt have a valid historical claim to, at least, be left alone to practice their faith. However, Muslims seem to have no problem claiming their religion is peaceful and tolerant while behaving and speaking in a way that demonstrates that the opposite is true.
Hating, attacking, and killing Christians has been as much a part of Islamic culture as is child marriage and female genital mutilation.
The news media will not only avoid covering the current attacks against Christians in Egypt but will also NEVER discuss historic Muslim aggression and oppression. Mobs of Christians never burn down mosques. They never stage worldwide and deadly protests against the commonplace disrespect towards Christians, Jews and Hindus from Muslim “academics” and the Muslim media, much less the actions of single Muslim. Christian pastors and priests will never issue death warrants against a Muslim who writes a book that Christians find offensive. Christians remain tolerant in the face of the Muslim disbelief and disregard of the resurrection of Christ, which is equivalent to claiming that Muhammad was total impostor, despite mounds of evidence that it’s true. Jesus’ instruction to “love thine enemies” has no similar teaching in Islam, at least not one that hasn’t been overruled by Allah, who changed his mind about tolerance during the course of Muhammad’s life (and which neatly coincided with Muhammad’s rise to power). Some Christians may hate Muslims due to all these things, but they will never hate a Muslim simply for practicing his faith. For a Muslim anyone who is born to Christian parents and remains Christian is not only doomed to eternal torture but is also worthy of disdain and violent oppression.
But the most important thing which the media will never bring up is the fact that Christians learned from their mistakes and addressed them while Muslims celebrate their own disregard of human rights and have done so without pause from the time Muhammad fled to Medina. To put it more bluntly, the World is worse off because of Islam and this clearly demonstrable fact is of no concern to many people who claim to fight for justice.
while Muslims celebrate their hatred.
Jake Holan says
Never fear the Muslim terror gang is here. Usually whipped up into a frenzy at Friday prayers this “Street Crowd” is easily manipulated by the Imam to take to the streets and apply a lynch mob mentality towards infidels. I know it’s beyond the comprehension level of those who work for the @NewYorkTimes or @Atlantic it’s counter to the Islamic Studies Programs at @GW @GeorgeTownUniversity @SanFranciscoState or @Stanford. They’ll somehow paint a picture of self-Defense from an encroaching Islamaphobia Religion that is illegally building and incensing the core values of the Muslims. We who have lived in the Middle East know that’s Bull. The Muslim is basically intolerant toward any infidel and more so those living in the Middle East.

The Pact of Omar is not *formally* in operation in Egypt.
But it still governs the way the authorities – and the bog-standard average mohammedans – view the indigenous non-Muslims, the Coptic Christians.
One of the rules in the Pact of Omar is that dhimmis are not allowed to build *new* places of worship nor even *repair* existing ones.
*This* is at bottom why it is incredibly difficult for Christians – or other varieties of non-Muslim – in *any* Muslim-dominated country, to get official permission to build and/ or register a place of worship, and often even just to fix it up if it gets damaged or needs maintenance.
Meanwhile, in those same countries, mosques pop up everywhere, all the time, with the greatest of ease.
