Barnes & Noble took this down after this story first ran at PJ Media, but the message is clear nonetheless. Last August, while you could get al-Qaeda bomb instructions as a free download from Barnes & Noble, Jihad Watch applied for their Affiliate Program, by which we would have sold my books at this site via Barnes & Noble, but we were refused. Like the entire Leftist establishment, Barnes & Noble is much more concerned about opposing foes of jihad terror (you know, alleged propagators of “hate speech”) than about opposing actual jihad terrorists. Their longtime offering of al-Qaeda bomb instructions brings that fact into sharp relief.
“Al-Qaeda Bomb Instructions are a Free Download at Barnes & Noble,” by Bridget Johnson, PJ Media, January 17, 2018 (thanks to Creeping Sharia):
Key propaganda texts from al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula are posted for free download on the Barnes & Noble website, including the inaugural issue of a magazine linked to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
Reviews posted on the e-books indicate that they’ve remained on the bookseller’s website for years, despite clearly indicating in the titles that al-Qaeda materials are being offered.
There are two listings for “Al-Malahem Media Foundation presents A Special Gift to the Islamic Nation The first Magazine issued by al-Qaida in the English language.” That refers to the 2010 debut of AQAP’s English-language Inspire magazine; the site notes that the free Nook book is “digitized from 2010 volume.”
The first issue of Inspire includes the infamous “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom” article from “The AQ Chef” that sparked the trend of publishing detailed, open-source instructions to jihadists on constructing explosive devices. “We are conveying to you our military training right into your kitchen to relieve you of the difficulty of traveling to us,” states the article. “…In one or two days the bomb could be ready to kill at least ten people. In a month you may make a bigger and more lethal bomb that could kill tens of people.”
The step-by-step picture instructions walk would-be jihadists through constructing an explosive device with ingredients including matchstick heads and sugar, details how to fill it with projectile shrapnel, and shows how to wire it up with a timer.
Using a pressure cooker instead of a pipe “is the most effective method,” al-Qaeda advises….
UPDATE 1/18/18: Shortly after this story’s publication, Barnes & Noble appears to have removed the content from their website.
RichardL says
is that not “aiding and abetting”? And I mean both: refusing to sell anti-jihad literature and distributing bomb-making manuals.
mortimer says
How could they? How could Barnes & Noble be so REPREHENSIBLE as to send aid to those who wish to harm us?
Shame on Barnes & Noble! The CEO and board of directors must deal with this immediately and make sure such a MORAL FAILURE on their part is NEVER REPEATED!
Muslims are AT WAR with ALL disbelievers ‘for the sake of Allah’. Less than 1% of Muslims are involved in VIOLENT jihad, but 100% of Muslims are involved in VERBAL JIHAD when they mislead and deceive the dirty kufaar about the meaning, motive and methods of jihad.

I am so disgusted to learn this. I will be contacting the corporate office of Barnes and Noble today to tell them how disappointed I am in their viewpoint and outlook, citing this hum-dinger of a sales pitch: “You can’t sell books and CD’s to dead bodies.” Hopefully that will appeal to them. ?
Loretta Sanchez says
Whay did they say when youy called?
Cheer Bear Girl says
This saddens me. I used to love shopping at Barnes and Noble but no more. I will not shop there anymore. How could they do something so morally reprehensible.
common sense says
Yeah it’s right next to “Bob Muller anarchist tactics” – how to cover up crimes by targeting the wrong people especially when you yourself are the crimal.
Fllowed by “Comey, how to avoid nausea and lessons in ethics”.

B & N needs to be held accountable!
Jim says
Legally.
MFritz says
Publishing the books by Milo Yiannopolis or Colin Flaherty is a no-no. But texts by muslism terrorists? No problem!
Ashley says
I would like to know how many folks took advantage of this free Barnes and Noble download.
Disgusting. Just disgusting.

Me too.

Barnes & Noble offered al-Qaeda bomb instructions as a free download
…………………….
This is one of those things where you have to hope that those at Barnes & Noble were ignorant of what they were offering, because the alternative is much, much worse.
Most Barnes & Noble free downloads are completely innocent–things like a book titled “Summer at the Lake”, a catalogue on Doctor Who, and “The Five Ingredient Cookbook”.
Savvy Kafir says
That’s my guess. I think someone just self-published this eBook on B&N, and Barnes & Noble had no idea what it was.
Then, when their attention was called to it, they removed it from their website.
I seriously doubt that B&N was knowingly helping to distribute something like that. (And I ‘m pretty cynical about all politically correct corporations.)
LeftisruiningCanada says
Probably the case. It is to be wondered how long something ‘islamophobic’ would last on their website though.
CRUSADER says
Is Robert Spencer “Islamophobic” ???
LeftisruiningCanada says
Yeah, fair enough. They do carry his books and several other anti jihad writers.
Guess i was meaning that it would be interesting to know what their policy is on checking the content of stuff placed on their service.
Jim says
Double standard. You assume they don’t look at what they are offering for free, don’t screen it, anything goes, but that standard is only applied to everything including terrorism instructions. But when Robert Spencer asks to publish, suddenly they wake up? Inexcusable.
gravenimage says
Yes–on the other hand, you don’t exactly have to pore over this text to discover that it is Al Qaida bombmaking stuff. A quick glance through it would tell you that. It’s not as though this was a book of, say, kebab cookery and the author snuck in some easily-missed mention of supporting violent Jihad.
Does this mean that Barnes & Nobel is also accidentally offering kiddie porn and neo-Nazi propaganda? God only knows…
Lydia Church says
Not only are they not opposing jihadists, they are supporting, promoting, and enabling them!!!
Indiana Tom says
Last August, while you could get al-Qaeda bomb instructions as a free download from Barnes & Noble,
I am still waiting for them to publish instructions on how to make Little Boy and Fatman.
CRUSADER says
Wonder if you can still get a copy of the “Anarchist Cookbook” ?
Well, I have to say my first copy of a Robert Spencer book did emirate from a Barnes&Noble store.
I had thought that quite noble of them to proffer such a publication which brought me to enlightenment.
Keep writing, Robert !!!
