This is momentous. In my new book The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS, I recount how warriors of jihad in October 732 marched upon the shrine of St. Martin of Tours in north-central France, a favored site of pilgrims that contained a good deal of silver and gold.
But the Muslims made a disastrous miscalculation, drastically underestimating the strength of the forces that gathered between Tours and Poitiers to stop them. The commander of those forces was a Frankish duke named Charles, who gained the name Martel, “The Hammer,” for his decisive victory there. October 25, 732 was a bitterly cold day, and the Franks routed the jihadis, who had come dressed for a Spanish summer. The jihadis beat a scorched-earth retreat back to al-Andalus, burning and looting everything in sight.
The victory was decisive and all-important. The eighteenth-century English historian Edward Gibbon envisioned the continent’s complete Islamization had the Franks lost at Tours:
A victorious line of march had been prolonged above a thou- sand miles from the rock of Gibraltar to the banks of the Loire; the repetition of an equal space would have carried the Saracens to the confines of Poland and the Highlands of Scotland; the Rhine is not more impassable than the Nile or Euphrates, and the Arabian fleet might have sailed with- out a naval combat into the mouth of the Thames. Perhaps the interpretation of the Koran would now be taught in the schools of Oxford, and her pulpits might demonstrate to a circumcised people the sanctity and truth of the revelation of Mahomet.
Of course, the teaching of the Qur’an in the schools of Oxford and the Islamization of France were not prevented, only delayed. Now the jihad is on again in full force, aided and abetted by clueless and complicit Western authorities. Get the whole story in The History of Jihad From Muhammad to ISIS, which you can preorder here.

HISTORY OF ISLAM IN FRANCE
The Muslims entered what was then France in 714. They seized Narbonne, which became their base for the next 40 years, and carried out methodical raids. They ravaged the Languedoc region from 714 to 725, destroyed Nîmes in 725 and devastated the right bank of the Rhone as far north as Sens.
In 721, a Muslim army of 100,000 soldiers laid siege to Toulouse, defended by Eudes, the duke of Aquitaine. Charles Martel sent troops to help Eudes. After six months’ siege, the latter made a sally and crushed the Muslim army, which retreated in disarray to Spain and lost 80,000 soldiers in the campaign. Little is said of the battle of Toulouse because Eudes was a Merovingian. The Capetians were in the process of becoming kings of France and didn’t fancy recognizing a Merovingian victory.
The Muslims concluded that it was dangerous to attack France from the eastern end of the Pyrenees, and they conducted their fresh attacks from the western end of the chain. 15,000 Muslim horsemen took and destroyed Bordeaux, then the Loire region, laid siege to Poitiers, and were finally stopped by Charles Martel and Eudes twenty kilometres north of Poitiers in 732. The surviving Muslims broke up into small bands and continued to ravage Aquitaine. Fresh soldiers would join them from time to time to take part in the looting. Those bands were eventually eradicated only in 808, by Charlemagne.
The ravages in the east went on until, in 737, Charles Martel went south with a powerful army, successively regained possession of Avignon, Nîmes, Maguelone, Agde, Béziers, and laid siege to Narbonne. A Saxon attack on the north of France compelled Charles Martel to leave the region. Eventually, in 759, Pépin le Bref regained possession of Narbonne and crushed the invaders definitively.
The latter broke up into small bands, as they had done in the west, and continued to devastate the country, notably by deporting the men to turn them into castrated slaves, and the women to introduce them into North African harems, where they were used to give birth to Muslims. The bastion of these bands was at Fraxinetum, the present-day La Garde-Freinet. An area of about 10,000 square kilometres, in the Maures massif, was totally depopulated.
In 972, the Muslim bands captured Mayeul, the Abbot of Cluny, on the road to Mount Geneva. The event created an immense stir. Guillaume II, count of Provence, spent 9 years conducting a sort of electoral campaign in order to motivate the inhabitants of Provence, then, from 983 onwards, methodically hunted down all the Muslim bands, small or large. In 990, the last of them were destroyed. They had devastated France for two centuries.

Our thoughts went out towards the immense multitude of those who are strangers to the gladness that filled all Catholic hearts: some because they lie in absolute ignorance of the Gospel; others because they dissent from the Catholic belief, though they bear the name of Christians.
This thought has been, and is, a source of deep concern to Us; for it is impossible to think of such a large portion of mankind deviating, as it were, from the right path, as they move away from Us, and not experience a sentiment of innermost grief. But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty…viii
But the supreme teacher in the Church is the Roman Pontiff. Union of minds, therefore, requires, together with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God Himself.ix
And more recently, Pope John Paul II wrote that names like “Holy Father” are applicable to the Pope, even though calling him that is counter to the Gospel:
Have no fear when people call me the “Vicar of Christ,” when they say to me “Holy Father,” or “Your Holiness,” or use titles similar to these, which seem even inimical to the Gospel.x
In 1996 he also gave his ascent to calling the Pope “Lord” and “Christ on earth”:
we readily understand the devotion of Saint Francis of Assisi for “the Lord Pope”,the daughterly outspokenness of Saint Catherine of Siena towards the one whom she called “sweet Christ on earth”, the apostolic obedience and the sentire cum Ecclesia of Saint Ignatius Loyola, and the joyful profession of faith made by Saint Teresa of Avila: “I am a daughter of the Church” (emphases added).xi

No Pope has ever claimed to be divine. Your statement is flat out wrong.
Respecting the infallibility issue, it was implicitly understood to be the case throughout the history of the papacy and explicitly stated at Vatican I (1869-1870). Such infallibility only applies when a Pope is speaking ex cathedra (from the throne of Saint Peter) on doctrinal matters and at no other time. It is rarely invoked by a Pope and I believe the last time it was was in 1950 by Pius XII on the Assumption of Mary.
As for the rest of your inaccurate statement, I’ll let others deal with it except to say that calling the Pope “Holy Father” in no way contravenes anything in the New Testament. I don’t know what your point is overall, but it was badly and erroneously made. Do more research before you post next time so that you don’t embarrass yourself before others.

The crescent/cross is *not* a symbol of the conquest of the khanate. The crescent and star was a symbol of Byzantium long before it was a symbol of Islam. It was adopted throughout the Ottoman empire when they seized Byzantium. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/thrace/byzantium/Moushmov_3233.jpg Here’s a coin, with crescent and star, which says ‘Bizantion’ – Byzantium.
“Sometimes a crescent moon is found on the bottom part of crosses on domes. According to the information available to us, this type of cross adorned the domes of several churches of the twelfth century, in particular the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl, the Cathedral of Saint Dimitry in Vladimir, and Assumption Cathedral in Staraya Ladoga. Here, the crescent moon in no way represents a Muslim symbol and does not indicate, as it sometimes suggested, the superiority of Christianity over Islam. The crescent moon was one of the state symbols of Byzantium (it symbolized real power) and only after the conquest of Constantinople by the Turks did it become a symbol of the Ottoman Empire. The depiction of the crescent moon is found on Old Russian icons, vestments, and book miniatures. Moreover, the cross with the crescent moon brings to mind an anchor (the symbol of salvation, concordant with the symbolism of the Church as a ship), a blossomed cross, a chalice, or a trampled-upon snake.” (Orthodox Christianity Vol. III, The Architecture, Icons, and Music of the Orthodox Church by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev. p. 57)
First of all, we must bear in mind that the crescent in the Orthodox cross has no relation either to the Muslim religion, or to a victory over the Muslims. The Crescents were used in the decorations of Orthodox crosses by the churches before [Ivan the Terrible reign]: Church of the Intercession on the Nerl (1165), Dimitrievsky Cathedral in Vladimir (1197) and others.
[Russian Orthodox religion was adopted from Byzantine Orthodox Christianity.]
The crescent in ancient times was a sign of the Byzantine state, and only after 1453, when Constantinople was captured by the Turks, the Christian symbol was the official emblem of the Ottoman Empire. The Orthodox Byzantine crescent (tsata) symbolized royal power. Apparently, on the same bases the crescent was placed as a symbol of princely dignity in the image’s of Kyiv Prince Yaroslav II in the “royal chronicler» of XVI century. Often crescent (tsata) is portrayed as part of Episcopal vestments of St. Nicholas [Russian Orthodox Saint]. It can also be found in other icons: the Holy Trinity, the Savior, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. All this makes it right to assume that crescent (tsata) on the cross with is a symbol of the Lord Jesus Christ as King and High Priest. Thus, the installation of a cross with crescent (tsata) on the dome of the temple reminds us that this temple belongs to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
In addition, from the past — from Christ and the first centuries of Christianity — we received another meaning of the cross with a crescent. In one of his epistles, St. Paul teaches that Christians are able to “hold upon the given hope, that is the Cross, which is as the safe and steadfast anchor for a soul.” (Heb. 6: 18-19). This “anchor,” both symbolically is covering the cross from the defilement of the Gentiles, and is opening its true meaning to faithful Christians: i.e. the saving from the consequences of sin is our strong hope. Only the Christ’s ship is able to bring everyone through the waves of a stormy lifetime to the haven of eternal life.
Fancy ornament crosses set on the dome of Sofia Vologda (1570), Holy Trinity Cathedral Verkhoturye (1703), the temple in the city of the blessed Cosmas Kostylevo. They decorated with twelve stars in the rays emanating from the center and with a crescent below. The symbolism of the cross vividly conveys to the image of Revelation: “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head ” – a sign that originated from the twelve tribes of Israel, which later were led by the twelve apostles, constituting its luminous glory.
In addition to the described above symbolism of the crescent, there are also others which belong to in the patriarchy tradition — for example: the Cradle of Bethlehem, which held the Divine Infant Christ; the Eucharistic cup, which held the Blood of Christ; the Church’s Ship; and Baptismal Font Temple.
That’s how many mysterious spiritual meaning are in the cross that shines above the dome of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral.” (https://www.pravmir.ru/polumesyac-v-osnovanii-kresta/)

This story highlights the wisdom, so clear in retrospect, of former President Obama’s re-dedication of NASA’s mission to global Muslim inclusion. The essential idea was to mitigate the sense of injustice and profound humiliation experienced by the Islamic world due to a history of Western colonialism.
President Obama understood that participation of the 57 States of the OIC in the exploration of Outer Space would delimit their territorial ambitions on Earth, whether in Tours or in the Holy Land.
President Trump by contrast seeks to re-dedicate NASA to an imperial Space Force, tasked in part to undertake construction of a Death Star–an implicit danger the Middle East and to the planet itself through exacerbation of climate change.
Doesn’t this difference just say it all?

Buzzterm. Islam isn’t “fascist”. Fascism is a secularist creed which developed among internationalist communists who, among other things, had grown impatient with worker reluctance to join the revolutionary movement of pseudointellectuals like Mussolini, a Marxist union organizer. It is true, however, that Fascism, like communist internationalism, is obsessed with material development. This obsession doesn’t fit the pattern of the “far-right”, which has little use for any radical changes. So now we know that Fascism is basically NOT a right wing creed.

TL says
eduardo,
Anyone who believes in democracy deserves to be pilloried as either a scam artist or as a gullible secularist who is a can or two short of a six pack. Some reflection on the affair called democracy ought to yield poignant questions, one of which is so obvious that it is usually left unstated. We need, however, to shine light on that question:
How could a democratic government be established democratically?
Just this one question invites several more: Does not democratic theory itself require a plebiscite to determine whether or not a democratic government is to be established? and whether any particular proposal for a democratic government is to be accepted? Yet would not such a plebiscite need to be organized by a goverment? How could an organizing government itself be counted as democratic it hasn’t been established democratically through a plebiscite? Could such a plebiscite ever be counted legitimately as democratic? Which comes first, a democratic government to organize the plebiscite or the democratic government established through the plebiscite??
The point here, in part, is that the challenge of establishing a democratic government leads to infinite regress. So democracy is a utopian hoax. No democratic government has ever been established, and none ever will be.

But when/if the French begin to reclaim their country from the Muslim colonizers, I’d like to see them turn this mosque into some sort of showplace of French culture — or maybe a science museum or library — something useful that would symbolize a total rejection of Islam. Eur says
Satan, spirits … you have very polytheistic beliefs. The Canaanite peoples were polytheists and the ancient Jews also. When the Jews left Babylon after years of captivity they adopted monotheism and all the gods and demigods different from Elohim came to have different conceptions … but they continued to exist. For example baal cebu (the fly god) became the demon, satan …. Christianity inherited these demigods in the form of angels, archangels and cherubs. Islam did the same, the angels and Islamic gjins are nothing more than polytheistic reminiscences. What is certain is that for example in Catholicism (the religion of my ancestors) the image of Mary has risen to the status of demigod for the exaggerated of its veneration. Islam is polytheist from its root, like Christianity and Judaism. By the way, the word Elohim from which Alah derives means deity (valid for both singular and plural). By saying Alah you are mentioning the gods not only to a single god … although it is evident that the word has changed meaning. You say a lot about Mithraism without realizing that Islam is a human invention just like any other religion … only that Islam is much more violent and proselytizing.
After leaving Babylon, the Jews collected a lot of stories to create a new monotheistic religion. Moses for example, Moses did not exist in the Canaanite culture but in the Egyptian one. Moses is based on the Egyptian tale Sinue the Egyptian. ”
The figure of Abraham is typical of the cultures of India, much earlier than Jewish, Christian and Islamic. It is ridiculous to believe that Abraham existed and that being a figure of peoples as far away as those of the valley of the Indian Abraham came to Jerusalem where he was going to perform the sacrifice according to Islam and Mecca to build the kaaba. Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans, the Jews expelled and created a totally new city with new streets, new temples … then the Arabs conquered it and to reclaim their property stories were invented. Jerusalem today is ashamed. A city with so much history turned into a religious theme park where people are still dying for lies invented thousands of years ago. It’s all ridiculous.
The painful way is a lie, the holy sepulcher is also a lie, the dome of the rock is a rotten lie … everything is false.

I made this point on Vlad’s YT post… ‘Huge difference between the verb and the noun. For a moslem the verb is Law, i.e. ‘kill (someone) because of their beliefs’. Any moslem with knowledge of sacred law knows that in the dhar al-harb or dhar al-suhl the verb is the legal def. whereas for other faiths the noun rules, i.e. ‘a person who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs’. .. It is egregious in the extreme that at a certain point, which in the UK can be fixed at at1990, treacherous parliamentarians have joined with union leaders and assorted leftists to indulge the invalidation of 1400 years of commonsense governance by Fidelis Britons, by empowering an historic enemy, affording (it) the opportunity to effect a slow but sure seizure of Britons ancestral Lands and eradication of the Nation State and birthright of numerous generations. What is worse is part of that deal was to turn a blind eye to the islamist necessity to practice jihad, which as per islamic law muslims must. It may be proven that this is exactly what took place. it may be proven that efforts to conceal that arrangement, suggesting those concerned were fearful of the backlash that was bound to follow the publication of “Easy Meat” have occurred since. The murder and rape of young British school children was anticipated from that 1990 date, and as much aid and comfort was given unlawful combatants to assist that end as feasibly possible. Similarly the outflow of muslims from Britain to Syria was a prearrangement, which means that in effect homegrown islamists were funded by the government of the day to go on a killing spree in Syria. During that period we have all been sniping at decoys, thus getting nowhere. It is time to stop shooting and start bombing. I myself made an error, re the case of Jo Cox. I now understand she was murdered – not by Tommy Mair, but by an assassin employed by what is effectively a shadow government within the UK, dug in among the very government. JC was silenced for a reason, one that had been staring us in the face all along. The message of surah 6.123 is in effect here and now, and was during some 28 years past at least; not only in our capital city, but in the leading House for sure. We, by which I mean any soul brave enough, and generous enough, must act now. It is pointless making a stand anywhere but in the infested Royal Court, Surely there is at least one solvent person reads these columns and believes in this Nation loyally enough to invest in an offensive? The best defence is a good offence. Will you help me launch the Battle for Britain ? At the very least countless lives will be saved in the years to come. At the very best we will straighten out this Nation – if not the world, such will be the effectiveness of this action. Doing nothing when the enemy is in our sites is the very worst, unthinkable option. They can kill or incarcerate anyone, but they cannot kill money, and money used effectively will bomb them out of their fox holes and into oblivion. Are we going to allow our generations to be a noun to their verb like the meek, flabby Christians of Adolph Hitler’s scornings’… or are we going to realise that our state and our church separated for the very purpose of defending offensively?

The Battle of Poitiers occurred after the sacking of Bordeaux, the Arab soldiers had immense loot and precisely for trying to defend that loot was what caused the withdrawal.

There a currently about 8.4 million Muslims living in France, 4.6 million of them are of Maghrebian origin, and between 70000 and 110000 French people have converted to Islam. The disastrous immigration policy of the French State over the last 40 years caused the Muslim population to grow to such an extent; this policy is a clear departure from the more reasonable immigration policy of de Gaulle who warned us about mass immigration of Muslims: “Si les Arabes et les Berberes d’Algérie étaient considérés Francais, comment les empêcherait-on de venir s’installer en métropole, alors que le niveau de vie y est tellement plus élevé? Mon village ne s’appellerait plus Colombey.les-deux-Eglises, mais Colombey-les-deux-Mosquées,”( If the Arabs and the Berbers from Algeria were considered French, how could we prevent them from coming to Metropolitan France where the standard of living is so much higher. My village no longer would be called Colombey-les-deux-Eglises, but Colombey-les-deux-Mosquées) While the French political class and their stooges in administration and media leave the door wide open to Muslim mass immigration, the French people is largely opposed to Muslim immigration and islamisation, and so, in a survey conducted by IPSOS in 2012, 75% of the French have said that in their opinion Islam is incompatible with the values of the French society.
1. Muslim immigrants are more criminal than the indigenous French
A parliamentary report from 2014 has revealed that 60% of all the detainees in French prisons are Muslims.
Most Muslims are unwilling to integrate into French society; they prefer living according to Sharia law; but when an immigrant refuses to assimilate, he becomes a colonizer trying to impose his way of life on those he is about to colonize.
A recent poll conducted by the Institut Montaigne has shown that
-.80% of all Muslims want to eat halal food in school canteens
-65% of them want women to wear the hijab
-40% of those Muslims who are under 25 want to introduce the burqa and the niqab
-40% of Muslims under the age of 30 reject the principles of secularism ( Religion and state must be separated)
-33% of those who are not 30 years old say that Sharia law is more important to them than the laws of the French Republic
-25% of the Muslims want to have polygamy.
The poll concludes that 25% of all Muslims take pride in their Islamic culture and that 28% of them can be called secessionists; they have broken up with French culture, they identify no longer with France, but with Islam.
The constant outbursts of violence and unrest in the suburbs of French agglomerations are the harbinger of a war which gradually turns from a cultural struggle into a bloody civil war, with France being in danger of becoming a new Lebanon, a new Kosovo. France has always been the cradle of European civilization; from gothic art, the cathedrals and scholasticism to Corneille, Racine and Moliere, from the beautiful castles on the Loire river to the magificence of Versailles, from Rousseau, Voltaire and Diderot to the French Revolution, France has inspired so many European writers, artists, painters, musicians, political leaders….I dont’ think that “la messe francaise est dite,” you are a great nation, and you can be great again, but with Islam in France, everything goes down the drain.

Dear JawsV and Thomaspj Poovathinkal and others,
I would describe myself as an agnostic Christian in that I have a problem the supernatural aspects of Christianity, indeed of all things supernatural including gods, ghosts, afterlife, fairies for which there is no objective, proveable evidence. I agree that Christianity is now benign, a good religion, although not in the past. Islam has always been a violent, supremacist, parasitic cult. It’s a vile totalitarian ideology.
I embrace the moral and ethical aspects of Christianity: Moses’ Commandments 4 to 10, the Golden Rule, the example of the Good Samaritan, and many other non-supernatural strands including particularly St Paul’s wonderful passage in Corinthians 1:13 on love. Love for me is a wholly human emotion and doesn’t need a creator. I’m with Doubting Thomas – I need convincing evidence before believing in what I cannot see or experience. I do not differentiate between religion and superstition: both depend upon acceptance of the irrational. I would much appreciate a reasoned explanation of the difference.
I know many of you will disagree with me as is your right. I respect your right to believe in anything, especially if it gives you life guidance and succour. I am, therefore, far from being a militant atheist.
I hope you will have equal respect for my position.
The motivation for my comment above was the arrogance of assumed moral superiority often expressed by those of fundamentalist Christian belief. On St Paul’s advice in Cor. 1:13 I shall try to be more patient and kind in future on this issue of belief.
My best wishes to all Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs on JW and to those Muslims who wish to leave Islam – I hope you have the courage and conviction to do so. Kind regards, IanB.

I would add that I do not need the promise of an afterlife or the threat of a hellfire for me to try to lead a good life.
I do not need anyone to have “died for my sins”; I take total personal responsibility for any wrong I cause to anyone by act or omission and I do my utmost to make amends. Similarly, I am quick to forgive others when they show genuine remorse.
The Universe gifts each of us with the atoms of the stars billions of years old. When we die we give them back. End of. According to the Law of Conservation of Matter: matter is neither created nor destroyed. The real miracle is that we are here to enjoy the wonders of the Universe during our life on Earth, to give and receive love, and to enjoy music and beer (etc. ++) … That’s the only miracle for me.

IanB…I think organized religion attempts to make Jesus a self-serving barrier rather than the link that His example can be. Anyone who is convinced they HAVE to believe anything (e.g. Jesus died for our sins) that is REALLY not supported by their rationality is wishing truth rather than finding it. Despite human-tainted flaws Christianity is benign – and we humans probably need fables in order to engage our attention and strivings.
There are other paths however, (deistic rather than theistic?), and they reveal themselves more via actual soteriological methods (practice and see). Buddhism might suit you:

Sikkhism might be interesting to explore. Sikhs are monotheistic; they believe in Ahimsa (non-violence) and the individual soul (and it seems they definitely do NOT consider their religion as a blend of Islam and Hinduism).

Christianity has always been a good religion. The True Religion. Jesus is God. You don’t understand Christianity and Jesus’s sacrifice. Oh yes indeed you needed Him to die for your sins. Like all of us. And, there’s no “fairies” so stop with the fairies. There is Jesus. If you need scientific evidence then you don’t have faith. Period. Pray. That’s what you need to do — pray. To Jesus.

Islam, charming and remorseful as always. Why, oh why do we reject being subsumed?

Alas ! Europeans do not have activists like Pamela Geller. Less than 10 years ago Mohamdens
wanted to build a new Cordoba blocks from Ground zero. She with a bunch of dedicated anti-Jehadi stopped that effors in its tracks.

Pamela Geller is great. I believe that patriotic French people can do the same, though.
