My latest at PJ Media:
Ilhan Omar is thrilled, and you know what that means: you should be, too. A cultural line has been crossed. According to the Star Tribune, “the Muslim call to prayer will be broadcast the traditional five times a day in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, beginning with the start of Ramadan this week and continuing through the end of the religious holiday in May. It will be the first time the call to prayer, commonly broadcast from mosques in Muslim nations, will be heard in Minnesota.”
This is only supposed to be for Ramadan, but let’s be serious. In today’s Minneapolis, in today’s paradise of multiculturalism, what are the chances that the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood will stop broadcasting the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, once Ramadan is over? About as good as the chances that Nancy Pelosi will endorse Trump and become his running mate.
Yet the implications of this broadcast call to prayer, beyond the expected hosannas from the usual proponents of globalism and multiculturalism, are ominous.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a friend and supporter of Ilhan Omar, is no doubt as happy as she is about this, as it demonstrates how “inclusive” his city is. And that’s wonderful, but when the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood broadcasts the Islamic call to prayer, what exactly is it broadcasting? The adhan, prayed in Arabic, repeats “Allahu akbar” six times, “I testify that there is no god but Allah” three times, and “I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s prophet” twice.
Dr. Gavin Ashenden, former chaplain to the British queen, who resigned his position in protest against a Qur’an reading in a Scottish church, observed that “the Muslim call to prayer is a dramatic piece of Islamic triumphalism. It proclaims Islam’s superiority over all other religions, and in so doing casts Jesus in the role of a charlatan and a liar. The Muslim god, Allah, is unknowable and has no son. Jesus was, therefore, a fraud in claiming He and the Father are one.”
Is the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis really wise to broadcast repeatedly a declaration of the superiority of Islam, a faith that directs its adherents to make war against Christians and other non-Muslims and subjugate them as inferiors under the hegemony of believers (cf. Qur’an 9:29)?
Is the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis wise to broadcast the cry “Allahu akbar,” beloved of jihad terrorists the world over? Chief 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta wrote this in his letter to himself before carrying out his jihad mission: “When the confrontation begins, strike like champions who do not want to go back to this world. Shout, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers.” This is why the Fort Hood jihad killer, Nidal Malik Hasan, shouted it as he shot thirteen Americans in November 2009, and why so many other jihadis have used it essentially as an announcement that non-Muslims are about to die.
There is much more. Read the rest here.

Because a blaring loudspeaker is a better weapon against the Infidels than a little beeping cellphone is. For a Muslim it is better to yell Allahu Akbar than to whisper it …. and Infidels are dirt anyway. Yeah, it’s a lovely religion.

Ramadan is just ‘A Month Without Lunch’, societal accommodations and changing our collective behaviors in the name of tolerance is just silly and should be dismissed immediately.
No offense to the followers of Islam but it takes some Chutzpah to expect the 99% of our society which are not Muslims to drop everything and notice and accommodate you.

If muslims don’t mind I have decided to try out some “cultural appropriation” in the name of lefty-sponsored ” inclusiveness and diversity”.
After all muslims are allowed to invade our countries and we know you love to spoil Christmas.
So,I will be celebrating my own culturally insensitive festival …
The festival of Haram Ramadiddleydamn
knowing that music,musical instruments,female singers[“the song of a songstress”]*,chess,bacon and beer are all haram in islam.. I’ll be cheerfully munching bacon sandwiches whilst I SIT listening to a Jewish woman singing on a record accompanied by a musical instrument whilst I play chess and read {and LOL} all the epic Scientific,Logical and Theological errors in allah’s “perfect” koran.A culinary treat of roast leg of lamb awaits with a secret tangy sauce{Ok,hot chilli}to commemorate the great prophet’s demise after eating poisoned meat{PBUH:poison be the undoing of him}
For the kids?A cartoon competition of Uncle mo ,Aisha his 9 yer old “wife” and buraq his magical winged flying donkey with a woman’s face and a peacock tail{you know the one he flew on to visit that mosque that didn’t actually exist at the time in Jerusalem koran 17.1?Yes,that Magical Donkey}
Happy Haram Ramadiddleydamn to everybody !

Don’t they have noise nuisance laws in Minneapolis? There was an application made to broadcast the Muslim Call to Prayer from mosques here in Sydney a few years ago. “Just during Ramadan” they pleaded. Fortunately it all went down like the proverbial lead balloon.

MUSLIMS GOT ON FOR 1300 YEARS WITHOUT LOUDSPEAKERS … THEY ARE NOISE POLLUTION
1936 FIRST LOUDSPEAKER IN A MOSQUE
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudspeakers_in_mosques
Loudspeakers were invented in the early 20th century, and they were introduced in mosques in the 1930s, where they are used by a muezzin for the adhan (“call to prayer”), and sometimes for khutbah (sermons).
Outdoor loudspeakers, usually mounted on tall minarets, are used five times a day for the call to prayer, sometimes starting as early as 4 a.m. Some mosques have loudspeakers that are powerful enough to be heard as far as 5 km (3 mi) away. In areas where more than one mosque is present, the loudspeaker sounds overlap one another, especially in the early morning when sounds are more clearly heard. Loudspeakers are sometimes also used inside mosques to deliver sermons or for prayer.
The first known installation of a microphone–loudspeaker set occurred in 1936 in the Masjid Sultan in Singapore; it was reported that the summons to prayer could ‘carry more than a mile’. Though some mosque attendees were sceptical of this new electric system, most believed it was necessary to empower the muezzin’s voice to transcend a modern city’s noises. Electrically amplified adhans have become commonplace in countries such as Turkey and Morocco, whereas in others such as the Netherlands only 7 to 8% of all mosques employ loudspeakers for the call to prayer.

I can’t stand ‘rap.’ It grates on my nerves. Whenever I am unwillingly subjected to it, I turn on whatever music I can find that will be louder than what comes through my **closed** door from outside.
Sometimes, it’s Josh Groban..what a voice! Sounds great loud., sometimes it’s Brooks and Dunn singin “Boot Scootin Boogie.”
Thankfully, I don’t live in a neighborhood that is majority moslim…with the possibility of being subjected to the screeching, nerve-breaking yelling, to satan. I would have to break out the loudest music I could find.
I hope the infidels of Minneapolis can find a way to overcome this horrible noise., , this assault on the ears, the nerves, the heart, mind and soul.
CogitoErgoSum says
Here’s some beautiful music that I find calms the nerves, the heart, the mind and the soul … but best heard when all else is silent (I especially like being able to hear the birds chirping in the background).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3YwLB-A1k8
I won’t post the link to it but there is a version of the Adhan on YouTube that I do find listenable (search for Adhan by Cat Stevens). However, in contrast to “Pange Lingua” there are no musical instruments or chirping birds – only the sound of Stevens and a cold, harsh wind in the background that sends a shiver through my soul.
somehistory says
Thank you for the information. I really like the Stevens song, “Morning has broken, like the first morning…blackbird has spoken like the first bird…”
Too bad…really really, too bad…that he left his sanity and became a voice for evil.
I like “calm” music…sweet notes on violin or cello…piano, Frank Mills, Floyd Cramer music, but they don’t drown out the nerve disturbers, so only when other things are quiet, as you say. For piano that drowns, I like “Bumble Boogie” by B Bumble and the Stingers.
CogitoErgoSum says
“Sad Lisa” is another good one by Cat Stevens. He does have some really nice songs from the days before his “reversion.” I had never heard “Bumble Boogie” so I looked it up and listened. Definitely got me moving this morning. ?
somehistory says
I don’t recall hearing “Sad Lisa.” I’ll have to see about that one.
The video made of the dancers…dressed as maids and cooks, etc….with the “Bumble Boogie,” is fun to watch. Those guys and gals can really dance. Wish I had that much talent in the art.
The song does get one’s muscles activated. Glad you liked it.
gravenimage says
While I do really like Cat Steven’s version of this song, note that he *did not* write “Morning Has Broken”.
“Morning Has Broken” is a Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and is set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune, “Bunessan”.
somehistory says
Didn’t mean to **imply** that Cat Stevens “wrote” the song. I just liked it…and still do, listening to it once in a while.
It’s kind of like reading the words King Solomon penned, through inspiration from God, before he went off the deep end and married women who worshipped false gods.
I was not alive in the 1930’s and, unfortunately, do not have time to look up the origin of every song to which I like to listen. But, thanks for the information.
Had the internet and all of the posts to it been available when Stevens first recorded the song, there might have been more recognition of the original composers. Had he not recorded it, I would never have heard it, I suppose as I have never heard it by anyone else.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Somehistory. There is no doubt that Cat Stevens had some talent before he threw it all away on Islam.

One of the more jarring aspects of totalitarianism and its attendant contempt for others’ sensibilities is this sort of invasion of the communal audio space with the prescribed dose of indoctrination. When I lived in communist China we were greeted daily at 6 AM by martial music blaring from loudspeakers strategically placed around campus followed by the cadre exclaiming, basically, “Welcome comrades to the bright and glorious new communist Day!” before launching into a lesson in how good and wonderful life is under the jackboot. Those reading this who’ve spent any time there will know exactly what I’m describing. This Islamic practice is of a piece with that.

If this hasn’t already been accomplished, soon all pork products will be removed from public display and will have to be discreetly asked for, same with alcohol. What was that about those much-vaunted Amendments? They’re still getting away with it anyway. A Constitution is only as strong as the people’s readiness to defend it.

They will not stop the head bashing noise of “the call to prayer” after Ramadan. Minneapolis has allowed another score to the muslims and it is despicable, disasterous, horrendous, etc. I am furious over their decision to allow it. it is a horrible noise day in and day out. It’s bad enough wherever I go (and hear it in my house from the road) the constant banging from cars.
