Fantastic news if true, but note, as that pie chart shows – shi’a islam is still 32% of Iran, while sunni + sufi is still 8%. Islam needs to go down further into the single figures before Iran can be salvaged.
I also don’t think that ‘None’ (agnostic) or Atheist is a viable solution: I’d like to see Zoroastrian attain critical mass again to become the majority religion. There should be freedom of religion, but islam should be institutionally banned, so that nothing like this regime ever rises again

In a civilized nation, people have the right to be Atheist or Agnostic.

It has been a general tendency for decades, that as people become better educated they also become less religious – and that process has escalated in the information age. The Internet is liberating more and more people from the supernatural dogmas of the past – simply because they are being exposed to more information and a wider diversity of opinion , whereas in the past they were largely hidden and controlled by the priestly class.
Theocracies of any type are oppressive regimes, and all tend toward totalitarianism – because they know with ‘absolute certainty’ that their religion is the only “true religion”. But to agnostics or atheists – whom you dismiss as not being “a viable solution” – all religion is simply a product of the human imagination. One of the main reasons why organized religions of any sort continue to exist, is that they provide a great way for politicians to control the sheeple – and of course, Islam does that best of all.

Sorry, I remember the Dinesh D’Souza of 2007 (during Bush XLIII) who wrote a book rationalizing 9/11, and claiming that Hollywood perversion was the main motivator there. Something that RS took him on in this site at the time. I myself crossed swords w/ him on email on the blog that he had at the time, and he also engaged in denial of the Muslim holocaust of Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs in India
No, simply b’cos he’s gone from pro-Bush to pro-Trump (which I too have) doesn’t make me a fan of D’Souza, unless and until he recants that stupid book that he wrote ‘The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and its Responsibility for 9/11‘
Essentially, he’s a weather vane – goes whichever way the wind blows in the conservative movement

Grimly true, Infidel. This, from “The Enemy at Home”:
“In this book I make a claim that will seem startling at the outset. The cultural left in this country is responsible for causing 9/11. … In faulting the cultural left, I am not making the absurd accusation that this group blew up the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I am saying that the cultural left and its allies in Congress, the media, Hollywood, the nonprofit sector, and the universities are the primary cause of the volcano of anger toward America that is erupting from the Islamic world. The Muslims who carried out the 9/11 attacks were the product of this visceral rage—some of it based on legitimate concerns, some of it based on wrongful prejudice, but all of it fueled and encouraged by the cultural left. Thus without the cultural left, 9/11 would not have happened.
“I realize that this is a strong charge, one that no one has made before. But it is a neglected aspect of the 9/11 debate, and it is critical to understanding the current controversy over the ‘war against terrorism.’ … I intend to show that the left has actively fostered the intense hatred of America that has led to numerous attacks such as 9/11. If I am right, then no war against terrorism can be effectively fought using the left-wing premises that are now accepted doctrine among mainstream liberals and Democrats.”
Whenever Muslims charge that the war on terror is really a war against Islam, Americans hasten to assure them they are wrong. Yet as Dinesh D’Souza argues in this powerful and timely polemic, there really is a war against Islam. Only this war is not being waged by Christian conservatives bent on a moral crusade to impose democracy abroad but by the American cultural left, which for years has been vigorously exporting its domestic war against religion and traditional morality to the rest of the world.
D’Souza contends that the cultural left is responsible for 9/11 in two ways: by fostering a decadent and depraved American culture that angers and repulses other societies—especially traditional and religious ones— and by promoting, at home and abroad, an anti-American attitude that blames America for all the problems of the world.
Islamic anti-Americanism is not merely a reaction to U.S. foreign policy but is also rooted in a revulsion against what Muslims perceive to be the atheism and moral depravity of American popular culture. Muslims and other traditional people around the world allege that secular American values are being imposed on their societies and that these values undermine religious belief, weaken the traditional family, and corrupt the innocence of children. But it is not “America” that is doing this to them, it is the American cultural left. What traditional societies consider repulsive and immoral, the cultural left considers progressive and liberating.
Taking issue with those on the right who speak of a “clash of civilizations,” D’Souza argues that the war on terror is really a war for the hearts and minds of traditional Muslims—and traditional peoples everywhere. The only way to win the struggle with radical Islam is to convince traditional Muslims that America is on their side.
….“In order to defeat the Islamic radicals abroad,” D’Souza writes, “we must defeat the enemy at home.”
Now, I have some issues with the Left, as well–but the idea that Muslims have the right to slaughter Americans because they do not murder Atheists and gay people or because they allow freedom of speech is sick beyond belief. I don’t think that D’Souza has ever changed his mind on these sick claims.
And this is not just sick–it is also completely wrong-headed. Pious Muslims believe that Catholic nuns and chaste born-again Christian girls deserve to die just as much as they think the same about in-your-face gay riot grrrls.
The fact is that Islam targets *all* Infidels, not just the ones that D’Souza doesn’t personally like.

Spot on, James.
Other “traditional people” are not waging Jihad terror against us.
D’Souza also does not mention that Muslim “traditional values” include “marrying” children, raping Infidels, and mass murdering unbelievers.

Dinesh D’Souza Video: ‘Infidel’ Tells The Truth About Iran!
………………
Good for Dinesh D’Souza here! Although he has waffled in his stance against Jihad over the years, which is concerning.
And Infidel looks like a great movie.
Jim Caviezel was also in “The Stoning of Soyraya M.”–a strong anti-Jihad film. This film is somewhat flawed–it doesn’t really fully acknowledge that stoning is Islamic–but still heartbreaking and very powerful.
