Greece has increased the presence of border police at the Greek-Turkish border to prevent a surge of migrants from Afghanistan, while joining 12 other EU countries that have sent a letter to the EU, calling for “more extensive EU measures against illegal immigration,” and requesting funding to build border walls. Aside from Greece, the countries include Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, and Slovakia.
1.3 million mostly Muslim migrants entered the EU in 2015 alone. Since then, massive numbers of economic migrants have illegally crossed into the EU and the UK, heading to the countries of their choice, particularly those with better benefits. Six years later, given countless reports of high crime among migrants in the EU, jihadist infiltration of refugee streams, the establishment of no-go zones, the proliferation of jihad preaching, and the inability of many to assimilate, many EU countries are starting to rethink the wisdom of open-door immigration policies.
Lithuania, Poland and Hungary have already erected walls to keep out illegal migrants, while Denmark plans to begin undoing the immigration policy of its predecessors, with a goal of deporting up to 35,000 migrants by 2030.
“Greece boosts border guards over Afghan migration fears,” by Costas Kantouris and Derek Gatopoulos, Associated Press, October 11, 2021:
THESSALONIKI, Greece — Greece will increase the number of border guards on the country’s border with Turkey, fearing a spike in illegal migration linked to the crisis in Afghanistan, officials said Monday.
An additional 250 officers will join the 1,500-strong border force over several months, with the number rising from around 1,000 early last year. About 800 extra border guard personnel will also be hired to staff airports and regions close to the Greek-Turkish border.
The increase was spurred in part by the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan, according to authorities. Greece has toughened its migration policy and border policing over the last two years, extending a wall along its land border with Turkey and installing a high-tech surveillance network to try and deter asylum-seekers from making the crossing.
Greece has also denied mounting allegations by human rights groups that migrants caught after crossing into Greece are being summarily deported without being allowed to claim asylum.
In parliament Monday, Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi said a growing number of front-line countries in the 27-nation European Union were pressing the European Commission, the EU’s executive branch, for tougher action to deter migration.
“Europe is not bordered by warring countries. And the majority of people arriving are not at risk in the last transit country, so it’s important to redefine how (migration policy) works and how border security works,” Mitarachi said.
Poland and Lithuania in recent months have been struggling to cope with an unusually high number of migrants, most from Iraq and Afghanistan, arriving at their borders with Belarus. They accuse Belarus’ government of encouraging the flow of migrants to exert pressure on the entire EU…..

Good work, Greece! Build a wall on the Thracian border, and have your navy sink any ships w/ refugees! Only take in Christian refugees from either Artsakh or the Levant, and Yazidis and Zoroastrians, but absolutely no mohammedans of any kind
In fact, make it clear that all muslim refugees will be deported to Afghanistan. That should stop them in their tracks
